I fucking despise the BAF concept.
This is the main villain of the movie and you've got to buy what, at least 6-7 other figures to get him? They did the same stupid shit with Ultron. I'll never give Hasbro money for this crap. |

I'd hope that the Vulture figure itself at least comes with the central backpack piece so that he on his own can at least have something. It'd be silly if he just had like one of the ends.

Wow....You have to give it to Hasbro Sandman BAF, Warlock BAF and now this all look so much better than what we have betting getting from them before. I don't always need the figure to be huge but I want details and paint and this looks like it has both. I hope they are wrong about the alternate head.
I assume they are doing at least 2 maybe 3 Spider waves this year so I also really hope we get a classic Vulture. Give us a comic Kingpin BAF and comic Dr. Ock BAF and Hasbro will be on fire. |
I guess they're just trying to differentiate between Vulture and Falcon, but those wings are ridiculously huge. A human being wouldn't be able to carry all that on their back. I think the only benefits of a winged backpack (or a jetpack) would be that they are compact and easily transported. It's a nice looking figure though.

It looks like he also has metal legs to help support. May be like something similar to Ironman tech.

it would've been far cheaper and better if they used dark hawk's wings. I blame the concept artist and the guy who approved it

Just noticed the talons on the feet...wish I hadn't. lol The figure sculpt at least had something positive going as a random merc/pilot, but those talons eliminate even that use. This fig is starting to feel like those movie figures of the Green Goblin...the effort is there, but the concept is lacking.

I like the design. A design closer to the comic would not have translated well to film imo.

Many of the talents associated with making these flicks aren't comic people, yet they think they know better as it relates to superhero design...riiiight. The "versus" fan-films that are all over the web prove there is no need to change classic costumes. Aspiring actors, make-up artists, costume designers, and film-makers are demonstrating that comic accurate renditions work perfectly well. If studios are still concerned that casual or uninitiated fans might be put off by the outlandish nature of super-hero duds, they shouldn't be. Casual fans follow the recommendations of their more hardcore friends. It works this way in almost every genre; music, movies, videogames, etc. Once a casual fan gets an endorsement from a friend they regard as informed or "in the know," they flock to whatever it is. Movie studios would be better served (IMO) by catering to long term aficionados and reaping the benefit of the word-of-mouth marketing generated from critical acclaim. We have moved a long way from the early 2000's and the first X-men and Spiderman films. People are ready for the actual Galactus, so move over, amorphous purple cloud.... |

Another thought. What if Michael Keaton is actually NOT the Vulture, but rather the Tinkerer? The Tinkerer has long been rumored to be a character in the film (as he is supposedly where the Shocker and Vulture receive their technology in the first place) and the recent international trailer for Homecoming has Keaton speaking to someone else as if HE is the supplier for the technology. Is it possible to have a secret like that so closely guarded in Hollywood anymore for an upcoming film? It's tough...but possible. Remember, we ALL thought Ben Kingsley was the Mandarin... Quote:

The Netflix Daredevil is a perfect example of this. I'm as big of a fan of DD's classic red spandex look as anyone else, and it would work fine for a short fan film, but I would have a difficult time suspending my belief that a man could actually go out and fight in that night after night if it was the costume being used on the show, especially with the amount of abuse DD's body takes over the course of an episode. Since the show runs over the course of a season and gives us the perception of passing time, we need to believe that there is something protecting his body other than dumb luck and Claire Temple, because otherwise, he would only be able to go out and do his Daredevil gig once a month (which would make for a less entertaining show...) Then there's the X-Men argument...but again, it boils down to director's vision. Zach Snyder wanted people to feel like they were stepping into the graphic novel when he did "Watchmen" and as a result, everything else in the movie looked like something straight out of a comic with fantasy elements to it (although even he balked to the idea of a giant squid destroying NYC.) Singer wanted his vision of the X-Men to be that of everyday people living around us, and thus a bit more grounded in reality and everyday technology (which he has been repeatedly chastised for...) that might actually exist or could be created. (The old science fiction vs science fantasy debate) People everywhere were outraged by the looks of both the Sentinels and Apocalypse in the last two X-films, wanting seamless 40 foot tall robots and blue skinned CGI behemoths with tubes coming out of their back, and while that may have looked cool, when inserted into the universe that Singer has crafted over years and years, they just would have looked impractical. Whether or not they would have improved the films is debatable (especially Apocalypse, but I felt the look and portrayal of the character was just fine) but in terms of looking out of place...they more than likely would have. |
@Triv
I appreciate where you are coming from, but I disagree on a few things. My imagination works differently, I guess, because I regard all of this as fantasy. I don't necessarily want to see the two characters together, but Howard the Duck and Cap occupy the same reality (not to mention Rocket or Groot). There are no limits to what might occur in Marvel's fantasy universe. The masses are broken in now, they have established the parameters of 616...it's time to unleash! lol What makes you so sure people would grow tired of comic accurate costumes done well? I think many of us, as fans, have internalized a great deal of studio-thinking. That's not really a bad thing, but we are well beyond the point of 'introduction' and I was very happy that Dr Strange pulled no punches. I don't mind tweaking source material, but many of these studio types lack the creative talent needed to re-imagine established concepts. Tim Burton? Sure. Some of these other guys? Not so much. I'm glad you mentioned the Sentinels. I liked the look of them, but feel a concept that resembled the source would have worked equally well. |

Apocalypse is gray not blue, thank you :p I didn't see the movie until after everyone had torn it apart but I thought it was decent. The main drag was that in addition to his unusual appearance Apocalypse only had a couple of scenes where he was actually intimidating. Mystique being forced into the hero role again was also bleh. |

Ben Kingsley was the Mandarin, Guy Pierce was Aldrich Killian...we all remember how that worked out. While Keaton could still be Tombs (and is likely to be) red herrings still and can exist in Hollywood provided they don't jump the shark and reveal all first chance they get. Considering how many trailers of Civil War that hit the Internet featuring scenes that Spider-Man was removed from, the only reason we ever even found out he was going to be in the film was because Marvel basically blew it's wad early and wanted to smoke out some of the BvS hype... Just fun to speculate...is all. |
