I know the whole story between the two, but Swamp Thing is still the better character. Plus, Man-Thing only came out like 2 months sooner due to DC's publishing habits.

But I'm not even sure those can qualify as hairstyles. I prefer my Blade to be a vampire hunter, not a ghetto gansta rapper.

Although, I'll definitely take these heads over that horrifying bootlegged one.

I'm going to be so mad when Titania isn't in the Thor Ragnarok line.

Because they wanted people to buy the entire wave for the BAF. Completists will buy the next wave too because it will have the other half of the Netflix characters.

Just curious...what exactly is a vampire hunter's hairstyle? Long and flowing like Simon Belmont or Buffy? Straightened A line like Kate Beckonsale? Matted, metalhead, mess like the Frog Brothers?

All seem pretty impractical to me. Last thing you want is to give a vampire the opportunity to grab onto it and put you in a "bitch-grip" (as Power Rangers actor Austin St. John once called it.) That gives the vampire control of your head and neck in a hand to hand scuffle, and that's the last thing you want. Blade shaving his head the way he does seems like a pretty wise choice, especially for hunting vampires.

As for the choice of how he shaves his head...it's just like any fashion choice...it's whatever he likes. It also can be done as to intimidate or distract his prey. Many people will avoid or even feel intimidated by people with facial tattoos or radical haircuts, and distraction wise, if a vampire is busy staring at Eric's hair wondering what the hell they're looking at, that means they're attention is not on the fight. Chances are, if that's what they're paying attention to, they'll be eating a silver stake in short time...

Also...horrid head sculpt? I think it's pretty bad ass. I might just buy another for this upcoming figure to paint just so I don't have go pull apart any of my customs...

Personally, I prefer my Blade with a more boxy cut. You know, something that looks like actual hair instead of lightning bolts tattooed pretending to be hair. lol

I don't like that headsculpt you have on your custom because of the mouth. I just think he looks like he is constipated, so he is taking a really hard shit right there.

Phantomcrow 06-15-2017 10:18 AM

I gotta agree with Kain about the Unproduced Blade head. It was the open mouth with fangs showing that killed it for me. I like my Blade to be stoic and not looking like Dracula from the Van Helsing movie. That being said , I will have to paint the glasses on the new heads black. The red lenses look weird to me.

I just realized that the rumored Legends with bike accessories was there also. The rumors were for Ghost rider and Black Widow to be coming with bikes. I had forgotten the dio showed the Rider and bike right there!

Parademon1 06-15-2017 10:30 AM

WOW, that Bullseye looks awesome! Love the throwing knife effect hand. I'm repainting that yelling head with a mask on. Man Thing looks very cool but have never been a fan of the character. Looks like a great buck to use on a future Sasquatch figure. Just hope it's at least the same hgt as Groot who's 9' tall. Just Blade/Bullseye/Ares for me. Ha, now I bet those overpriced ebay Walmart exclusive BAF Ares wave will go down in asking price real quick!

True! Forgot about those two. I hope they both pan out. I'd love another shot at a comic Widow.

Those heads look to be direct translations from the Bart Sears' design for Blade. A look I liked, personally, despite preferring his Afro from the seventies. The hairstyle was adopted from the way Wesley Snipes' haircuts looked in the movies. It's no more "ghetto gangster rapper" than the SDCC Unworthy Odinson's long hair and unkempt beard represents a "biker-white nationalist-thug" STEREOTYPE...you know, the look popularized by shows like Sons of Anarchy. Your choice of descriptors says more about you than any poor design choice on the part of Hasbro.

Man-Thing and Blade have both been on some monster/supernatural teams which is probably Hasbro's way of justifying him being the BAF now instead of in a later magic/mystical wave.

While I'm glad Hasbro might finally be giving Ghost Rider a hell-cycle I also feel it's too late for me to care. I got the Ghost Rider when he came out in the Rhino wave and that was two years ago so I just had to get my own motorcycle for him (a Maisto Sons of Anarchy bike).

Yeah, I have like 5 different Maisto bikes for different legends. But I will probably still get them if Legends makes the sets.

I mentioned it in the Legends thread, but both Blade and Man-Thing also had their own comic runs under the Marvel Knights brand, which also just so happens to be the name for the wave, hence their appearances in the wave.

All of the other characters in the wave have also had either their own Marvel Knights runs (Blade, Man-Thing/Jessica Jones/Daredevil/Punisher) or were characters who played important parts in those titles (Bullseye/Elektra). They all fit in rather nicely, even if they are not directly related to one another.

Hey...I just realized this...but we just got another wave without a Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, or Iron Man in it. Now that is something to be excited about... =)

CoolToysOnly 06-15-2017 07:42 PM

I like all the Netflix figures, i know I'll be paying
$40 for each unless I buy the wave

Hasbro scalper legends:you can never find the good ones

EvilMonkeyPope 06-15-2017 08:43 PM

That Man-Thing could become a Man-Ape for the BP series.

I have no intersting in that Not-Thor figure, but you are right about him looking like a delinquent biker. Then again, they are all delinquent, so that is kind of a redundant statement.

