I'm the same way.

She will always be She-Thor to me. Because as said, it's not a title, it's a name. It's a name of a God. Captain America, I can understand. His name is Steve Rogers so someone else could take the title of Captain America. Thor's name is....Thor...how do you just change that? It's not a title!

Anyways, i hope to find these soon as they do make up the bulk of what I'm purchasing for this line the first half of this year.

snake5289 02-08-2016 11:42 AM

^^ Exactly. Even though Steve will always be Cap to me it at least makes sense. It's like when Dick took up the mantle of Batman for awhile. He wasn't Bruce he just wore the Batsuit.

Jane may have the powers of Thor but SHE. IS. NOT. THOR.

You guys must have really thrown a fit at Eric Masterson

Why? he went by the name of Thunderstrike. He was an obvious replacement for Thor but he didn't go around calling himself Thor.

snake5289 02-08-2016 01:05 PM

Did he wield Mjolnir or did he have his own hammer like Beta Ray Bill?

And wrong.

And he was Thor. While the Odinson was in Hell. And he was Thor, called Thor, for 27 issues. No one seemed to throw a fit about Thor being a name then.

Captain Nash 02-08-2016 01:22 PM

Fair enough, I stand corrected. In his solo series he was known as Thunderstrike. The only explanations I could give are: A) He looks exactly like Thor and B) The internet has increased the prominence of complaints, for better or worse. But you do have a point and I appreciate you pointing out my error to me. Learn something new every day :)

A third possibility though is possession which is a bit murkier.

He was trapped in Masterson's subconscious, but that wasn't revealed until 457. Odinson returned in 459, had the obligatory fight, and resumed control of the title. At which point Masterson spun off and got the Thunderstrike identity.

That it was before my time. I know a wee bit about Thunderstrike but I've never seen that.

Not the same 6 figures. The only 2 remakes of characters are Thor and Iron Man and this is a long awaited version of Iron Man and plus more Iron Man suits are awesome! However, no one loves that Thor.

snake5289 02-08-2016 02:04 PM

Guess not otherwise all the 6 inch Caps and IMs wouldn't be collecting dust in all the local stores around here.

I recall the biggest reason for Masterson still calling himself Thor was that none of the other heroes knew of the real Thor's "death" and so Masterson was using his name to not cause a panic. It gets referenced to during the Infinity Gauntlet when half-of-everybody dies and he lies about knowing the deceased well to keep up the appearance that he's the original Thor.

Regardless, he calls himself Thor while alone refers to himself as "The new Thor" right away.

And then there's Red Norvell.

If you're complaining about people calling themselves Thor when it's a name not a title, well you're 38 years late on the issue.

snake5289 02-08-2016 04:47 PM

Well that guy looks like a villainous a-hole so I'm not counting him and again that was before my time.

I'm not even 30 yet so I'll complain about whatever I please. I'm a grown man-child and this is the internet. I'm pretty sure it's the law.

It's a name and a title! I think most people who are genuinely complaining are the people who only started giving a shit about comics again a few years ago when the movies kicked in and have forgotten about how many "Thors" there have been.

snake5289 02-08-2016 05:39 PM

You might be right. I was always an X-Men boy growing up so I don't know too much about the early days of Avengers characters other than maybe Hulk. Hell Ant-Man's my favorite Avenger and all around one of my favorite characters in comics and I didn't really get into the deep history until my later teens. Hank may have been the first Ant-Man but much like Cap or Batman when Scott dons the helmet he's not becoming Hank Pym. I guess it's because Thor doesn't have an separate identity anymore. He is Thor Odinson so seeing anyone else go by "Thor" for me just feels wrong.

I know and love Beta Ray Bill though.

As every one should. Bill is an all around amazing character who looks cool (unless you're vehemently opposed to horses) and has a nice tragic character arc. He's the cool alien-Thor who is actually better than Thor since he beat Thor when neither had a magical hammer.

snake5289 02-08-2016 10:40 PM

Still waiting for him to appear in the MCU.
