Looks that way. But after tax and shipping the Mattel classics were $40 for me. So if you buy from bbts for flat $4 shipping on everything or entertainment earth for free shipping and I’m sure other options....it’s really only $ 5 increase. That’s how I justify it. Lol.

Vamp 08-17-2019 07:46 PM

Damn, spring 2020 is so far away. i think pre orders should be 2 months tops.
Ill most likely end up paying $100.00 on ebay in April when it comes out.

webz 08-17-2019 08:16 PM

I really want to see the origins line in person before buying... it looks tempting the more I see of it.

En Sabah Nerd 08-17-2019 09:52 PM

Conan being based on Schwarzenegger but having a he-man body just looks weird. The head and the clothing are all nicely done and then it just abruptly switches to this exaggerated cartoon body. For the price I would expect way more, especially from the articulation.

OriginalFire 08-17-2019 10:22 PM

The Trap Jaw looks pretty cool. It looks like they are totally redoing the 80s toy line. Its good and bad. In the interview with Pixel Dan on his channel Brian Flynn mentions politics or alludes to it and perhaps that could be a reason why the prices have gone up. I think in the USA the government is going to be placing tariffs on stuff coming from China. I think it starts September 1st.

metalalchemist 08-17-2019 10:44 PM

Anyone knows if the minis are the slightly bigger size they released as an sdcc exclusive some years ago or are they the smaller ones released later?

I know what it is; I want to know how it works.

And PixelDan's interview didn’t clear that up unfortunately. I like the look of these figures but I won't pay the 60-70€ necessary if I have to cut the accessories of a sprue. That's just not happening.

Ideally it should be a simple weapons rack where you can store the weapons you don’t need, but that's not a weapons rack on display, that's a plastic sprue.

EDIT: But worth mentioning, there's a Thulsa Doom in the first Conan wave, they just can’t show it yet.

lordbest 08-18-2019 01:42 AM

Any mention of a Conan Valeria? Because I'm not going to invest in a(n expensive) line if I have to wait until a hypothetical second wave to get a female lead character when they can find the time to produce generic male guard characters.

There might not be a second wave; from the interview it sounds like the schedule moving forward from Super7 is a 3-month cycle of Thundercats, Turtles, one-offs, repeat.

Since Conan is in the "one-off" category, it might not get a second wave. If it proves popular enough they could do that, but there aren’t any more waves planned like with Thundercats or Turtles to my understanding.

Personally I won't bother with the guards; I only get Conan and Doom, the latter heavily depending on the headsculpt. If they make more then great, if not then I'm not mad only having Conan and his nemesis.

lordbest 08-18-2019 01:52 AM

In that case I'll pass Edit: Removed potentially unfair criticism

darthschroeder 08-18-2019 01:54 AM

Had I known these heavily articulated MOTU figures were coming out, I'd have skipped the MOTUC series entirely. Don't get me wrong, I love MOTUC, but I love vintage MOTU much more.
I always wanted the vintage figures to have more articulation and be more poseable, and now they are, plus their accessories are top notch. These figures are how I wanted He-Man and crew to be when I was a kid, and what I wished MOTUC was like when they debuted.

I'm heavily considering selling my entire MOTUC collection then start over collecting this Origins series. Sadly and regrettably I got rid of my childhood MOTU figures (except my OG He-Man) because I hadn't touched them in about two decades and they were just taking up valuable storage space. Kicking myself for doing that because these new figures would fit in perfectly with my old stuff and I could put the old and new ones together on a shelf.
I'm conflicted though, because even if I get the vintage figures I had as a kid, they wouldn't be MY MOTU figures, ya know?

My ideal wave would’ve been Conan, Subotai, Valeria and Thulsa Doom so I feel you. However, certain characters not being made might not be a proactive decision on Super7' part.

They can't even show Thulsa Doom yet due to licensing issues, which makes me wonder if Valeria, Subotai and others just weren't possible to begin with. It still sucks not getting key characters though.

lordbest 08-18-2019 02:08 AM

That's true, it might be a likeness thing rather than their choice. Doesn't make it any less disappointing. The guard figure is Thorgrim from the '82 film which is marginally better than a no-name guard at least.

captainN 08-18-2019 03:18 AM

He-Man needs a cartoon come back.

Old school TMNT figures with modern articulation. Has there ever been a better time to be a collector?

edit - damn, but now I'm reading that these are 7" scale. Not too sure about that. I could see a bump up to 5", but 7" is a bit much.

deecee4 08-18-2019 07:23 AM

Surprised to see that people aren't into the Rexor & Thorgrim figures. Thulsa Doom raiding Conan's village is arguably the best part in the movie. And those 3 looked badass as fuck in that scene. The likeness on the head sculpts are really good too.
Conan's body does look a little too exaggerated for his head...specifically his shoulders look ridiculously huge. I wonder if they'll go deep with the Destroyer movie...it'd be kind of cool to get a Grace Jones figure lol.

For what it’s worth, the Turtles themselves appear to be smaller to scale with the human-sized characters in the line.

Gonna get both NECA and Super7 for TMNT. I'm gonna enjoy this

They do play perfectly with vintage figures. I own a ton of MOTUC, but my SDCC MOTU Origins figure is my favorite MOTU figure I own. So this is like a dream line for me. And the fact that it "plays" with the vintage stuff is a fun bonus. I have a feeling Mattel is going to start cranking out new playsets and stuff too.

Same size as the smaller ones released later.

Again, these are supposed to retail for $5, which makes them pretty darn affordable even at a blind box level.

ShabbyBlue 08-18-2019 02:15 PM

I really hope Thulsa Doom gets approved for release, and I hope we get a 2nd Conan movie wave too. We need Valeria, Subotai, Conan from the first film (not the Destroyer costume they oddly chose for wave 1) and Mako's wizard character. Sadly they probably won't go all out with multiple waves, but if they did I'd want to get the Pit Fighter and black/white war paint versions of Conan too, along with a deluxe old King Conan with his throne. Bridgette Nielsen's Red Sonja figure would be awesome too, but I think that falls under difference licensing than the 2 Conan films.

The TMNT line blows me away. It's smart of them to space out the release of the 4 turtles too in between the other villains and side characters. I hope we get Casey Jones in wave 2.

dukefett 08-18-2019 02:48 PM

I'll probably pick up Baxter and maybe Splinter, but not going to get the Super7 Turtles. It's a fun idea to re-do the toys, but just not what I'm looking for. I already have a movie set and cartoon set. I don't wanna have 3x everyone.

Vamp 08-18-2019 02:54 PM

Hopefully S7 does a Casey jones cause the one from Neca is kinda meh.

Comedian 08-18-2019 03:34 PM

So this could be interesting.

What does Kevin Smith know about He-Man? This franchise needs some new characters and I hope we can get them.