Not sure what you mean about the other part, I just want my Blade to look like a man not a brat trying to be cool with the big boys. All we're missing his him having his underwear hanging out. lol

The "other part" is my opinion that your perceptions are heavily governed by stereotypes you apparently hold for African Americans. There is no connection between Blade and a "ghetto gangster rapper" other than your stilted world view. The coiffed head is, as I mentioned, a representation of Bart Sears' take on Wesley Snipes' Blade. The shaved head, with lightning bolt designs, is a more modern take on Blade that reflects both the Blade TV show and recent comic appearances. Neither head has anything to do with the ghetto, gangsters, or rap. That's a reflection of you and your thinking. Not the toy, nor the character.

With all that said, explaining this to you is a complete and utter waste of my time. Based on your doubling down with throwing out yet another stereotype of 'sagging pants,' I'd hazard to guess that you enjoy offending people's sensibilities via invoking race-based tropes. I half remember you saying something like that regarding bad jokes. I also seem to recall you saying something about being a teacher or working with young people in some capacity. As someone who has also taught children, I shudder to think that you might bring this sort of pollution into a classroom setting. If my memory is correct and you do teach, try to broaden your horizons a bit. Get out more often to see that people are more than just a collection of stereotypes and generalizations. Even if you don't teach, you could benefit from that suggestion. Good luck.

EvilMonkeyPope 06-16-2017 02:15 AM

With all the colorful unique costumes being a highlight of the Ragnarok trailer, the comic half of the line looking so homogeneous is disappointing.

Ravenxl7 06-16-2017 02:58 AM

I'm glad the rumored list for the Netflix wave was true. That Blade figure looks really good. Though I'll definitely be displaying it with the alternate headsculpt.

Punisher is kind of thempting, and I rather like the look of the Man Thing BaF, but the rest of the wave doesn't really interest me. Don't have any real ideas yet, but maybe I could use a couple of them for customs...

Neither the Thor or Odinson figures interest me. I'd much rather have the SDCC version of Odinson, and I have no interest in the JF Thor. That said, I do kinda want the Ares.

There's a difference between the real world and an internet persona.

BTW, if stereotypes weren't real, then they wouldn't be stereotypes. I am originally from Buffalo NY, so I have seen the stereotypes in full. Just like the notion that most thieves are black. It sounds horrible, but at the Best Buy I worked at, 7 out of every 10 thieves were black, 2 were Mexican, and 1 was white. I can't help it if reality is what created these stereotypes. That's not to say every black person is bad, as not every cracker is good. After all, most serial killers and that worthless sack of shit theater shooter were white, while some of the most educated men in the world are black.

Either way, I want my Blade to look like a super hero, not the lost cousin of 50 Cent.

The things you point out have more to do with social class, access to education, and development of job skills than they do race or creed. In rural parts of America, where people of color are largely absent, the anecdotal experiences you tout would flip, with poor whites representing the perpetrators of most crimes. However, I don't expect you to understand anything I'm saying because I suspect there is a significant difference in the ways in which you and I were raised. I have long suspected that what you've detailed in the last few posts is in fact who you are, but I do appreciate you confirming things for me without a shadow of doubt. Again, good luck...your mindstate and perspectives are those of a dying breed.

I have rarely heard such stupidity in one post. It is said that it is better to 've thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt, you sir have opened your mouth. While most of your negativity is ignored you are being overly ignorant in this thread. Just because you worked at Best Buy where most of your thieves were black does not mean most thieves are black. And "if stereotypes weren't real they wouldn't be stereptypes"? Did you read that before you posted It? You know the definition of stereotype? It is "A term used to define all people of a certain belief into a mostly negative category that may only reflect a selected few of the racial demographics.". It Has nothing to do with reality. Most black and Mexican thieves? WTF MAN?
TheBlueMarvel is right on point, you should let it go before you can sound even more ignorant if that is possible.

FlyingPanda 06-16-2017 10:42 AM

Yup... Whole Wave

Like another member said, I too might actually buy the whole wave for the first time. Punisher's face expression is a bit flat, but the rest are good to go. Blade and Bullseye look sweet.

Ravenxl7 06-16-2017 10:54 AM

Not to further devolve the topic, but I want to add my two cents. TheBlueMarvel and Bearjew, while I appreciate someone else challenging Dr Kain's BS for once, honestly? It's not worth the effort to try and debate him. He's not actually going to listen, and all you're going to do is turn this thread into one big fight. That said, if you still feel the need to debate him, maybe take it to pm's, and do so with facts...

ummm... do YOU know the definition of stereotype? I just looked it up, and what I found was this: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

Augustus_Cole 06-16-2017 11:02 AM

SweetMouth....is an asshole...and he's BEEN an asshole.
No need for eloquent vernacular, it's a COMPLETE waste of time on ignorance..

*EDIT* I literally shook my head as I re-read what he wrote.

*EDIT-2* I saved all of this because i know it will disappear....soon...

Dr Kain 06-16-2017 01:39 PM

lol You guys are great. Just let me say that. However, yes, in the interest of the topic and Raven's request, I will stop there. lol
