With megos I feel like it's both the price and the finished look not always sitting right with me. The Hateful 8 figures I think work great as megos and some others work right as well like the Interstellar pack but then too many have the doll clothing effect where it's all poofy and bellowing. My go to is Leatherface where looking at both the ultimate and mego side by side the ult actually looks like what we saw in the movie but the mego looks like a toy-doll of what we saw. They're good products for being modern mego style figures but they're far from my cup of tea.

Yeah, the ill-fitting clothes tend to push me away, too.

Same reasoning I used when purchasing Snake. And I too ended up loving the way it turned out. Loved the Mego style Ash from Evil Dead II also, I'd gladly keep getting figures in this style if it meant someday we'd get a more standard NECA Snake Plissken, would love an Ultimate Version like we've gotten with T2 and God of War and are getting with Evil Dead.

Unfortunately, it sounds like any chance of an Ultimate Snake Plissken went down the tubes with poor Mego Snake sales.

Very cool! I missed these 7" versions back in the day so I would welcome some of these characters in the mego format. Speaking of which, I don't know how more people don't buy these. I feel like the art alone(especially the Jason Edmiston artwork)easily warrants a purchase. I still can't believe you can buy his art and a licensed figure for $25-30. Great deal!
I would really like to see a NECA TMNT Mego figure one day:)

That's too bad, guess I'm just going to consider myself lucky for grabbing one while I could. I think part of the problem they might have selling these are the fact that aside from Toys R Us, in my area (central California) you won't find these figures anywhere else in stores. So you basically have to get them online (so unless you come to this site or watch online reviews you have no idea what the final product actually looks like) and these Mego style figures tend to be the more expensive NECA figures. I think they should be trying to test the market with more regular figures, and if those do well then try their hand at the Mego style. But what do I know? I just want more like these, so I'm a happy camper.

OMG, I just noticed Spaulding's accessories...a bag of his fried chicken and two alternate middle-finger hands. I'm fucking sold.

Dolemite 06-27-2016 04:31 PM

BTW, the article said that more HO1KC figures are coming...there's actually a lot of characters from that movie that would work well as toys. Of course, there's Otis and Baby, but there's also Dr. Satan and The Professor...I'm curious what's next.

What? The only Mego style figure I (still) own is a Scott Ian figure I got for Christmas. I would have been much more interested in an ultimate version.

This feels a bit ironic after using G.I. Joe to stand in for Terminator, Road Warrior, and Escape from New York in the 80s.

The Mego style Plissken did look cool, bummer.
