Guess it depends on the level of excitement the community shows for Neca stuff.

I can tell you it has absolutely nothing to do with the excitement a community has. I live in San Diego, there's thousands of collector's here, and the Targets around here have almost zero NECA stuff. It's however they're doing the distribution. I thought I heard it was NECA contracted people directly going into stores and setting up the items. I've seen like one Godzilla and a few horror figure. It's not like they're empty spaces and price tags either, they're just now showing up.

My Targets haven't restocked anything but the new Godzilla in months. I' worried they're not even going to carry Laurie Strode.

Villano 06-24-2019 10:05 AM

What's the Neca situation like at local Gamestops? Back when Neca announced their deal with Gamestop, my local store had a nice selection (several Jasons, Freddys, Pennywise, Godzillas, etc.). After a short while, the store rearranged its set up (everything in the store was moved around), and it was down to one Pennywise. Now, it's been many months of nothing. I asked the guy at the counter if they were still going to carry Neca and he said, "Occasionally".

Bo Ttef 06-24-2019 10:32 AM

What's the Dolphin? That's a mighty nice accessory for my multiverse Lobo... Also digging the Shape of Water base- that would look great for almost any "captured" figures... Like buying the PaleMan for his chair- NECA always has the best accessories even if I have zero interest in the actual figure

Smasher 06-24-2019 10:46 AM

I don't mean to keep beating the same dead Kaiju, and I know Joe is just reporting what has been said in the video and elsewhere but NECA's logic about a King Ghidorah figure doesn't add up.

The released two versions of Otachi from the first Pacific Rim movie and each version was around $60 to $70. Their Pacific Rim line is in the 8 inch scale. They just absolutely can't make a King Ghidorah in a 6 inch scale for under $150?
The Otachi figure has somewhere around a 20 inch wingspan.
I don't think there's something "underhanded" going on, but I just can't reconcile their concerns about this figure based on what they've done in the past, and what they are doing right now.
Their current Kaiju are an improvement over their past offerings and the price hasn't gone up.
The 62 Godzilla is spot on to what you see in King Kong vs Godzilla, has a fantastic box, and has the best tail of any NECA Godzilla figure to date at the same price as their previous offerings. But if it's King Ghidorah then there is no way they can do any of that magic?
I was hoping they would show some of the other Godzilla figures that are coming out from them.
Is it in one of the videos and I missed it?

The difference is that those had full retail support from Toys R Us. They were in a major mass retail space, as well as places like FYE (who had a bigger presence then). Cost for materials was cheaper as well. And cost has absolutely gone up. When NECA Godzilla's were first hitting they coming in at $17.99. Even before the packaging switch over, they were hitting a MSRP of $23.99.

People seem to forget that Toys R Us gave toy companies a ton of shelf space if they wanted it. Huge figures, play sets, etc. If a company wanted to do it, they would carry it, even if no other retailer wanted to.

dukefett 06-24-2019 11:41 AM

Frankly I'm just glad NECA has been able to stay above water with losing TRU.

En Sabah Nerd 06-24-2019 11:42 AM

I'm too lazy right now to see if it's been answered, but with 2019 Ghidorah off the table couldn't they still give us a previous version?

What happened to non-Legendary Godzilla figures anyways?

At first people told me they could make past versions of every monster which appeared in the newer films, then I heard they can basically make everything they want now, but I assume neither is the case.

Well we did kind of just get the 1962 GvK figure and the American poster version of the '54. We're seeing a lot of the Legendary designs right now because they're striking while the iron's hot.

I guess that's the part that I can't wrap my head around. I don't really remember TRU as a retailer that was generous with shelf space and would carry items no one else would.
I remember them as a retailer that was over priced and often under stocked. In my area the NECA products were perhaps the best example of that. The NECA display was almost always empty pegs.
I bought all of my Pacific Rim stuff online because I never saw most of it on a shelf at TRU. I would say that during the entire run of the Pacific Rim line TRU only ever had about 40% of it on shelves in my area -and I was on the hunt back then.

The same thing with their Godzilla line. They would get some items on the shelves weeks or months after I got the same assortment from BBTS.
And then TRU would never restock. They had two Burning Godzilla figures and two Shin Godzilla figures on the pegs one day and once they were gone they never came back.

This is what I want to know, too.
I heard that announcement, drooled over the 62 Godzilla -then nothing.
I imagine it will take at least 6 months to get anything out to retail after they announce it, so if nothing has been announced now there will be nothing before Christmas.

