and any remote hope I had for this movie is out the window.

You dudes are so dramatic. :)

I was hoping against hope. But then again it is Bay we are talking about here.

Not gonna lie I thought they gave Donatello a jerry curl for a minute.

Part of the problem with that is that HE DOESN'T EVEN WEAR THE HARNESS in the show.

They sculpted something on him that he didn't even need, and then didn't paint it.

And Bay is awesome! Bay's movies are awesome! I've been saying it for decades, you guys don't actually like movies. You're not kids anymore, you don't think like kids anymore, you've lost your imaginations. You're turning into grumpy old men hopelessly clinging to some stuff you used to like a long time ago. You keep hanging around watching movies anyway because you're bored & have nothing better to do. Like it's some kind of weird obligation. You feel you have to watch every new movie released & let us know how much you hated it. As if the world will end if we don't get to hear you bitch about it. Nobody cares about your opinion but you just can't seem to wrap your head around that. You think the universe will cease to exist if you stop posting. You think if you bitch enough you will stop other people from liking it. But it never works that way. Transformers made billions, Bay is still making them, everybody loves them & your bitching & Bay bashing didn't amount to anything. Give it up already! You've lost. It's old & stale now. You need to learn a new tune.

Straker 03-16-2014 03:55 AM

the NEXT, next mutation is...

WoW... these guys are making those old Next Mutation designs look GOOD by comparison XD

TheLongestDay 03-16-2014 10:10 AM

Well...I wanted to like this movie AND the toys...but these look like hammered shit

Well the first thing wrong with your statement is that Bay is not directing this film. Bay is only the producer on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and with Bay being busy on Transformers 4 I seriously doubt that Bay had much time to micro manage director Jonathan Liebesman.

Second I hardly think I've lost my imagination or childlike wonder. I watch way too many cartoons and movies that take a serious leap of imagination to make them work. A Hayao Miyazaki film takes a good deal of imagination and child like wonder from the person watching the film if they have any hopes of enjoying the film.

It's like I've had to explain other places, just because you don't like some changes doesn't mean you hate all changes. The new Battlestar Galactica rocked, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nick is fantastic, Batman Brave and the Bold Aquaman is the best Aquaman ever, the Daniel Craig Bond films have revived Bond for the current world. But all change isn't good change so it's okay for me to love Transformers Prime Starscream and hate live action movie Starscream.

Put I will kind of agree about people not caring. There are some production teams that still strive to make both old and new fans happy but some teams wouldn't give old fans the time of day much less spend a single second worried if old fans will like something or not.

Although I'll disagree about how we've lost. Oh we don't win every war so it might take another 2 or 3 Transformers movies for Bay to run the live action franchise into the ground. But every so often a production team comes along and says we love you guys and we hope you enjoy our film. I mean come on Marvel is doing films loved by the geeks who grew up on comic books so it's not some weird either or thing of you can only make the new people happy or you can only make the old people happy. Plenty of middle ground to make both sides happy if you have the talent to do it.

^Well said sir! That being said, I do like the Transformers Movies, however I go into them knowing that they will never top the 80's Cartoon Movie. I love the new TMNT Cartoon as well. The Marvel Movies are AWESOME and TDK Trilogy RULES, so New Dude a few posts back is not exactly right (If reading posts from a bunch of grown up kids complaining about how our childhood stuff has been ruined isn't your thing, then don't come here, you won't like us). This TMNT movie though...It seems to be a bit of a stretch considering they are Mutant Turtles who are Ninjas and like Pizza LOL...I'm not on board yet. Shredder looks Bad$$ though... I'll go see it, but I will go into it with the same mindset that I did with the Bayformers...

ChloeH 03-16-2014 02:18 PM

I feel just watch it with an open mind, not to be too demanding and enjoy!

I find the X-men movies overly simplified and dull to the point of being unwatchable. Every character is so milquetoast compared to their comic book versions.

Yeah. I'm sure that can be chalked up to them having to work with concept art early on which eventually saw a few changes before the final version was picked for the show.

Then again, maybe they just wanted to do their own thing like with the first set of turtles? Who knows. Either way, it was something that didn't get painted. Like the fingerless gloves on the Ooze Launching turtles, or the Kraang honeycomb pattern on metalhead's head.

Blanka 03-16-2014 04:56 PM

These are the 11 inch figures which are considerably shittier than the 5 inchers. The 5 inchers are better sculpted, painted, and have better articulation.

No, Bay was not credited as character designer on the TF LAMs. I believe that either ILM or the Art Department fulfilled that role. I do believe he had to approve them, though. He may have also made suggestions at various points in the process. Hasbro & Takara also had a hand in the designs, since they had to make toys out of them.

Which makes it even more ironic that people are blaming Bay for the new TMNT designs when he is barely tied to the new movie at all.

Agreed. Hopefully better versions will be available once the full line is revealed. I'd love to get a Raph.

I often wonder if Jonathan Liebesman actually feels grateful that Bay is taking the heat off him being the actual director behind this reboot?
He's probably thrilled. If the movie's a flop, most blissfully unaware fans will still blame Bay and Lieberman will be able to walk away clean.

With that said I've got no problem with the new designs for the turtles so far, I'll watch the movie and if I am entertained then that's what I will base my opinion on.

I felt the same way back in the early 90's. Of course, that was back during my teenage "fan rage" phase (you know - the time when your opinion is the only one that matters and everyone else is WRONG!).

None of that stuff really bothers me anymore. Either I will like the new movie or I won't, simple as that. As I said above, I'd still like to get a Raph movie figure (he's always been my favorite, with Leo being a close second), but I'm hoping for a better version that the one we've seen in this thread.

Thugnificent 03-17-2014 05:15 PM

They're definitely on the 'roids, I will give them that. I am open-minded and want to see the flick first; I'm curious what it'll be all about and how they look/move/all that jazz.

Maybe the designs will grow on me more between now and after I see the flick. They definitely bring a new aesthetic to the TMNT collection which I am always down for. Much like how the Transformers movie toys have (I love the designs unlike many folks it seems).

Most curious what their turtle van will be all about.

kylactus 03-17-2014 05:34 PM

they look like there actually different breeds of turtles, Raph looks like a tortes. for specific breeds on the rest consult your local herpetologist.
