Now I just need to see this elusive film so I can decide if I want to buy this figure or not.

Yea,i think that the tail is short in the Neca version.I wish Neca would make a screen accurate version of the Shin Godzilla, with the small head and arms and the freakisly long tail! These elements are what define this specific godzilla imho.

NECA Shin Godzilla Photos and Details - The Toyark - News

Looks great. Hope they come out with THAT version (the one that is more or less an Evangelion move), but this is great for $20.

dCon 01-27-2017 03:56 PM

What the hell NECA? You dropped the ball! The original sculpt was way better and the teeth are now dull? Since when did NECA Care about sharp teeth?

While on the subject, anyone know if/when the movie will be released on digital/DVD, if at all?

I own the ShMonsterarts version and this is not even close to accurate. So no its not very good at all everything that makes Shin awesome is not here. Also I heard they are not re releasing the mold (At least it's not in their plans going ahead. Think the mold is too expensive it's much larger then their usual run of the mill and it's solid unlike the others that pop apart. Thrn again ppl say I perfect copy it's never come apart with heavy posing too, and the paint is picture perfect)

Precisely!!

Dr Kain 01-27-2017 04:26 PM

Yeah, the tail issue aside, he is supposed to look like a molten mess and this just looks like they painted over a regular Godzilla suit.

CasualCollector 01-27-2017 07:12 PM

I just rewatched this, and no it doesn't have as sharp teeth, but I'm just happy I don't need to spend over $120 for a toy to represent a great design. I only wish they stuck with using smaller arms. Regardless, I'll be happy to have it on my shelf.

dukefett 01-27-2017 08:05 PM

I'll get it; worth it for the price. I'm also submitting to SHMA b/c I'm buying that exclusive version. Too awesome.

Dr Kain 01-27-2017 10:38 PM

I'm sorry guys, but I disagree. NECA can make every Xenomorph and Predator figure be 99% accurate to what is on screen and price those at $20. Yet, they can't get a Godzilla toy right? That's just flat out laziness on their part. They just don't give a damn about this line, which makes me wonder why they even have the license in the first place. IT's bad enough they only make like 1 new toy a year.

Agreed. This looks like a Godzilla repaint, not Shin Godzilla. The head sculpt and and neck kill it. That's too bad too because I would have gladly picked this up since the SH Monsterarts version has gotten such mixed reviews.

CasualCollector 01-28-2017 07:10 AM

I'm sorry this disappoints others, and I do think the head and neck should be standing a bit taller, but I like the design too much.

boombatty 01-28-2017 09:18 AM

This looks like Zombie Godzilla. I kind of dig it.

CrockAlley 01-28-2017 12:46 PM

I saw the movie twice in theaters. I'm happy with this toy. I will buy it.

Jeez man, have some tact. No need for that graphic comparison.

Dolemite 04-20-2017 08:23 AM

Doesn't Dr. Kain not like anything? :)

Anyway, I dig it this Shin Godzilla, personally, but I'm waiting to see it in-hand before I make the decision to buy. It looks good, but it seems like NECA had trouble exactly nailing it, even with the sculpt revisions.

BTW, do all the Godzilla packages have the doofy-looking pic of old-school Godzilla in the background? It's confusing.

I believe it was a design requirement from Toho. All of the G figures essentially have to have the same packaging. I hate it myself. I think it causes confusion when more than 1 is on store shelves.

snake5289 04-20-2017 09:11 AM

Huh I never noticed that all the packaging had the old Godzilla. Guess I wasn't paying close enough attention.

Anyway I like it. It's a really creepy design.

Tomax 04-20-2017 10:44 AM

i like godzilla movies but not really into collecting him. not really liking that new design thou. doesnt really have symmetry. his arms are too small for the rest of him. i know he is some sort of t-rex and their hands are like that but they over did it here

In this movie Godzilla starts as mutated bacteria/fish (something like that, I only saw it once so I don't exactly remember) as compared to the Heisei origin of mutated dinosaur-thing or even the original where he was always Godzilla. The concept of the evolving Godzilla for this new movie was a good idea but in execution the poor graphics make him funnier than interesting/scary.

As a franchise fan I was a bit let down by this movie since it focuses more on the government response and politics than on Godzilla himself but overall I did like it. Definitely didn't like Godzilla's design though so not getting this figure.

you hit the nail on the head with this comment

Dolemite 04-20-2017 02:20 PM

I honestly like Shin Godzilla's design. Not yet having seen the movie (when the hell is it coming out on video?!?), I can't say how he looks on extended viewing, but from the pics and video clips I've seen I think he looks really creepy.

The irony is that it's not even a NECA figure or a picture of the suit- it's an old Bandai Creations figure.
