Static Shock, awesome!

snake5289 07-12-2015 12:58 PM

Is that what Static originally looked like before the cartoon? Wow.

I too prefer the animated version. This is Black Lightning dressed for yoga class. All that's missing is the yoga mat accessory.

Poison Shadow 07-12-2015 02:05 PM

THAT'S the costume they chose for Static? Yikes.

salsa4datass 07-12-2015 02:10 PM

In the 90's DC had an imprint called Milestone. The Milestone line was mostly populated by black and hispanic superhero characters and was meant to appeal to black and hispanic readers. Some of them were pretty cool. This was Static's original costume but he always wore a long baggy brown coat over it kinda like Gambit's. Maybe this figure is in the prototype phase and they haven't given him the jacket yet or they've just decided to omit the jacket. It would be really cool if they gave him a cloth jacket with wires in it so you could pose him flying on the man hole cover with the jacket in a dynamic pose.

Apparently Denys Cowan and Reginald Hudlin hosted a Milestone panel, and along with soooo much great information they provided about their upcoming Milestone relaunch, Cowan claimed that he's designed quite a few Milestone figures for DC Collectibles, so hopefully we'll get a modern Static to go along with the classic version.

Personally, I like the classic look, but after over a decade of seeing him portrayed with a more animated-influenced look, I too have grown accustomed to the newer style.
