Are those cosplay/LARPer turtles based on a specific episode, or is Playmates attempting a return to the goofy themed figures of the 90's, lol ?

I forgot to include myself, but that's not to say I won't buy them either, but whatever I buy I pretty much have to buy my nephew too, I used as a frame of reference to how much movie accuracy is to a 5 year old. I know I'm buying them too, otherwise I wouldn't be on this forum.

The difference here is that the Classics Collection figures are supposed to appeal to adults as opposed to kids.

That may be, but it won't stop kids from buying them, I collected McFarlane's Movie Maniacs and I was about 10 years old or so. They're toys in the toy section.... 'Nuff said

That's not even remotely correct. Your comment is by far blown more out of proportion than what I said. You have selectively chosen to ignore what I said. My complaint is worded specifically. The things you chose to get sassy about are already addressed in my comment in such a way that you don't really have anything to get sassy about.

You said you've never seen a toy that is completely movie accurate, and I'm not even asking that Playmates deliver in this way. McFarlane, NECA, and Hasbro consistently deliver toys that are significantly more movie-accurate to their respective franchises than what Playmates is offering. Regardless, I am not even asking Playmates for McFarlane/NECA/Hasbro levels of accuracy. I'm just asking them for slightly better accuracy than what they're offering.

Also, the Classics line is expensive and geared toward adult collectors. Your comment about your nephew not caring about the shoulders is irrelevant, and therefore invalid in this discussion.

That is about as accurate as they will get bud, take it or leave it. Whether they're $20 or $5, I know I'm gonna buy them for myself and my nephew, As I'm sure you will. As I'm sure we all will, always remember the age is a suggestion, not a law. I have seen mothers buying their 8 year olds Walking Dead Action Figures so if it is at a Toys R Us, it's game for ANYONE. Adult or not, money will get them for an eager child or eager adult.

My must haves include LARP turtles and one of those Half Shell Metalheads so he can be in scale with the turtles.

Goldengreg 02-18-2014 04:39 AM

OMG their displays are gorgeous... I need thoses dioramas!

As for the toys themselves, I'm happy with the 4 basics.

Bradsdadg 02-18-2014 05:26 AM

I like the LARP figures only because they kind of remind me of the Lord of The Rings :)

trebleshot 02-18-2014 02:21 PM

I think my wallet just whimpered.

He's probably going to go into hysterics when I finally get around to looking at the actual pics of the TF displays from Toyfair.

I'm excited for new TMNT merch, but I don't think I'll be getting a lot this year. I still haven't seen the Casey wave.

The Newtralizer figure was on my to-get list, but he now looks pretty bad. It's not even the loss of paint-apps that does it, it's the change in his main body color. He would look so much better green.

I'm excited to see a new Turtle Blimp, but I want to wait and see how much it costs. Looks good, but my final decision will come down to what the price is. That said, if I don't get one for myself, I'll still probably get one for my nephew.

Slash looks like he'll be a nice figure. I like that he comes with his mace. Tigerclaw doesn't look bad either, but I'm not sure I want him in my collection. Anyone else get a Tony-the-tiger vibe from him?

I wouldn't have imagined this, but I'm actually kind of interested in the Butt Cannons figure. It's a Kraang figure, and has a... fun design.

The 90's Turtles look pretty good. They're pretty much what I was expecting from Playmates. Hopefully these sell well enough to continue the line. That said, I'm not sure if I'll get any of them. I still don't have any of the previous CC figures. Though I still kinda want a Raph.

I might end-up getting more new movie merch than other TMNT merch this year. From what I've seen and heard of them, most of the basic figures are going to be worth it. The new van also looks great.

Those Diamond Select bust banks look great. I'm now glad I skipped those cheap ones I saw at TRU. I'm also liking the looks of the Mikey pizza cutter and Leo bottle opener. It'll be interesting to see how the Minimates look. Any idea what iteration they'll be based on?

I've seen two leaked pictures. Neither of which I would describe as HD or quality. I'm either not finding what you're talking about, or they've been taken down.

Actually to me he looks like a brother of Tigress from Kung Fu Panda.

Entirely possible. The studio has been actively tracking that stuff down, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Joe Moore 02-19-2014 08:28 AM

Playmates was not happy that pics had leaked out. I know they have their team sending take down notices everywhere, which is why we didn't bother posting the leaked images.

The movie studio basically don't want the first widely available look at the movie characters to be in the form of toys. Who knows when we'll get a trailer or still images for the movie itself, but once that hits, expect official shots of the toys to be released from Playmates, LEGO and whoever else has the licenses.

Exodus 02-19-2014 10:00 AM

My wallet is happy that I've dropped this line:P As much as the new figures look great though.

Ravenxl7 02-19-2014 10:30 AM

Forgot to comment on the Playskool-styled toys. Those look like they'll be great for little kids. Though my one nephew is too old for them, and it's going to be a while before the other one is old enough for these. That said, I might get a handfull of them while I can. That way I'll have them for when that nephew is old enough to play wih them. He's inevitably going to be a TMNT fan anyways. Both myself and, more importantly, his father are big TMNT fans.

She didn't come to my mind, but now that you mention her, that makes sense too.

They haven't yet taken down the two really blurry pics yet.

I imagine there is an embargo, just like with the new Godzilla merch. Hopefully it won't be too much longer till they officially reveal the stuff. I've seen just enough leaked stuff to be excited. The movie could turn out to be shit, and there's still at least a handfull of stuff I know I'm going to get anyways.

Shawpaw 02-19-2014 07:41 PM

The HD pictures were removed. So frustrating! They need to just release them already. So dumb.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and just wanted to share the attached.

Half-Shell Heroes was a concept I came up with and submitted to Playmates in 2012 in hopes they could see my potential with their characters. Never heard anything, but I guess they liked my ideas enough.

I'm not really surprised that they would do a kids line, but they took the name too...

Not sure what I could do if anything, any thoughts?http://1drv.ms/1gzXdlu

Joe Moore 03-19-2014 06:50 AM

You would have to prove, in a court of law, that the idea your idea was submitted before Playmates was working on the line, that the person you submitted it to was directly involved with the creation of the line and that they specifically referenced/used a concept submitted to them as the basis for the line.

Overall, Toyark really isn't the place to to get any real answer or to discuss any potential legal proceedings. I suggest a legal consultation to discuss your options. However, by making it public, you will likely damage any real potential of finding a resolution.

hicodycodes 03-21-2014 09:11 AM

Good to know Joe!

Blackwolfninja 04-20-2014 01:25 AM

I think some people are being a bit too critical on the 90 movies turtles. Personally I love them and I want to get my hands on them. The LARP turtles as well.
