So I take it this was a popular video game? Just kidding,I played until my thumbs went numb, can't wait for these!!!!

Harbinger 12-05-2015 10:24 AM

My thumbs still ache. ;)

jestermon 12-06-2015 05:33 PM

These look nice I don't remember this game for some reason.

Frank Richards 12-06-2015 07:06 PM

Not only are these figures VERY exciting, they also open the door to the possibility of NECA releasing other figures from classic games.

Personally, I've wanted a decent set of Double Dragon figures ever since those awful ones that Tyco gave us back in the 90's !

You and me both. I keep pestering Randy about it. Even mocked up a faux box for it.

Oh man, would love to see NES Double Dragon. Two sets of figures. Jimmy and Billy Lee. Abobo and Machine Gun Willy.

Personally, I'd want an entire line. Most of the cast has numerous simple repaint possibilities, and then many others require some retooling. Out of 1 mold, you can get 5 figures:

Billy, Jimmy - DD1
Jeff - DD1 - Could you some retooling on head, but not required
Billy, Jimmy - DD2

Then Williams, Roper, and Abobo all had multiple color versions throughout the many iterations of DD1.

Thanks! I appreciate that. I've actually done a bunch of them. Even a Faux Sega Genesis style NECA logo.

Awesome stuff!

Startaiger 12-10-2015 09:31 PM

Amazing work, Joe!! Ninja Gaiden would be an instant purchase for me.
I love the idea of Double Dragon figures as well, but clearly i'd prefer a Street of Rage set!!
With a sound chip playing the intro theme when you open the box!!! I can dream, right!?!

Joe Moore 12-11-2015 04:39 AM

Thanks guys. Really appreciate the kind words. There are so many classic games I'd like to see. If they ever got Sega properties, that would be amazing. Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Streets of Rage, etc. All instant purchases.

Streets of Rage is one of those franchises that I would LOVE to see figures of, although the chances of ever seeing those figures are pretty much nonexistent, lol.

It's a shame that SoR doesn't appeal to gamers' sense of nostalgia in the same way that Double Dragon does, especially since SoR was, in many ways, a FAR better franchise.
Granted, DD kinda helped get the ball rolling by being one of the first notable games in the "beat 'em up" genre. But, I digress...

But anyways, Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, and especially Final Fight are definitely the top 3 in my list of franchises that I wish would receive NECA's Classic Game (or are they still using the Player Select moniker ?) treatment.

The NECA Amazon store doesn't have them in as of this post when I just checked they're still sold out there. On their eBay it's $43.99 plus shipping so it should be that same price since every other item shares price between their eBay and Amazon stores although often the eBay store will have a little bit less shipping cost depending on the selected method.

starsabered 08-13-2016 08:23 PM

I've been a big fan of this line, but they really should have found a better way to design the "pixelated crotch" on these figures. Now that I've seen it, I can't unsee it... NSFW

Wonderful Toys 08-14-2016 06:53 PM

Why are so many video game companies resistant to licensing their properties to western adult collector figure makers like NECA? Like Nintendo will license to SH Figuarts but have turned down NECA numerous times.

Japanese elitists, well maybe not all of them but some. I know Konami has been very vocal in their Japanese favoritism, it'd be like if Lucasfilm decided that from now on all foreign companies can no longer make Star Wars figures because they're American and so only Americans can be trusted to do it right. It's a stupid philosophy which only hinders their own market but it's how some of them wanna do it.

Wow, Joe, those boxes are incredible! One of my favorite things about these Ultimate and VGA figs is that we get a high quality poster/cover art print with the figure.

Did you actually print out the Double Dragon one? And if so, where did you to print it? It came out very clean and sturdy looking.

And the Contra games are great! If you have a Wii, they have several installments on the VC.
Check out some vids to see how epic the SNES game is.

This is seriously the lowest your going to find this set. Just $17 and in stock now. Crazy.

Sorry, I missed this post. Thanks for the kind words. I didn't print out the Double Dragon. Just a mock up over top of a photo I took. the older ones I've done were lower resolution. My newer designs have all been hi-res.
