I hope there are more items to be shown at Toy Fair, or these do well enough for Lanard to keep going. I'd like to see a smaller scale articulated Kong at some point. |
There's a cheap, janky charm to this licensed line. Although I myself as an adult wouldn't buy these, if I had a kid who really wanted them I wouldn't mind buying if the prices are reasonable enough.
I wonder if Lanard simply bought molds of Hiddleston's and Jackson's heads from Hasbro and popped them onto their generic soldiers, lol. |
Well, that explains why the vehicles and buildings are so shoddily designed - the (Mighty) Monarch made them, and we know how terrible he is at everything without the supervision of Dr Girlfriend. :D

It will be $30, not $45. in a world where $20 gets you a basic 6" figure, this is to be expected. I was just at Walmart and saw they were doing a major reset of the toy aisles. There were no Kong toys out yet, but they had new pricetags spread on the shelves. I saw this one and took a snapshot:

Picked up the 18 inch Kong for $25 at Walmart. I had no idea it was an exclusive to them, but at that price I couldn't pass it up. It has a great sculpt, but the articulation does suck. I was surprised at how heavy it was. It's not hollow by any means. It feels heavier than the huge Godzilla that was out a few years back. I wanted to pick up the other figures too, they were $15 each.

Saw the Kong stuff at a Wal-Mart that completed their reset a few days ago.

Looks like Kong concentrated on forearm day and skipped biceps day!

At these prices, my son will love them! Our local ASDA (UK branch of Wal-Mart) will be stocking them soon as well. Probably go all in for this line.

I will have to go back to Walmart and see if they are on the shelves now, I want to judge that Kong in person. Interesting that people are finding them at lower prices than the tags I saw printed out at my Walmart, I will be interested to see if they are labeled with lower prices now, or at least ring up at a better price.

Shame they've gone the el cheapo route, what miserable toys...

I was hoping the accessories would work for GI Joes. Those figures are just awful.

Bought two sets, the one with the spider and the one with the two legged thing. Not gonna lie, for $10 a pop you get a lot. Sure the toys aren't the best quality, but they're not that bad either. The likenesses on the human figures are decent, they resemble Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston at least slightly. The monsters look fantastic, they've got surprisingly good sculpting and all the accessories are excellent. The spider figure manages to hold up better than the giant ant that came with the MU Ant-Man. Hell they even package it tightly, taking everything out took more than I thought it would. Biggest problems would be the paint apps on the humans not being great, but that's to be expected. They also really reused a lot of weapons and bodies for the humans, which is a bit disappointing. But overall these are definitely worth buying if you were on the fence for the monsters and vehicles alone.

I was traveling this week and stopped at several Walmarts, always looking in the toy aisle because unwanted to see the Kong figure in person. The Skull Island toys were not out at any of them, but almost every store had an empty area on the shelf with Kong tags put out.

I like that Kong just wish there was a smaller version too. Don't have the space for something that big.

Finally found some KONG stuff. Sam Jackson set and Kong were not there but I did get the spider and bat monster.

Interestingly enough, one of the CORPS Elite figures is based on his own likeness. |

Around then, we might see the 2-3 foot tall one from them. Until then, let the market enjoy whatever else for a bit. |
