these are interesting to say the least.

im gonna call that one figure EYEborg

good god who did the paint apps on cyborg, Robot Chicken???

TimothyR 06-09-2017 10:11 AM

I would love to know mattels explanation for why they don't bother learning and improving.

Chopper Face 06-09-2017 11:32 AM

I'm kind of interested in a 1/12 batmobile just to add a bit of wow factor to my very small DCEU collection but this one almost has too many features which should be selling points but instead just inform me that I'll be wasting a lot of money on stuff I don't care about. I don't need real smoke or a camera inside the cockpit because all I'm gonna do is sit this thing on a shelf. I definitely don't need that crummy excuse for a batman figure that comes with it either.

SpasticPlastic 06-09-2017 04:39 PM

Superman looks like Thunder from Big Trouble in Little China. Wasn't aware of the recast.https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...F2BF&FORM=VIRE

Enigma2K2 06-09-2017 05:59 PM

I miss when Mattel TRIED to compete with Marvel Legends.

Chili 06-10-2017 11:03 AM

These are plain awful. Definitely kids' toys, not collectors' action figures. But that's been going on for years. Now, that Batmobile does seem interesting.... Did Mezco really cancel theirs???

Jal Hordan 06-10-2017 11:13 AM

These look horrible and the articulation on quite a few of these figures looks questionable. Guess Mezco will be the line for me for the current and future movie figures for DC.

I gotta wonder when did aquaman go from king of Atlantis to a homless hawaiian dude? These toys are just a point or two of articulation above those basic ones. Man not even suicide squad levels of articulation. Paaaaaaathetic.

Snowflakian 06-10-2017 11:43 AM

Sculpts look really awesome. Hope these sell well enough that they expand the line and potential for movie 2's merchandising.

Maybe then we might get some 4'' figures in high detail and articulation since they've already done at least 2 rounds of 6'' versions of the characters by then.

After seeing Wonder Woman, I desperately want an official 1:18th scale version of her. Especially with how much material is available in 1:18th scale about World War I. It'd be really freaking cool to have a figure of her available for that.

Wonderful Toys 06-10-2017 12:56 PM

Mattel won't ever give Cavill's Superman an ab crunch at this rate.

Not sure why he'd need one. He's not Batman. He doesn't hunch over or sit menacingly on top of buildings. He stands tall.

Could maybe use a neck tilt though for flight poses!

Wonderful Toys 06-10-2017 01:23 PM

With most companies it isn't a matter of whether they need it or not, it's just a standard point of articulation. Mattel is lazy and use every excuse in the book to remain stuck in the past while literally everyone else passes them by.

Weapon X 06-10-2017 02:06 PM

With the exception of WW these look like dog poo.

Can't argue the "stuck in the past" part!
But for superman I could see why skipping it for him. Why mess up the sculpt if you don't need to. Cost cutting mixed with character needs priority for individualized sculpts.

They gotta find a way to sell you more figures per each sequel. But hey, what exactly is wrong with them? Maybe some constructive criticism could help. If it's phrased nicely.

Wonder Woman's I gotta admit looks boss though. That's so a bought on sight and I don't even collect that scale.

Keep in mind also that they are trying to balance these so that kids can play with them if the movie turns out to be a big hit with little ones. Wonder Woman already has proven itself to be, so that probably explains the stronger effort on her figure.

snake5289 06-10-2017 03:12 PM

I'll stick with the Suicide Squad Batfleck I've already got but I'll probably pick up that Aquaman.

You heard it here first, folks. BATMAN'S the only one worthy of full articulation.

Jeezus f***** christ.

Ab crunches aren't an absolute must for me. I'd probably be more willing to overlooked the dated articulation schemes if the figures looked better.

Another thing that I hate about Mattel's superhero figures is the generic cone-shaped cloth capes. I'd rather have the capes like NECA's Batman and Superman figures with the semi-circle shape to give them a more realistic look when they hang as opposed to being completely stiff and flat, and if you wanted to pose Batman with his cape open and hanging onto his arms or cloaked around him, you could.

^^ Keaton's still the best Batman as far as I'm concerned.
