By spreading the cost of tooling over multiple releases, it allows them to invest in future tooling, especially for characters that have limited re-use options such as Goro and Shao Kahn.

i'll accept that explanation but would say...make one more in the meantime that gets multiple uses..like one of the other sprites that was used for several ninjas in another series..or one of the cyrax bots...there were a few of those, or one of the female bodies.

The Cyborg Ninjas and the female bodies appear to be some of their next targets after Goro. They have a lot of MK characters in the pipeline overall, it just depends on how far along they are with them.

Aside from the ridiculous release practices, that's the other reason I bailed on the line after Scorpion & Subzero. Between MK, Street Fighter V, Street Fighter Classics, Tekken, King of Fighters, and everything else I've forgotten, I just don't see them finishing the line, especially at one character a year. Rather not wait 50 years for them all. The only line of MK toys that did a good job of covering almost all the characters was the GI JOE Mortal Kombat line. All other lines released a few figures then cancelled.

That being said, if they Komplete the first game's roster, I might pick up those figures on ebay, assuming prices don't skyrocket too insanely.
The figures are good but the overuse of soft rubbery plastic disappointed me, honestly.

Not at all. I'm hoping their stuff goes on and on. A ton of characters I want from MK, Tekken and King of Fighters.

Augustus_Cole 06-15-2018 09:42 AM

YAZZZ i would LOVE a deep lineup from these properties......i mean these things have outdone Sota (as far a sculpts)..and who thought that was possible..

even at this price point i'll continue to buy new and original looking figs. Hell i just bought Alex and he ranks down at the bottom of SF figs i like...but he's a great addition to the line.

my lineup so far.

Ryu
Hot Ryu
Ken
M.Bison
Chun-Li
Akuma
Alex
Zangief
Noob Saibot
Heihachi

i kinda wanted Reptile but...ehhhhh....

Ventus 06-15-2018 10:51 AM

I understand that the same Models like the Ninja Repaints
are much more easier to use, BUT
why only the damn MK1??????

If they would create the same Model for Ninjas from
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for example, they could still repaint them,
but the Ninjas from later
Mortal Kombat Games were so much better!

I hate every Design from the First Mortal Kombat.
All Characters from MK2 and later Games had better Designs.
More Modern and realistic overall.

I do not care if the use the same Model all over again,
but then please Characters and Ninjas from MK 2-10

It is not about the Repaint i complain, but the Design.

If they would release every Ninja from MK3 Ultimate,
and do Repaints (With additional Heads like Reptile)
i would buy every one of them, but not from MK1.

Also, their Figures are in Prototype Phase far to long in my Opinion.
If the do not show anything new in July at SDCC i have my doubts that they will make much Money with Mortal Kombat
in the Future.

I mean, there will be a Day,
when every Collector owns every Ninja Repaint....
AND THAT is the Point when Storm C will stop making Money with MK,
unless they show something new.

In a simple Word: Storm C is forced to do other Characters, because at a certain Point
when everyone collected all Ninjas, Sales will Stop.

Sadly, that is the Fact why other Companies Failed with the Mortal Kombat Licences.
Because they never got past the Ninjas -
AND THEN COMPLAINED "Our Sales are not good enough, we have to cancel the Series"

Own stupid Mistake i would say, Everyone would scream "SHUT UP TAKE MY 150$"
If Storm C or another Company would show a Motaro Figure!
Pre Orders on this Figure or other Characters like Kabal would go like Crazy,
but Companies do not seem to realize this.

webz 06-15-2018 11:53 AM

That's the problem with fighter game toys. It's impossible to please everyone up front, and there is always someone who is a fan of Stryker or Kabal who is upset they weren't first tier releases. Without a doubt, Sub and Scorp are the "flagship" characters. Boon admits it. That makes sense they came first. Next in popularity is Raiden followed by Cyberninjas.
Wave 2 with cyberninjas, kitana, and baraka seems to be putting popular characters with baraka, who is only 2nd tier mediocre in popularity. Baraka will be the real test if we'll get the 3 tier characters.

We got quite a while until we get Johnny Cage, Sonya, or most of the new cast of MK3 or later games, such as Sheeva, Fujin, Tonya, etc.

