@Greenskar

I have read other complaints regarding the Hulkbuster figure and its dated sculpt. As you mentioned, it's more than likely that we will get another Hulkbuster with the impending release of the Avengers film.

I personally like the current Hulkbuster; it's an exceedingly faithful representation of the original mid-90's armor. The movie's Hulkbuster looks pretty close to the original, with the only differences being some latches and accoutrements added here and there that I assume are aimed at creating a more modern sensibility for the design. The new version doesn't look more modern to me, it just looks like an overdone version of the 90's armor. Different simply for the sake of being such...

If there is going to be a new Hulkbuster, I'd prefer one that more closely resembled the version used by Stark following the Hulk's return to Earth in the 'World War Hulk' story. To offer up a tweaked version of the 1994(?) armor seems like a waste of effort.

For me, the pick you posted elicited the opposite response to your comparison between the Thrasher fig and the Hulkbuster. What I see is a Thrasher toy that does not exceed by much (if at all) the aesthetic presentation of a fig made almost ten years ago...the Hulkbuster still holds up in my opinion.

a Hasbro hulk-buster hmmmm already got the toybiz one which is perfect i doubt Hasbro will make it , then again its got ironman written on it so maybe if we get avengers wave 3

I couldn't disagree with you more good sir. The Toybiz armor was great during its time, but it is not a faithful representation of the comic armor to me, but then again it depends on who's drawing it. In fact I much prefer what the MU 3.75" did with this armor in term or aesthetic presentation. Articulation in the arms and the lack of a fist option are certainly things I wish this figure did better, otherwise, what I wanted this pic to point out is that figures can get better.

If you hold the Thrasher armor in your hand alongside Toybiz Hulkbuster you will see the differences. Let's not even get into faithful representation of the source material because Thrasher wins hands down being an exact replica of Capullo's artwork brought to life. Every finger is individually jointed down to the knuckles, and hell his Bruce Wayne head's the same size as Stark's, roughly, and with an armor that dwarfs the guy supposed to be fighting the Hulk, so yeah I think Hukbuster shows its age today. It doesn't look bad in a hall of armor display, that's for sure and I'm definitely not saying I don't like the figure, only that a movie based ML figure of the armor is anticipated by me after receiving the Thrasher figure.

It's funny you mentioned the WWH armor. I thought that design was the blockiest piece of junk I ever saw short of his Phoenix buster armor in AvX. What the movie version has done with Hulkbuster is exactly what I wanted from that armor. It even maintains its modular approach the comics did by forming around Stark's Mark XLIII, only the armor seems to fly towards him through mental command having perfected what his MK XLII prototype was trying to accomplish. Advantage MCU, IMO.

@Greenscar

I'm not surprised you feel that way...you have every right to feel whatever way you choose. I disagree with you and that's ok too...

Take some dynamic pics for me (anyone who's willing really). Show me its articulation in comparison to the older toy. I don't own the figure...educate me. Those pics were not convincing enough and that's what I responded to...

I'll pose-up the Hulkbuster...we could do a pose off lol

Lmao. Pose off accepted! Should probably make a separate thread. I'll have to wait until I get home from work later though.

@Greenskar

LOL Awesome! I'll check back.....

decepticon_mark 12-29-2014 11:56 AM

There are a lot if I took time to really think about it but my top 5 would probably be (in no certain order). Daredevil,a classic Cap, a good Hulk (articulation, size, and good classic face like the MU one last year),Elektra, and Jigsaw. Honorable mention to X characters who Hasbro/Marvel are currently shafting...Kitty Pryde,Apocalypse,Lady Deathstrike, and dang it a Nightcrawler on the Superior Spiderman buck.

No pose off?

Well, I took some preliminary pics before we move to another thread. I was able to surprise even myself with some of the poses I could get the Hulkbuster to assume. Given time, I'm certain I can tease out a reasonable variety of poses from this large/bulky fig design.

Mind you, I picked an unlikely antagonist for my thematic battle with the Hulkbuster. I've never actually seen a Hulkbuster succeed in its intended task of busting a Hulk. Fighting? Yes. Busting? No. So, I picked a substitute jade hero: Savage Dragon. It seemed appropriate, because his smaller stature allows the Hulkbuster to be seen while grappling.

Until I see otherwise, I still maintain that the Hulkbuster holds its own against most large figs whether they came out then (2005) or now....That said, everyone one is entitled to whatever "remakes" they'd like...if you've lost interest in our pose off (lol)...I understand. I thought it'd be more fun than arguing ad nauseam over subjective opinions that are not (in all likelihood) going to change. Additionally, I obviously like taking pics and will create any excuse to do so. It helps me improve at the process and, like you, I think the efficacy of taking pics to illustrate a point is undeniable...depending on the picture that is... ;)

PS: sorry Spyne for the tangential hijack here....it's still sort of on topic.

