I think it may be possible that Hush draws some influence from the Phantasm but I don't think that he was for sure made to be a parallel. Elliot and Bruce were like buddies since childhood and had their split while they were still kids, Andrea didn't meet Bruce until both were adults and their relationship was romantically involved so there is a big difference in what both characters meant to Bruce when they knew him. Mainly though when Andrea became the Phantasm it was never her intention to hurt Bruce but rather to get revenge on the mob, Thomas on the other hand was strictly trying to get the Bat/Bruce. Lastly Hush had to be told who Batman was in what is in my opinion a very lame twist (I just really don't like the Riddler) while Andrea deduced his identity on her own (though he sort of let it slip). Like I said there are definitely some similar traits but I don't know how much I'd say that Hush was meant to be adapted from or based on the Phantasm. |