They said those would be taking a backseat for the new movie stuff since movie stuff comes first. Hopefully they'll show us something new at SDCC (maybe a Kong 62) before they dive into the Kong vs Godzilla line.

Hey Joe, any word if neca is planning ultimate predators from aliens vs. predator? Or if Aliens wave 10,the first Kenner wave could ever see re-release? Even some of the marines are commanding high prices, now with Jason and Freddy out for a bit, seems like a good time to make use of older molds.

The announcement of the large scale alien rhino has me interested. But with wave 10 so high in price it makes me less likely to collect the Kenner stuff. I’m not interested in the knock-offs.

Thanks for any info.

cambo 06-24-2019 08:53 PM

hey joe or anyone who attended...was there any talk by randy or anyone on what the situation is with the Friday the 13th licence? was hoping someone would bring it up on what the future looks like. thanks

I'm disappointed will these TMNT designs. I have most of the NECA TMNT stuff so far and I like them. The proposed Dimension X designs in 2017 were awwwesome.

But this? They look half assed. Why do they look shoddy?
I can't figure it out. It's like an amateur fig custom on etsy.

Is that Slash? What is it?????? Couldn't be slash right? If it is......I can't even critique it if I can't figure it out.

I think the Leatherhead may have undergone some improvements, but it still looks like its pretending to be NECA quality.

Here's the thing, NECA will probably figure everything out and make it all better before release. They seem like the kind of dudes that don't give an F when showing off a 1st or 2nd prototype of a figure. When an event comes, if it's not quite ready, who cares, show it because the event is now. People then respond with likes and dislikes. They make mods. Poof, super cool figure by launch.
I respect that.

But if they don't improve it....balls. Only a few people commented on the designs or desire to own them. That's a sign.

Which Aliens vs Predator? I know people have asked about the first AVP movie getting ultimates and Randy has said no since each figure they did came with about as much as possible.

Can't see how they can make the AVP predators any better other than pack them with more stuff. Besides they're still easy enough to get at the original retail price. Wolf on the other hand... His release is over a decade old and kinda crappy. The ultimate has been in the works for some time now. Guessing 2020 release.

Randy has already commented that the AvP Predators won't be getting Ultimate releases. there's nothing new to add to those figures in their mind.

I doubt we'll see any straight Kenner re-releases. Movie stuff, sure I can see that coming back here and there.

The Slash figure shown off is how he appeared in the 80’s cartoon. I was never fond of how he looked in the cartoon compared to other iterations of him with crazy sharp teeth and a black bandana, but in terms of his cartoon appearance NECA is basically spot on.

The one shown back at SDCC 2017 is how he looked in the video game hence the subtle pixelated paint job on that figure, plus the Leatherhead shown then too.

As for what was shown off at the fan event, those figures actually look close to production the only difference is that they are less vibrant than their arcade counterparts, as they should be.

They basically have one guy working mostly on TMNT cartoon stuff right now. It sounds like everything from the cartoon is open game, and they have a lot in the works. But they have to keep them as 2-packs for Target, while the game stuff soundsl iek they're always be con exclusives, and the movie stuff a mix of con sets and GameStop releases.

Yeah, I Remember hearing a while back that Trevor Zammit left, but I’m glad they got him back. The arcade TMNT stuff I can pass on, but even as a casual TMNT fan I’ll gladly welcome the cartoon and movie figures they churn out.

I know it would probably never happen, but I would love to get figures from the ‘Next Mutation’ if only to get a Venus De Milo figure. Say what you want about the show, but I thought the costume and stunt work were awesome and having a version of the one and only female turtle would be kind of cool.

I saw one of the posts they said after the Jason figures already in production are released they will have to put the Friday the 13th line on hold with the legal situation. But they then said similar situation with A Nightmare on Elm Street. This one I didn't know about, any one know what the deal with ANoES is?

No company has shared info on what is really going on. But New Line has been forcing companies to put production on hold. NECA and Mego both affected so far, and Randy said it sounded like all collectibles from everyone will be on hold at a certain point.

poeghostal 06-25-2019 09:00 AM

Looking at that Max sculpt (the dog from Ace Ventura), it's pretty clear the next figure will come with a photo of Ray Finkle.

Personally I'm hoping for an Ace from the second film, with a white bat in a cage, darts, and his mentor's Medallion of Spiritual Oneness.

Do we know if there are any other Jasons in production or are the remake, Freddy vs, and Roy the final figures?
