This looks awful.

snake5289 06-14-2019 04:18 PM

Has there been any talk from Storm about figures from the modern MK games? MK9 Scorpion is easily my favorite and I can't decide if I should go ahead and get this one or wait and hope they get to MK9.

Bearjew 06-14-2019 04:20 PM

The face mask really is too big. I wonder if a head swap is possible. I really think there is going to be a big difference in the body size of the new ninja and the old ones.

The skull mask thing with this one does not work. It looks goofy smiling. We needed more effects with this one too.

Now,I need a Scorpion and this guy will do that just fine I guess. I would almost wait for another Scorpion like the prototype we saw once upon a time. Last year I think.

I am ok with not getting the original Scorpion, I like the variety of the figures. I have three of the old ninjas and I will fill the Scorpion and Sub-zero slots with different character variations.

Do you own Noob? If not the bloody variant is available at BBTS for $70. It has all the original scorpion accessories which could be used with the new release.

McFarlane is; I'm guessing the licensing is different? Or maybe these are "high end" and they can both coexist.

Yeah it looks way off, I don't know what their idea was. The skull mask looks ridiculous. It should've been swappable heads and not just the mask.

I love how they couldn’t compensate me

but they were able to make a whole new version of scorpion, while i’m stick with my exclusive bloody version that came w a broken arm peg socket, infuriating if you ask me.

Yeah. My subzero arm socket popped just moving it to do the classic “hadoken” pose. I used 2 agent epoxy to fix it, and add strength to the joint. Plus... that ball joint ain’t loose and not going anywhere... minus... no flex to pop out the arm for fatalities.

McFarlane is making MK11 Scorpion, not 9.

buddyboy101 06-14-2019 10:08 PM

The alt portrait looks ridiculous. It looks nothing like the select screen image. If you want to see that done right, check out the PSC deluxe statue:

I'll only buy a redone version of Scorpion and Sub-Zero, that's it.

They should do female characters next after this.

I do own Noob. That is the reason I don't mind not having the first Scorpion release. I just hope the heads are interchangeable. Then I could use the skull and fire effect.

BWfan86 06-15-2019 08:50 AM

So... they skipped MK2?

Would like that or an Mk4 version

The original figure they did was MK2. It has the knee pads and shin guards from 2, it has the bands on the biceps like in 2, and it has the slotted mask. It does include the cloth mask as an option but everything else is MK2.

yeah duhhh on them.. they should have already released one..then they could run that one into the ground with different colors too.. but at least we'd have more options for figs to purchase.

Wait a sec...you guys are making it sound as if these figures have been cancelled. Don't tell me they have been? Or are you just complaining that the prototypes are sitting in limbo while Storm officially announces yet more ninjas?

I do not know about cancellations. I would hope not.

The complaint I have is that they have publicly shown prototypes of all these characters and then decide to release MK3 Scorpion ahead of those mentioned without a colored or uncolored prototype being shown until this announcement.

I know ninjas sell, but there are 5 characters from MK1 and more than double that for MK2 (the most popular of the games) they haven't produced figures for, so it's just a bit annoying even if it makes business sense to just produce recolors as much as possible.

darthschroeder 06-23-2019 02:29 AM

Like most everyone else, I'm sick of the MK ninja theme from Storm, but I'd totally pick up Rain and Ermac in their proper UMK3 costumes. Glad I skipped their first figures because I'm sure Storm will make them using this new UMK3 Scorpion sculpt, and hopefully they'll include the old accessories and/or newer, better ones.
Are Cyrax, Human Sub-Zero and Scorpion the only reveals from the MK3/UMK3/MKT era so far? Hoping to see Kabal at some point.

I'm not really sick of the ninjas just yet. Would I like to see other characters? Of course...but the ninjas print money and are far and away the most popular characters of the series.

Characters we haven't seen that I'd personally like to see are Quan Chi, Jax (MK2 or 3), Sheeva and a Shang Tsung myself. Kano would be nifty as well...especially if you include a bloody heart accessory.

As for other MK3/UMK/MKT figures that have been revealed...Sektor and Robot Smoke were also shown off. Lui Kang has also been displayed before as well, which could pass for either MK3 or MK2 since he wore the same exact outfit in both games, with only a change in appearance in hairstyle.

webz 06-23-2019 07:58 AM

Peeps, nothing has been cancelled. Toy making is an arduous task, especially if it requires licensor approval, which MK does.
Storm is notorious slow as it is, so I’m certain they are trying to get everything out as fast as their production schedule will allow it.

Besides, they are super quick compared to some others... Mondo teased He-Man 1/6 scale back in 2015, and its only now found its way onto shelves.