I agree, though, that Motaro would be a HUGE (literally!) asset to flaunt. He'd appeal to MK fans as well as people who just love huge freaky toys.

Ventus 06-15-2018 03:11 PM

No what Angers me most is:

That Storm Collectibles is a good Company and the Figures are awesome,
i know that Sub Zero and Scorpion are the Flagships of the Genre.

Scorpion (and thus unmasked Hanzo Hasashi from MK10) is my Favorite.

But over the course of Games 1-10 Scorpion and Sub Zeros Outfit
changed SO MUCH. Both of them have like....5-6 Different Outfits.
No other Character had that many Outfits.

And from the most stupid ones they choose to do the MK1 Outfits.
These are classic, but not Badass at all.

I hope that Storm C wakes up and creates all other Versions also.

I do not want to hear a "Sorry Sales are bad, Line is cancelled" again,
before they tried some other Characters and Scorpion / Sub Zero Variants.

Maybe, but the Klassics will outsell any other version, due to nostalgia. I can’t remember where I was for mk3 or even remember which one is 6... but I can remember vividly being 14 when the first mk came out, and going into my usual arcade at the mall and being SHOCKED when the college kid mashing buttons as subzero suddenly pulled off Sonya’s head and spine. My parents found out about the game and I wasn’t allowed at any arcades. When it came out for the snes, I made do with that edition, until I was given a sega with mk. My parents didn’t know about the blood code! A, B, A, C, A, B, B

Later, when mk2 came out, my parents decided I was a lost soul beyond Christian redemption, so I was allowed to use my summer money for it.

So, my friend, THAT’S why the mk1 costumes are going to be the go-to... (but again, TECHNICALLY these are mk10 DLC costumes)

Deception, if we're not counting spin-offs/re-releases.

MK 6 is Deception, MK 7 is Armageddon.

For Scorpion
here is what i remember and found at Google concering the Outfits.

1. MK1
2. MK2: already little bit different
3. MK3 Ultimate + MK 4: same
4. MK5 Deadly Alliance: Knight Outfit (almost looks like Ninja Knight)
5. MK6 Deception: More Upgraded Knight Outfit
6. MK7 Armageddon: Same as MK6
7. MK8 VS DC: Completely New Outfit
8. MK9 Reboot: New Outfit
9. MK10 / X: New Outfit again
+ Hanzo Hasashi Human Outfit.

This is A LOT to Choose from, with every new MK his Outfit got an Upgrade.
Same for Sub Zero also i think. Other Characters also changed a little bit
with every new Game, BUT not as much as Scorpion and Zero always did.

I have no Problem with Companies doing Ninjas only, but they should wake
up and do at least 5 other Versions for their so called "Flagships"

I would say that Reptile changed far more than Scorpion or Sub-zero ever did once the games got past UMK3. Reptile went from human to humanoid to full on lizard man, (even sporting a tail at one point,) and then back to a lizard/humanoid hybrid.

I disagree though about making 5 versions of "flagship" characters. That is a quick way to put yourself out of business, because not all people are fans of those flagship characters (I'm not a fan of Scorpion or Sub-zero, but like many of the other ninjas, especially Reptile and Rain.) What SC is doing right now is a cheap and easy way to get multiple characters out, changing the accessories and colors where appropriate while capitalizing on the nostalgic value of the franchise. It also helps to guage interest down the line for other figures, and I full expect them to follow this pallate-swap trend in the future once they get around to some of the female "ninjas" like Mileena, Kitana, Jade, Tonya, and Scarlett, should they get that far.

Remember the failure of Capo Toys and their Street Fighter line? All they offered was Ryu in all of his different player colors in the beginning, and the fans killed the line before it ever got started with the backlash, as many fans were more interested in some of the other characters that were promised.

webz 06-16-2018 05:31 PM

Sorry bub, but the MK1/MK2 look will be the big seller here on out, for the aforementioned nostalgia. Sure, you'll get stuff based on whatever current game is on the market, just like the Mezco figures from a few years ago, but the REAL money is in pandering to the fan of the original game. It's kinda like Optimus Prime. You give people a keychain with optimus prime, and you tell them they can pick an optimus, and give them the choice of G1, Armada, or bayverse, and the VAST majority are going to buy G1. All the 30-40year olds will buy it for nostalgia, and the younger crowd will buy it for the same reason there are Rainbow Brite t-shirts at Hot Topic... 80's stuff is popular.