Spyne98 01-03-2015 05:38 AM

I still love the old Hulkbuster. A new one would be cool, but I don't feel like we need one.

Colder Soldier 01-03-2015 10:59 AM

I still appreciate my ML Hulkbuster, but if Marvel Select comes out with a movie Hulkbuster- of course I'm buying it. :)

It's also a weird coincidence that my ML Hulkbuster stands directly behind Savage Dragon on the bottom of my toy shelves.

Age of Ultron will give us a new Bat-Armor figure?

I kid, I kid. Though, that comparison does do little to illustrate your point. ;)

That is a strange occurrence. Maybe your figs on display communed with my figs in boxes and my figs subliminally influenced me to use them for this pose off.....and just maybe....I need a psych. eval....I'm sure a talented professional could find that I meet the parameters of at least one psychological malady in the DSM 5! Not a hard thing to do by the way, the threshold for mental illness is much lower nowadays than it has been in the recent past....a convenient phenomenon that makes it easier for pharma to peddle psychotropic medications....capitalism: such a beautifully well oiled machine...before any free market warriors attack...I'm joking (kinda) ;)

Also, Greenskar's pics for our pose-off demonstrated that Thasher is a very sweet fig.! I still love my Hulkbuster....even if he can't "bust" a Hulk

I need to tap your services for captions in the future! lol I didn't intentionally reproduce RAW for my pictorial throw-down...I now feel like I should have talked to Vince first.....The second round was less WWE and more comic-panel-esque!

I'd really like to see a new Spiral. Marvel now or even the classic one. Beta Ray Bill is another I'd get immediately.

Starlord67 02-17-2015 06:22 PM

Love to see Electra and Psylocke redone on the new female buck

papashango 02-17-2015 06:32 PM

Taskmaster with a new head sculpt and not so scrawny body.

BAD MOON 02-18-2015 08:14 AM

Tomb of Dracula using new Coulson suit body.

warmachine6 02-18-2015 10:13 AM

All the x-men ... hasbro should stop with classics looks espically for magneto etc, i don't mind them but i do when they repeat them
2016 seems to the x-men year via films with gambit , deadpool and apoclaypse involved. Hopefully i can complete a modern team

Captain Nash 02-18-2015 10:15 AM

I am most pleased that Dr. Strange IS getting an update this year. I know I'm likely in the minority but I can't stand his iconic look, it's so tacky and overdone. I really like his more subdued black/ with a little red outfit.

I agree with you. I normally keep one of every costume when I collect Marvel Legends, but I might break that rule with the new Strange. I like the look of the new figure much more than the old.

Starlord67 02-19-2015 12:25 PM

Updates needed; Phoenix/Dark Phoenix , Namor(speedo) , Silver Surfer, Electra
90's Cyclops & 90`s Psylocke. Just my 2¢

Frank Richards 02-19-2015 05:36 PM

While integrating some new flight stands into my Fantastic Four Marvel Legends display this afternoon, I realized that while we have had five opportunities to assemble a comprehensive, (relatively) uniform set of comic-based Fantastic Four figures (all contingent on the presence of an Invisible Woman figure), the ones available are either badly outdated, or just weren't that great to begin with. Specifically, Toy Biz's offerings seem outdated, while the two Hasbro sets are just bad. Really bad, lol !

A couple of months ago, in this thread, I mentioned that while we especially need a new updated Invisible Woman figure, I doubt we'd ever see one since Marvel is doing all they can to downplay the Fantastic Four.
It's a shame that the Fantastic Four are in such great need of good, updated figures, but are probably the least likely of any Marvel characters to receive them due to the current treatment of the F4 by Marvel.

Personally, I'm anxious to see what Marvel chooses to do with the members of the F4 after their book ends in April. At all appearances, Marvel seems adamant about breaking up the team, so it could be years from now, after the movie comes and goes, and the F4 is reassembled in some fashion, that we finally get a new set of matching Fantastic Four Marvel Legends.

jmurray90720 02-22-2015 04:27 PM

Elektra
Black Widow
Rogue
Psylocke
Arachne
Jen Walters She Hulk
Kitty Pryde

That's about it for me.

Starlord67 02-23-2015 08:24 AM

Oh yes.. Kitty Pryde for sure on the new teenage buck!! I agree the Invisible Woman as well as Black widow need updates as well. Wow my list just keeps on growing.

Captain Nash 02-23-2015 09:45 PM

If we get another Kitty Pryde I'll be darned if it's anything besides the blue outfit she wore in the 80's for X-Men/Excalibur.
