He is 7 and 1/8th inches tall to very tip of hair. No leg spread. Will dip a bit with leg spread.

Most of them have a floating crotch so to speak, rubbery and flexible with the torso and leg connectors underneath it. You can flush it with work but it moves around as you pose. It's actually well done on most, but the style itself leads to misalignment without focus.

The official pictures didn't impress but after this gallery it looks like a solid Superman for $20.

Batman also looks better from these in-hand pics but his neck still looks too long. Eh, I've got plenty of Batman as is.

I am rarely happy with a Superman by any company. None have taken it's place as "THEE ONE" for me yet, including these. NECA's was close, but all of them have a super stylized face and diesel necks that throw it off for me. Faithful to the art, but not for an all purpose character rep on the shelves.

If the chest/shoulders/head ratio were a bit tighter on this one, and had double elbows, it would be up there.

I stayed quiet because I wanted to get them in hand first. Product pics can be deceiving, sometimes good, sometimes not good. I dunno if what I did was that much different, but I tried to highlight what I thought was important, and how they felt in hand.

I really like the look of The Batman Who Laughed. I’ll gladly grab that when I see it in stores. The Armored figures also turned out really nice. Good write up to go with the stellar (as usual) photos.

themadbubbler 01-10-2020 07:57 PM

Nightwing's arms are too short... I'll say it again.

ronriii 01-10-2020 08:16 PM

I was there'd be more dynamic fighting/martial arts photos for Batman Who Laughs since he's still technically Batman under there (even if Jokerized). Can he pull a fairly deep/low fighting stance?

OriginalFire 01-10-2020 08:27 PM

These do look way way better in hand, except for animated Superman.

I have it a little easier there since for me Christopher Reeve IS Superman and NECA already did a good figure of that, so when it comes to comic-based figures I tend to get more chill and forgiving.

Colossus Prime 01-10-2020 09:05 PM

I say this just as an observation, not a "This thing looks bad, so all of this looks bad":

Nightwing's calves bow backwards a weird amount.

Hi Tony & Joe! I was wondering if you had thought about starting a Toyark discord channel? It might take away some traffic from the site, but being able to chat in real time with other collectors is nice.....

Have no fear... the Mafex Hush Superman is coming out this summer.

The good thing about the figures all being pretty close in height is that the big bulky armored characters aren't even taller than the already tall normal figures, so something like Hellbat Batman or Superman Unchained will be easier to fudge into a 6 inch collection. I'll probably be getting Hellbat Batman to go with my Mezco Batman collection, especially when I eventually do the big Batcave diorama I'm planning.

DarkEyes 01-11-2020 02:14 AM

Great pics! figures look stunning! Even better than official pics.

Like they are the same height, I was afraid they weren't, just like the old days. My particular concern with other modern DC lines is that they are very small and weak, just 6 in or less, and several characters are even smaller in order to try to manage differences in height.

Damn, had a long time looking for a proper Nightwing. Todd was able to handle different styles in the line. Can't wait to getting the entire line and to build a McFDC collection.

Just few weeks to getting the entire line!

warmachine6 01-11-2020 02:40 AM

yeah i wish this line was smaller maybe in the 6inch scale it would be nice to stick these next to over DC figures

Dolemite 01-11-2020 05:39 AM

Does The Batman That Laughs have torso articulation?

you can have them next to other dc figures. https://scontent-dfw5-1.xx.fbcdn.net...40&oe=5EAB57CA ignore the star wars in the process of moving to their display area.

warmachine6 01-11-2020 09:07 AM

Do you have any mafex ? Tempted to get nightwing...

The sculpts look real good for the most part, but I hate that these are 7", making them incompatible with Mattel's DCUC or Marvel Legends. The scale thing really killed my interest in collecting any of these, along with the absurdly narrow minded focus of only Batman and Superman and friends in wave 1 instead of a wider variety of characters. Wave 2 will really be telling -- hopefully it doesn't contain even more Superman and Batman variants in slots that should have been used for OTHER characters. If they can branch away from those two themes once in awhile, I might regain some interest. I really want some loving attention given to Flash and his rogues and other heroes/villains/teams too, but I just don't trust McFarlane to delve too deep into any characters outside of A-listers, and I don't trust the longevity of this line period. McFarlane is nearly as bad as DST when it comes to short lived figure lines. For example, the likely end of their Star Trek and Harry Potter lines after only 1 to 2 waves of figures. :(

My Top 10 WTF thoughts

Can anyone tell me why it says I am posting links when I wasn't? What are the "spammy" words?

Macas 01-11-2020 01:08 PM

Nonetheless here is my top 10 list
1. Is it just me or are the hands off? I just don't like them. They look like attachments instead of hands and the uniting peg gap is too big. Eww

2. 7" WTF? So we toss out our DCUC and Mattel MV?

My top 10 WTF thoughts Part 3

3. (12) - figures in a wave? No Build A Figure? That is going to bug a ton of people. These things are never going to move off the shelves, especially a 12 figure wave. That's especially true if they plan on releasing these in big retailers. As someone in the industry, these are going to fail at the mass production level.

Yeah, I wonder what the case assortments are like with so many figures per wave. That suggests many of these figures would be short packed just 1 per case, making it hard to find the ones in big demand. I guess it's a good thing you can preorder these on BBTS and EE.

I was hoping for at least 1 or 2 more waves of GOT figures... but not looking good.
