Personally she shoulda been cast as tempo and had an appearance next to strife and the rest of the mlf. |

That's pretty unspeakably terrible and inappropriate

If you don't like the casting, then simply say you don't like the casting. Disparaging the actor for the kink of her hair or suggesting that she change her skin color crosses lines. Plus, I don't know what people are seeing, but she's a good looking woman IMO. She didn't make the decision to cast herself, nor is it likely that she twisted anyone's arm to rock a 'fro. I get that this is a considerable departure from canon Domino, but we've seen this so many times before in these movies. I'm not a fan of changes either, but at this point, I expect them. Actors are just people looking for work, the fault lies with the casting director; aim your vitriol at the appropriate target. Edit: Yeah...after the pic Dark shared...she's a dime! |
i think Zazie Beetz makes a great Domino, everything cant be exactly like the comics plus hollywood is known for changing things in superhero movies

i get hollylame changes crap for this forced diversity thing and some characters are kinor enough to be changed and not thought twice on but Domino is fairly well known and its a shame we cant see her in the look most people who will see the film and know the character will recignize her in. |

I understand what Nite was saying about the color...WHITE white..not caucasian white. And while the lady def is a looker, when i first glanced at that Domino, i thought it was some "not too great" cos-play. Then when i saw it was real i was like hmmm...not exactly what i'd expect..but its prob still a work in progress. So i get that. Now the other comment about "ugly afro"...smh...i NEVER know with that one because he will say some off the wall shit and think nothing of it later. I think he's just programmed that way unfortunately..lol My only thing is i wasn't clear if he was saying THAT afro was ugly, or using ULGY do describe afros....hmmm... Quote:
************************************************** *************************************** But yeah...FedEx says my Thor figs will be here tomrrow..so i'm happy about that... AND.... i think HASCON will reveal Luke Cage for Netflix....if they don't i will be very ...very...VERY disappointed.!!! |

Regarding Domino, I think she looks fantastic. I think has fans we sometimes forget that these are not the 616 versions of the characters that we love, but are instead condensed reflections. The characters on film can never be or have the experiences that their comic counterparts have had over decades of comic appearances. While she's not 100% comic accurate, I really like the direction they took for a film adaptation.

Additionally, my larger point was that hating on her is useless. It's the casting director and, more importantly, the director that decided on Domino's portrayal. Blast them... |

So of theres angst to be directed it IS at the cating crew and director for going this route with domios character look. If it changes great if not...wellllll..... |

So I took Blade's UPC to Target and scanned it in the machine. The DCPI is 087-06-8560. It's not on Brickseek yet, but that is their number.

Are we not allowed to be disappointed with them not doing accurate adaptations of characters on screen now? |
She seems too cutesy to play Domino and all I know about the character is how she looks and dresses. We'll see though.

I think being disappointed with not accurate adaptions at this point is a futile waste of time. Hollywood is never going to make 100% true to source material comic book movie, and expecting them to, is living up to the definition of insanity Quote:

All I have to say on the matter is that, in canon, there's no explanation given for her chalk-white skin tone - not connected to her mutation, or her status as a designed/engineered child, or anything. Which means it was an artistic choice that has no bearing on her actual character.
Which means that angle of argument is moot. |

Hopefully this is Domino at the beginning of the movie before she gets her skin bleached. |
