Scorpion does seem fine, and Storm has recently posted they've improved their figures, so hopefully nothing will happen with future purchases.

Didn't know there were any serious quality issues with Storm's MK line. I only own Smoke but I've been really impressed with him. I rarely spend more than $20 for an action figure but Smoke was well worth going over my budget to acquire.

I like these skeleton warriors. If they only didn't have the smiling faces, I'd be willing to pick up a set.

It looks like it's been released overseas, I saw pics from Storm. They're also going to release a variant for SDCC according to their teases.

Gillius is up for PO on BBTS...

Wondercon skelly PO's were already sold-out when I checked.

Would love to see what they've done with the variant.

Just saw the Death Adder variants. Naturally, I want to foolishly squander money on them, but are they going to be released strictly as limited additions or will they be made more widely available to various other vendors outside of Hong Kong?

BBTS has one of the variant Death Adders. I decided to skip him, as I just wanted to stick with Arcade versions of characters.

But now I can't remember, were the pink skeletons in the arcade version?

Just placed the pre-order. Now to find Death Bringer.

I don't think so regarding pink skeletons in arcade version but you can always go on yt and watch a golden axe arcade version play through just to be sure.

ludovicotek 01-25-2022 12:32 PM

For anyone who missed him originally, Storm is releasing Axe Battler again. In addition to the red dragon, the set also comes with two skeleton soldiers. Available for pre-order now at BBTS.

EDIT: Death Bringer is also now available for pre-order on BBTS. He was originally available directly from Storm's site.

dukefett 01-25-2022 01:16 PM

Great news for those who have missed out!

Golden Axe - Ax Battler with Red Dragon and Skeleton Soldiers Set by Storm Collectibles - The Toyark - News

I don't need or can afford the dragon never mind the skeletons. Could they just release Ax by himself? lol I was a big Golden Axe fan back in the day but I haven't the funds for such figures.

I'm gonna have to just settle with try customising my own from a He-Man or Conan figure aye? lol

Cyclopswc 01-26-2022 08:31 AM

Or just the main 3 characters in a boxed set? Perhaps in different color? The ride-ons just unnecessarily add to the cost.

ludovicotek 01-26-2022 08:50 AM

Can't argue with the above comments. The beasts, as awesome as they are, add significantly to the price. The main characters are the real draw here. But it seems the line has been performing well with this approach.

kantboy2 01-26-2022 10:25 AM

I wouldn't be surprised if the GA skeletons end up being Storm's best-selling item ever overall.

OriginalFire 01-26-2022 10:56 AM

What makes the BBTS set so special

dukefett 01-26-2022 11:27 AM

I guess the price is a bit higher but I'm honestly surprised at those just wanting Ax Battler, the dragon is just awesome.

If you want Ax, I guarantee you'll find people parting out this set because they only want the dragon, or only want the skeletons, and you could easily sell the dragon and skeletons if you buy this yourself. You might even make money and get a "free" Ax by doing that.

I have to imagine they're there already lol.

Generally this may be the first straight reissue for Storm, ie same mold and same exact paint scheme, that they've ever done since the first Sub-Zero/Scorpion where they did a second run of those. The skeleton's paint job is exclusive to this set as well.

If you got a ton of spare money to invest all in one go with the hope you'll make most, if not all of it back aye perhaps. The first release was already too expensive for me without the skeletons and I have ebay searches set up for anyone who was willing to sell Ax on his own but nothing's ever come up. I'm in the UK here where these sets ain't all that common to begin with. I'm not a massive figure collector like some of you. Can't afford to be and like I said our selection over here is a lot more limited than those of you fine fellows in the States. So aye I'm a cherry picker. And I don't need the dragons or enemies. I really just want Ax but if I can get Tyris and Gilius too that's also swell lol.

AceSimulacrum 01-27-2022 01:51 PM

Always felt that Ax didnt sell as well, was hoping for a black haired version. Said in a previous thread was smart to pair him with the better dragon (in-game). But yeah those skeltons are great and they've so many different versions that still sell-out. But yeah, I know a few people that missed out and wanted to complete the trio. Think someone, dont think Storm would, should make a diorama set with magic effects.

80sforged 06-30-2022 01:34 PM

Gilius hit my PoL. The last of my active Golden Axe PO's. Noticed BTTS also got in some more Death Adders too.

PO'd two sets. Two should be enough. Can recreate some of those more mid-range 1st. level encounters.
