Until we know the prices I can't really form a final opinion. As always I think exclusivity sucks but if the prices are fair then the situation could be acceptable. If the price per figure (including shipping) is anywhere over $30 then that'll just be ridiculous especially since these will probably all be accessory-light if they even come with anything.

That sounds to me like you do. And that is insane. Ignoring that it would be a middle finger to collectors, but it puts a MASSIVE limit on the number of casual buys the figures would get.

These figures will get more casual buys on this service then they would being sold at comic shops.

These aren't Multiverse or Marvel Legends they weren't going to be sold at retail outlets.

And they still be put up on Ebay after the fact.

BWfan86 06-28-2018 03:05 PM

Comic shops are not a fair comparison. The previous DCAU were widely available from mtiple online retailers

Captainkrabs 06-28-2018 03:12 PM

While I was thinking about getting on board with this, I just realized that being from France, I am just screwed and can't subscribe. Ridiculous.
eBay prices for those kind of things are always terrible.

Does anybody know anything of dc universe being offered in Europe or that these figures will be available on the European market?

Thanks in advance.

I was looking into subscribing from the UK and got this message "SORRY, THIS SERVICE IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US. WE'LL ANNOUNCE WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE IN YOUR REGION."

So looks like the non-US fans are gonna have to pay a mark-up to get these :-(

Bo Ttef 06-28-2018 06:51 PM

Hell yeah i'm in! If it gets me closer to a BTAS Scarecrow I'll sub a year in advance!

SpasticPlastic 06-28-2018 06:55 PM

So far they are only accepting entries to be part of the beta testing in August. They are limiting that to the US. I think once the whole thing goes live, it will be international. At least that's the idea I got from some of their replies across social media.

ToyAddict 06-28-2018 07:42 PM

Been a long time since I've seen the cartoon. . .were Wonder Woman's legs always that ridiculously long? I'm trying to Google it but can't find anything where they are standing actually side by side. In the intro, she's a little behind Supes, so the perspective is skewed. But the way they have the toys posed, her waist is above Supe's elbow, but she's still shorter than he is. All legs no torso. Looks weird.

digger318 06-28-2018 08:02 PM

exclusivity is never good, they could have sold it on the wb online store

ToyAddict 06-28-2018 08:03 PM

Oh, yeah, and it does say subscribers can get the merchandise "before the rest of the world." So, just early-bird access, the stuff should be available elsewhere eventually; LCS's I suppose.

Nintenderek 06-28-2018 08:07 PM

The DC streaming service actually does seem like a really good deal, even without these with a lot of good content. That being said, that isn't an excuse for this being a thing. This is honestly dirty business. Other streaming providers don't need something like this for their streaming services, why should DC when they can instead just deliver the content their fans want? Hell, their streaming service is already better than the CBS streaming service they were trying to get everyone to sign up for to watch Discovery.

OriginalFire 06-28-2018 08:09 PM

I have mixed feelings about this. Will the figures be cheaper is we subscribe. They don't even have enough shows that I like to justify this. I'll take the figures but not the streaming service, I guess. It kinda reminds me of when I had to buy U2 tickets a few yrs ago. I joined their fan club and paid extra money so I could get access to the presale. I got the tickets but I wish they would have just been kind to the fans and given it to you for subscribing to their website. I guess it left a bitter taste in my mouth. The figures might be cheaper for subscribers if it ever gets to that point.

EvilMonkeyPope 06-28-2018 10:10 PM

Aquaman better have an alternate hook hand!

Don't both Prime and Netflix make content exclusive for subscribers and in the case of Prime didn't they buy up a bunch of Anime licenses for their Anime Strike service which you had to buy separately from the core Prime service?

Black Arbor 06-29-2018 06:11 AM

Those designs do not translate well to super articulated figures... For everyone saying this is dirty business, it's really not. They haven't done anything illegal, nd while it sucks to buy something you don't want to get something you do want, companies have done that for ages (hell, even with Marvel Legends we have BAF's so that certain characters don't pegwarm)

Toonstrack 06-29-2018 07:10 AM

All these people talking about its shadiness, and here I already signed up so I can have my JL Wally West Flash and at least have a Hawkgirl on my shelf since no one else wants to make a figure of her. Guess Im a sucker but I was already gonna sign up for the DC Universe anyway.

Exclusive shows. They don't force you to subscribe to them to buys toys.

Think of it more like a company saying something like this, "You can buy our SDCC exclusives online if you don't attend SDCC, but first you need to buy a $50 ticket that lets you gain access to the website we are going to be selling them on."

Amazon has thousands of items available exclusively to Prime members. Blu-rays, toys, clothing, etc. Certain things, if you want to buy from Amazon, you need to be a Prime member.

Is that actually true? AFAIK, unless it is a specific service like prime video or prime now, any item you can purchase on prime is available to non-prime members- you are just on the hook for faster shipping

There have been a number of times when I've ordered something and the offer was exclusive to prime members, later it was available to everyone else but for that brief period it was exclusive to prime members.

I am a prime member, and while there have been times where I've gotten specific deals on products due to being a prime member, I can't think of a time where a product was exclusive to prime members only. You may have had to pay a bit more if you weren't a prime member, but the product itself was always still available to you to purchase.

You really can't compare having exclusive shows on a streaming service to having an exclusive physical product for a streaming service that you still have to buy separately.

As for the Amazon anime stuff, I didn't care much for that idea either since it was something you had to buy separately.

No they don't. The only thing they've done that to has been Disney movies and you can buy Disney movies anywhere you want. They aren't Amazon Prime Exclusive.

However, don't get me started on Amazon. They're getting way too big for their own good and thinks they are invincible to scrutiny. They just upped Prime's price to $120 a year which is already a rip off since $99 was a rip off.

Clockstomper 07-03-2018 08:33 PM

Anybody think John Stewart looks a little pin-headed? Might have to wait for the unlimited version, I always liked the goatee. It would have been nice to make these available at online retailers, and saved the inevitable Justice Lord repaints as the exclusives.

BWfan86 07-04-2018 08:55 AM

Agreed that GL ooks off. His body proportions look totally abnormal (head small, chest too wide, waist too small). Hopefully they fix before they are put up for sale

The standouts to me are the MM, WW, Flash, and Aquaman

Skoob 07-04-2018 07:48 PM

I'll pass on any exclusivity arrangement, and have zero interest in Prime, but if these 6" figures go mainstream and look reasonably good, I'll probably buy them all. They would have to look half good though, which means minimal articulation. I just want them for display, so they need to stand on their own.