They really don't need to do 5 versions of a character. They need to do the original 10 characters ASAP (7 selectables, 2 bosses, 1 hidden), and MK2, since that is arguably the most popular MK ever (and why 9 and X tried so hard to emulate that game). That's where the money is. No money in Deception, Armageddon, Dead Alliances, Special Forces, or anything else. The cyberninjas have a fanbase, but I don't see a whole lot of online love for Kabal, Fujin, Molock, Stryker, Nitewolf, etc. Obviously they should do them for completion's sake, but since Storm Collectibles has their tendrils out in so many varied game lines, I'd prefer they focus on one MK game roster at a time, rather than a few from MK, a few from MK2, a few from MK3, which is what it looks like they are doing.

anyway, we can run around in circles on the topic ad nauseam, but I'd rather focus on the figure in the topic, and avoid perturbing the mods with relatively pointless wishlists and conjecture.

I am interested in seeing what all effects they add for Ermac. Obviously the soul force telekenesis and armpulls, but They seem to like to have a few. I feel Subzero was shorted with his ice blast. It really needed a seperate mk2 lump of shard-like ice attached to a display stand.

You are correct, i have forgot about Reptile and his Change of Evolution.

Of course they shall not Produce Ninjas over and over again, it was just an advice
to create Scorpion in another 1-2 Outfits, Hanzo Hasashi would be a must have.

At your example with Capo Toys just producing only Ryu; that is was what i wanted
so say all the time; Storm C will FAIL if they stick their beloved MALE Ninjas ONLY.

But as you said, i also hope for a Pallate Swap soon, as i also would like to own a Jade Figure.

My biggest fear here is again, that they will Stop / abort the entire Line,
before we got something else than the Male Ninjas.

They dived into Mortal Kombat 3 already, with showing Cyrax Prototype Figure.
So i beg that they continue with this, because i also LOVED Cyrax and Sektor back in the MK 3 Days.

And they rivalry was also something Special (As seen in MK9) Cyrax was the good one,
while Sektor was the Villain.

Anyway, Liu Kang with Dragon and Cyber Ninjas would be an Instant Pre order for me.

Storm Collectibles Fully Reveals The SDCC 2018 Exclusive Mortal Kombat Ermac Figure - The Toyark - News

https://news.toyark.com/wp-content/u...-Ermac-011.jpg

Bearjew 06-25-2018 08:22 AM

This kills me. I have not participated in these thus far just because of various reasons. However, I like the color. Red is my favorite color. Now here it is Red ninja. He also comes with ripped off arms. So...I am going to need something to put those on....Scorpion probably. Hopefully though this will be easy to get. We will see.

How do you get these Storm exclusives anyway? (I mean after SDCC and not for scalping prices) They should be available at retail somewhere, right? Like Hasbro does on their website, or NECA.

Wow, forget Scorpion. Maybe Reptile?

Marvelnerd 06-25-2018 09:57 AM

Damn, looking way better than I was expecting but it makes me wish they did something more unique with the Noob accessories from last year. I'll be grabbing him if he pops up on preorder online, I just hope I won't have to brave scalper prices. Hoping the next full release figure after Goro is Liu Kang or one of the Cyborgs, but I'll still be fine with Smoke or Rain.

From personal experience their past exclusives have popped up on at least BBTS costing a bit more than their standard Storm figure price (Noob cost about 80 bucks where as the normal Storm figure is about 55-60)

I think he was $60. I'm drawing a blank on what it was exactly but it was definitely between $55 and $65.

Joe Moore 08-01-2018 06:55 AM

Ermac was sold for $55 at SDCC.

I've heard if you give the SKU 174997 at Gamestop you can preorder Ermac for the same price it was at the con. Haven't had the time to hit up my Gamestop to try but people have been saying it works. In store only I believe

Augustus_Cole 08-01-2018 01:19 PM

@Bo....Nice shot/collection..!
if these things were priced like normal figures...i'd have them all too. I only have Noob and Kahn
Pricey damn hobby i tells ya..

@notoriouslyhigh..thnx...i'll give that a try...cause ebay prices are around 100 easy...
