Foot Clan and Shredder too? Be still, my beating heart...

dukefett 05-23-2017 01:57 PM

So it'll probably both sets from last year in cartoon colors?

Now the Shredder is definitely an interesting thought. The question is, what kind of hoops am I going to have to jump through to get it, and the costs? I already have the NYCC exclusive Mirage Foot Clan set, so I'm pretty doubtful that they can top that.

The ones you have are bootlegs, but as long as you're good with that.

I'm aware of it. I had the original and the SDCC white set. I sold them off way back when (as well as my April) to pay off some bills, about a year or two after NECA cancelled the Shredder figure after showing him off. I picked these up shortly after my NYCC Foot Clan set arrived. Now that I had finally had the Shredder I always wanted...I wasn't gonna let him sit alone on the shelf.

Truthfully, I don't know if it's just looking on the other side of the fence, but I actually like my KO set better. They don't feel like they're gonna fall apart in my hands when I pose them like the original ones did, and for some reason, I like the cartoon bandana color scheme on these guys. =)

Someone on Twitter made a similar comment to yours and Randy's only response was that they were wrong. Guess we'll see once they do the full reveal.

I've been hoping Neca would re-do these in the classic colors. So glad I waited to buy TMNT for my shelves.

Bearjew 05-23-2017 06:55 PM

I have to be honest, I like these colors WAY more than the Figuarts or their video game variants

jpizzow 05-23-2017 07:13 PM

Please Playmates, let NECA do figures for all of the original series characters. And I mean ALL, even the side characters, in scale. And also, please let these be released at mass retail.

Do this and my faith in Playmates will be renewed for once in a long, long time.

graphyt 05-23-2017 09:14 PM

I think I'd prefer a brighter colorway on these molds, but I'm super excited for the set. Just hope I can get one this time.

Weapon X 05-24-2017 12:24 AM

I might pick these up if I can afford it. I'm trying to get into the Turtles. Always liked them growing up, but exposed to them enough to develop a deep fandom.

RamenRider 05-24-2017 12:30 AM

These at retail for 20 bucks a piece would be a dream come true. It's really sad that NECA isn't allowed to do it. It's nice to hear that they're trying to make this one easier to get but that's not my problem, it's that I can't justify paying the price necessary. I'm just a causal Turtles-fan.

As such I will wait. One day there have to be some good cartoon-inspired Turtles in stores.

Blackwolfninja 05-24-2017 04:11 PM

We all saw this coming, and I'm happy they're doing it :)

Just painting the foot and Shredder different wouldn't be enough of a change. They look so much different in the 80s cartoon and Mirage Comics. You can tell by the insert holding the foot soldiers that they are new sculpts. Look at the picture of the tray again. See how the foot soldiers' heads are barely above the shoulders? They had a longer (more oval) head in the toon than the comics or arcade game. The arm guards would have to be different too, amongst a few other things. Can't wait for the full reveal!

By the way, love the profile pic dude! "Turtle Power!"

Wait, did they announce the price anywhere? Honestly anything in the $80-100 range is pretty reasonable.

It may be, and that may end up being the price you pay if you live in the US. But I don't. The Dollar to Euro conversion is not as nice as it used to be, then there's shipping + the profit for the middlemen.

If NECA releases something at retail it's usually available for a reasonable price around here. Exclusives are a totally different story though, stuff gets expensive real fast. Markups for convention exclusives range from 50-100 bucks around here, usually the latter. And that's a price I'm not willing to pay.

Even with that markup it'd still be cheaper than SH FIGURARTS.

suchaname 05-29-2017 06:35 AM

Even if they sold these to the UK through the eBay store, the shipping and customs charges would be sky high...

There's so many variations on NECA 'stores' though... There's the NECA website, the NECA store, the NECA store on eBay, Alien Club, which will likely expand to other franchises... it's too bloody confusing. And even worse if you live outside the US!

And now I'm wondering if I'm gonna be hit for customs charges from Alien club

Neca has updated their banner on Twitter with a clear image of the new Turtles.

Yup. Not posting another teaser story though.

There must be more later for the "Biggest and Best SDCC exclusive they have ever done!"

I do wish that they had some variation in color. I think to be correct to the old turtles they should have SOME variation

This set is specifically meant to portray the Turtles as they appear in the cartoon instead of the toys or merchandise graphics so all four should be the same color. Only the toys and the 2003 cartoon gave them different skin colors.

SpasticPlastic 05-30-2017 12:23 PM

I'm not that big into TMNT, but I am definitely gonna try to get this set. Too good to pass up, and the price is half what I figured it would be.

Trivial Psychic 05-30-2017 12:47 PM

I don't know why, but I'm just not all that excited for this one. Maybe because there is already a bunch of options out there like this if you want 80's styled Turtles? Perhaps if this set had not come so close off of the heels of the CVG set or NYCC set from last year. Not sure why, but it's just not scratching any particular itch of mine.

They should fire the artist for the packaging too, cause that artwork sucks. Looks more like that hot garbage Cartoon Network passes off for animation these days than the 80's Turtles.
