Anything else from the past such as the video games (The Force Unleashed for example), and novels now fall under a new brand, called Star Wars Legends, and are not officially canon material.

Outside of that, the only new canon material being produced right now is Rebels and the ongoing Marvel Comic series, as well as the next series of films. All material produced from here on out will have to run through a committee at Lucasfilm for approval to integrate into the universe, otherwise it immediately falls under the SW Legends banner.

Which I call horse shit on, The Force Unleashed used its "made by George Lucas as the official bridge between the trilogies" as the game's main advertising draw and now Disney's like "uhh no." Just like the original and better Clone Wars series was overseen by George Lucas and ended up being in total its own movie in length which perfectly bridged Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith, and even has a part were you can insert the later The Clone Wars creating one big bridge (though the 2008 show creates plot holes in RotS). Apparently if George Lucas had a hand to play in media like that it just doesn't count because Disney wants to create its own shit which could in theory suck. Not saying that I think the new movies will suck, but I don't think they'll be good yet either. Why couldn't they get rid of Jar Jar instead of some stuff that some fans did enjoy?

I like Jar Jar. Have since Phantom Menace came out, but I do acknowledge that he is the single greatest mistake to ever come from the franchise. I am forgiving though, and I still find Phantom Menace very enjoyable.

I'm also forgiving of how utterly stupid the majority of Return of the Jedi is despite considering it to be The Attack of the Clones of the OT (shit overall, with a few redeeming scenes and events). Either way, whether it be the Ewoks, Jar Jar, or most of the writing from RotJ/AotC, you can't just erase it from canon because people don't like it. At least not if they appeared in the main movies.

Yeah, each.

No no no, that goddamn Ewoks cartoon was the greatest mistake, or the green bunny man from the old comics, or the Star Wars Holiday Special (except for the animated sequence with Boba Fett which was enjoyable), or a ton of other stuff. We forget all too often about how terribly bad our beloved franchise has been dragged through shit with some of the original expanded media stuff. As to Jar Jar, it worked. His sole purpose was to be a kid appeal character (him and lil' Ani who is also a stain on the series) and he did draw in a lot of kids to the series. Fortunately most of them grew up and with that diminished their liking of the weird frog/duck/alien. However, Jar Jar was also unnecessary. Most kids would've still wanted to see that movie because it was Star Wars, I was born post RotJ but I still knew what Star Wars was since I was three so wanting to see a new movie was already a thing, that and Jar Jar and most of the new aliens in TPM are stereotypes.

I believe Simon Pegg summed it up fairly in Spaced (it was a TV show)
