Exactly. I remember it seemed mid to late 90s all the toy lines had 3 inch figs. Johnny quest. Star wars. Cgi voltron. Gijoe. And then Hasbro took gijoe to the 2.5 and 5 inch scale with gijoe extreme and and another toon I cant remember and that about the time I recall the 6 inch scale became the big thing. And I think for almost ten years the 3.75 scale was looked at as kiddie toys with every few lines going that small until the modern times were released by Hasbro and then marvel u a few years later and we had a good ten year run with 3.75 scale again but now the 6 inch scale has been making its come back and despite both scale seemily doing well no one seems to really want to do both scales and most 3.75 figs have gone back in articulation and to be honest I think the fault lies not only in the price of oil going up but in the success of the im2 line. We got 40 iron man fig that were awesome but could also prove tricky to put in certain poses due to tight parts. I cracked at least one fig and I'm betting parents of smaller kids probly ripped their right in half when tight parts popped up on them.

The only problem I had with most of my IM2 figures was the gold (mainly on the upper legs) fading really bad. I think I went through at least 2 or 3 MkIVs.

Who knows maybe somebody like Vonner will bring the line back with a vengeance some day.

I collect Legends too, but something to think about...

That's a really awesome display and I think you've pretty much highlighted the reason why I kept going with 3.75" as long as I did. You can get so many characters into just a fraction of the space it'd take to do with Legends.

On the other side of the coin, if you're into Marvel for just a small handful of figures (say you only want the Avengers or even just 90's X-Men) then you're way better off getting a larger scale. Personally I've been collecting Spider-Man and his foes from Marvel Select and while you'd be lucky to get even half the characters in the same amount of space, since I'm only going for maybe a dozen figures total it's actually worth it to try for a larger scale with better sculpting.
