i would really much rather have had a nice big more classic looking venom.

i'm a quasi spider-man fan.. a great looking venom is definitely something i would've bought. this thing on the other hand just looks like a bad repaint.

Well they did show that they are making the classic Venom so now we just have to wait. Or if you're impatient and don't mind mixing lines/scales you can get the Select Venom.

White Tiger is now posted up for your viewing pleasure.

Superior Venom to me is the worst figure of the wave. He is just a terrible figure no matter what. The arms on the back can't be posed and the fall out. His head looks stupid. The webbing on his head and upper chest does not make sense since the rest of his body doesn't have webbing.

I have no problem posing the arms on the back of the figure. The plastic on them is soft enough that you can insert them, then twist to give them a little bit of swivel. They also hold in a lot better than they do when just plugging them in.

I really liked the head sculpt on the figure. It has a very creepy vibe to it, and it's a lot easier to me to distinguish the features on the figure than it was in the comic. The webbing also makes decent enough sense, with it being a symbiotic take on the Superior Spider-Man costume, which was mostly black with webbing only being featured on the upper body. I like the tattered webbing look as well, it reminded me a lot of the look of Venom's costume from Spider-Man 3, which I know is a black eye to many, but as a huge Venom fan, I honestly didn't mind it as much as most. Now Topher Grace on the other hand...ahem...that's a discussion for another time.

Great photos on White Tiger. While I think she was the worst figure in this wave, I actually think that says a lot, because most of the other figures were really that damn good. This one is no different. The only thing that's weird to me about this White Tiger figure is the proportions, she uses the teenage Jubilee buck, which says to me that this is the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon version of the character, yet she wears the amulet around her neck and not her belt, which tells me that this is the Marvel 616 version. Yet...that version is an adult woman (at least she looks it...she might be a teenager but who knows for sure,)...so...which version of White Tiger is this?

Boy Blunder 09-12-2015 07:34 PM

I don't get the Agent Venom hate, he's probably my favorite Venom thus far. Superior Venom though, he can go jump in a lake.

Can't wait to get my hands on that White Tiger, man. I'm cool with the hybrid of 616 and cartoon Tiger. I'm just hoping I find a Misty to go with her that doesn't have wall-eye.

It's because they completely neutered the character, early Agent Venom was a mixed reception because they made him a straight up good guy and Venom has always been either an evil monster or a delusional anti-hero who was still rather vicious and cruel. Agent Venom on the other hand was all clean cut and by the books, sometimes, and that's why early Agent Venom was alright is because there was that constant idea that the symbiote wanted Flash to just unleash and kill everybody. I also think most fans don't like how much they made him a gun-toting arsenal, he has Spider-Man super powers already so why does he need a gun type thinking. All things considered though Agent Venom was a goddamned blessing compared to that shit-pile they call Venom now, peacekeepin' lawman my ass.

snake5289 09-12-2015 10:24 PM

As far as I'm concerned Venom ceased to exist once Brock stopped being the host.

^^ This...but especially the part in bold. The early concepts of Flash Venom had a neat premise to it (even if it was ripping off Blade,) as the symbiote constantly had to be drugged and weakened to be kept in check, or else Flash would lose himself to it and succumb to it's murderous intent. Of course, Marvel couldn't wait to dump this concept so they could cash in, allowing him to gain more and more control until finally, we get Space Knight lawman (along with it's stupid retcon.)

My biggest issue is that they dumped the concept of the anti-hero, who was not inherently evil, who believed in morality and faith, yet conflicted by something inside of him that was highly murderous and psychotic (Brock) in favor of something ultimately more marketable to children and cartoons...the squeaky clean, war wounded soldier who gets a second chance at his hard knocks by becoming a squeaky clean government agent with super-powers. It became a parody of earlier Marvel works as it was nearly a direct reboot if you will of the excellent "What If" story that Marvel put out decades earlier (What Venom had possessed the Punisher?) only with less interesting motivations.

That said, I keep hoping that they take Brock and give him a major push in the near future now that he's Toxin. I still see potential there, and while I don't want him to become "Red Venom 2.0", I always thought the Toxin symbiote, his powers, character traits and nuances presented some angles(as seen during the Patrick Mulligan years) that could be carried down onto Eddie to make for some interesting stories...Unless of course, they plan on turning Toxin into a "Space Knight" like Venom is...since the symbiotes are now a "proud and honorable race" of do-gooders.

Boy Blunder 09-13-2015 03:16 AM

To be fair I've never been a huge Spidey fan (mild at best, during the mid-90s), so I guess I'm not feeling that level of... betrayal?

But I guess I'm just weird in the first place for enjoying the run of Guardians that Venom's been a part of.

Eh, whatevs. You like what you like, right? :D

That's kind of how I feel. Although, I'm not a big fan of the symbiotes in general. I like Venom and Carnage, but it started to get out of control after a while. They just don't fit with Spider-Man. His enemies are pretty much experiments gone wrong, but the Symbiotes are aliens.

