This.

Though I'm also lucky in having the mcdonalds 2k heman figure, he's pretty much 3.75 he-man.

Hows the articulation on him?

Hmm so the response so far is positive, so my next question is....is it possible?

I never liked Mattel's customer department and they seem to be more into 6 inch figures then the smaller scale

Very possible if you take a gander at what Tri-Gate has created in the 3.75" scale...custom versions of our favorite Masters

Exactly.

MOTU would only ever come out in 3.75"-scale if Mattel chooses to do so. Hasbro is only being used in this discussion as an example of how good 3.75"-scale lines could be, versus Mattel's own attempt at a DC 3.75" line (DCIH). I think most of us agree that Hasbro does that scale better than Mattel.

I will say that the Avatar style of articulation was a huge step up for Mattel. If they would move more towards the 4 inch scale as opposed to 3.75 inches and use that Avatar-articulation--they would be set.

From what I've seen of the line, they do look better than DCIH but that's not saying much.

As for 4" versus 3.75", I'm all for it if the character warrants the extra 1/4 inch, such as Mumm-Ra, The Everliving.

miketime 09-07-2011 10:52 AM

I am trying to make a 4 inch He-Man line for myself. It needs to be done and I do not think we will ever see one hit retail. If the new movie comes out we may see something but it will most likely be all related to that new movie.

MegsTriggerMan 09-07-2011 02:33 PM

I would LOVE to see a 3 3/4 He-man line ........... as long as it wasnt made by Mattel.

Same here. Articulation is pretty basic for Heman and Skeletor. Ram man and man at Arms have gimmicks that limit their articulation.

CLASSIFIED 09-07-2011 06:19 PM

I would like to see a kid friendly MOTU 3.75" line with spring loaded waists, ball and socket jointed neck, shoulders and hips, and socket and plug ankles and wrists, where the heads, arms, legs, feet, and hands are all interchangeable.

They should emphasis the potential for customizability.

Play-sets, vehicles, and oversized beasts for He Man to bash should be selling points, as well as a special play feature/ "power" for each figure. For example Mer Man could change color underwater.

Ha would never happen because Mattel owns MOTU.

Optimus Vader 09-08-2011 03:38 AM

I wouldn't buy them unless they were done very well. I've become accustomed to how nice The Classics are, so they'd really need to be done right in order for me to buy any.

tlasjr 09-11-2011 10:22 PM

Actually to answer the question, no, I have my Heman and Skeletor so Im all set. Could maybe use 2 more Hemans to custom up Adam and faker though

Shawn Woodbeck 09-12-2011 04:39 PM

HELL YEAH!!!! For me collecting the MOTUC was too expensive. I think if they did it in 4 or 3.75 the price would be lower and more affordable. The MOTUC line IMO is awesome but, is STRICTLY for adult collectors who remember the 80's cartoon series, the toys of our youth, and -gasp- the movie.
If they did it in a smaller scale I would be on it. Plus, I think it would give our kids something new to collect and play with. I also agree with everyone about playsets, bigger monsters, and vehicles. The possibilities are phenomenal.
If it were to be done it would NEED to be done well.

Blood 09-12-2011 09:18 PM

I really would like it but they need to be awesome

thechris 09-12-2011 10:49 PM

Oh yes, most definitely. :)

Solrac333 09-13-2011 10:19 AM

No. I like them as they are now.

Colder Soldier 09-18-2011 09:06 PM

Yes.

GIJoe and MOTUC are currently my favorite lines because they were my favorite franchises since childhood. I would def buy 1/18th MOTU. As I would 1/12th Joes. As long as they all look good (no more S6 or Infinite Heroes crap)!

In this perfect world I could finally play out the Cobra-La/King Hssss idea that I often mentally entertain. And He-Man and Zodak could team up with Cap and the Avengers and help save the Jedi from the "Order 66" plot the Joes uncovered.

Yep. I like toys.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

I'm all for it, as long as it's aimed at the proper audience: kids. I'm sick of all the attention the "adult" collectibles market is getting, at the expense of the kids. I Like the MOTUC line, and I own He-Man and Skeletor, but I really want something for my two sons to play with. I managed to snag some used eBay MOTU2002 toys, but they aren't to scale with any of the current toys kids are playing with these days. I say Mattel should open up the MOTU franchise to as much as Hasbro has whored out Transformers or Marvel. Lets have 4in figures. Let's have Little People He-man play sets. Build up a new generation of fans instead of trying to milk every penny from the cheeto-coated fingers of the 40yr old unkempt nerd in his mom's basement.

Umm this makes no sense at all. Most if not all toys are aimed at the kids market.

This deserves its own thread.

Forgive me for not quoting Webz. I can relate to the frustration of seeing a very cool modern MOTU toy line and not being able to buy them from the local toy store. I would normally complain that there should be a more balanced focus for the target audience. However, I really think Mattel has done a wonderful thing by making these figures better than the classic/ vintage toys and also paying tribute through their likeness. This means it costs more than most individual figures in the store so I will have to pass on collecting them. I would like to see them continue with MOTUC until all original characters have been made. Then if they get bored, they can make some in a smaller scale. Until then, we can always find cheap vintage heman people for the kids.

Not even. Go to your local Toys R Us. They have 2 aisles full of "Adult Collectibles." Also, look at the designs of many of today's toys. They go so overkill with "detail" that they sacrifice play value. Transformers are an EXCELLENT example of that. Leader-Class toys are in NO way intended to ever be in the hands of a child. Many voyager class Transformers require parental intervention to transform too, due to the extreme complication of the toy. In '84 when I had the entire G1 line, I never had a problem with a single TF toy as a 7 year old. Hasbro has become a LOT better with their super hero figures, adding ball joints and articulation, but most of the characters are ones only the most die-hard adult collector would know of or want. No kid knows who the Taskmaster is. No kid wants the 1978 variant of Wolverine's costume from issue 198 on page 5. The toy market seems so intense on picking the pocket of aging nerds rather than cultivate a relationship with the next generation of nerds.

Case in point: My 6 year old son really wanted an Optimus Prime toy. I gave him a Voyager movie Prime. That thing spends 99% of it's time in a bin, too difficult for him to enjoy, since it takes 10 months to transform.... meanwhile, he's always trying to sneak away with my G1 Prime I've had since the 80's. It transforms in 45 seconds and has TONS of play value.

We go to the toy aisle, does he reach for a toy of the Wrecking Crew? Nope. He digs around for a character or two he actually recognizes from the cartoons. He wants Venom, not Tarantula. Doctor Doom, not Taskmaster. That's all. Don't get me wrong, I don't care that Hasbro makes a Taskmaster toy, but I do get upset that there is one Green Goblin and 12 Taskmasters per shipment. That's all. Hopefully this clears it up.