Speaking of betrayal :mad1

I really really disliked Bendis' GotG run, and I think it's another case of being a fan of what came previously. Like you said the Venom shifts don't bother you because you were never that into him, I have to assume the same goes for GotG. Bendis did what he does and started changing stuff up for no reason except to maybe please movie-only fans (there are a ton, especially when it comes to GotG) and he started wrecking character traits. Most of the members of the modern GotG pretty much did little to nothing important prior to the comic itself. Star-lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Bug were basically nobodies. But through the DnA run we got a very nice dirty-dozen type story where Star-lord led a team of misfits (and Adam Warlock) trying to genuinely save the galaxy and reality. Now with Bendis the team had been cut down to only its movie members and members started resembling the movie too much. Star-lord was already a smart-ass but he was brave and committed, now he is trying to sleep with every girl in a bar. Gamora became way more preachy and Drax more barbaric. In vol 2 (DnA) they were constantly going around looking broken parts of the galaxy/reality to fix, they spent most of vol 3 (Bendis) evading Star-lord's dad until Black Vortex gave them a true galactic threat. Quick summary: GotG used to try to be heroes, now they're outlaws. I loved the movie but it rubbed off on the comics way too much.

I guess Bendis' run has its merits but because it is an established team he messed with too much. If you took the same story he told and changed every single character to somebody totally new, maybe then it could have been enjoyable. As is we have another Bendiside.

I got mine from e-bay a guy obviously bought the figures for the build a figures and I only paid $1.94 over retail and got Scarlett Spider for $25.

I wasn't going to get into them but I was watching Hulk and the Agents of Smash and I watched the Ghost Rider episode.

I can't wait, I have to find some kind of chain thing or a shotgun anyone know where to get one for him?

Scarlet Spider is now up!

Harbinger 09-14-2015 06:23 PM

Scarlett spider is probably my favorite version of the character. I want this badly but no sightings of rhino or even hb in my neck of the woods unless i wanna buy em at overpriced scalper shops n garbage like that.

snake5289 09-14-2015 06:25 PM

I miss Ben. Figure looks awesome.

En Sabah Nerd 09-14-2015 07:37 PM

I think we just have to be patient for this wave to become more distributed. My local TRU opened a couple of cases of this wave last weekend, Scarlet Spider was the only one I wanted so he was the only one I got. I'll wait until the end of the month to open him on my birthday, it makes it special that way.

Startaiger 09-15-2015 04:46 AM

WTF!!! For 20 years, everybody (myself included) hated Scarlet Spider, at best he was joke material. Now everyone goes "I love him, I miss him, he's my fav,...".
Why the change of opinion, did I miss something??

Dr Kain 09-15-2015 05:52 AM

I never hated Scarlet Spidey or Ben Reily. Hell I liked the Ben Reilly costume back in the 90s. It's just that the whole clones thing was poorly written.

snake5289 09-15-2015 08:52 AM

Yeah never hated Ben. Of course I was a child when he was around so all I knew was there were two Spider-Mans.

To be fair i never hated him. I always liked his scarlett spider costumer. Did i care for how they dogged the caharacter....no as i felt he coulda been a good character in his own right but he got a bad deal so he gott offed. Personally i woulda rather kaine been killed and ben brought back.

DESTRO 09-15-2015 06:31 PM

And the last set is the BAF Rhino, by far the best one Hasbro has done so far.

Truth be told...I was scratching my head over the same thing after seeing the love and claims that Scarlett Spider would be the hot seller of the wave (which...it hasn't been I'm sure. My stores are LOADED with SS.) In fact...it was the clone saga story line that not only got me to stop buying comics, but to stop watching the cartoon on FOX as well when they decided to do their take on it. I hated the idea of Spider-Man being a clone (despite being told to comic fans for nearly 30 years that he was the one and only) and ended up loathing the various clone characters that came along with it. It also set up the return of Norman Osborne, which, while a Green Goblin fan, I also felt was a huge cop-out, diminishing the powerful tale of tragedy that was the death of Gwen Stacy.

That said...I did buy SS, but more because I love that "pizza" Spidey mold and can't get enough of it. I guess it kinda also shows how much Hasbro is hitting it out of the park as of late with Legends, if they can get a guy who HATES the Ben Reilly character to pick up a figure based on him...lol.

That said...this might be one of my favorite waves of Legends figures ever, even more so than the Green Goblin wave, which I honestly felt did not have one bad figure in it, and would be hard to top. The Rhino is impressive (although I do like my ToyBiz Fearsome Foes version a hair better) and every figure (cept maybe Misty Knight, who I did not pick up) was a knockout for me. Including Scarlett Spider.

And that just made me throw up in my mouth a little just saying that. =D

Really? Ben didn't appear until the next to last episode, I'm sure you could power through after that now.

Anyway, I think while popular Scarlet Spider will be easy to find since he's the only two per case figure, so people will find the remains of case usually being 1 SS and either a Misty or a White Tiger. But I think this Wave is so good those figures most people are going to find empty pegs.

In my area the ones who aren't selling are Superior Venom and Misty Knight, Scarlet Spider actually sold out pretty fast.
