Probably worth noting that the MK11 spawn sold out while the color tops Spawn is still easy to find retail at a relatively low price. That alone should show Todd that articulation is a must.

Classic McFarlane. If he complains about the sculpt breaking up due to the articulation, then he should just do semi-statues instead like that Color Tops Spawn that's still stinking up some retail stores.

I'm just curious, where are you still finding the Color Tops Spawn? I ask because I only ever see them at TRU and at my stores they moved pretty well, the exclusive version was gone within a week. I'm not saying I doubt your claims I'm just trying to form a more complete picture.

In my case since I live outside the US, the hobby shops where I frequently visit and buy still display their Color Tops Spawn figures years after it was first released. The only McFarlane toys that are being sold and restocked in TRU are from Fortnite.

Okay. None of my local comic/hobby shops got more than one or two Color Top figures (except for Walking Dead ones) and eventually they disappeared because of things like holiday sales. Like I said TRU was the only store in my area that really stocked them and since TRU went under two years ago it's not possible for me to comment on whether or not the Color Tops would be shelf-warming today, although in my heart I know the Walking Dead ones would still be there coated in dust.

Looking forward to seeing what the kickstarter will look like tomorrow.

Digging that cape articulation lmao...

Honestly looks as statuesque as any Todd jonks from the past 2 decades.

The cape looks more articulated than the figure.

The figure is the same proto they had on display at Toy Fair. Articulation hasn't been added yet. If it's more than double the original figure, as the notes say, then it should be over 14 points of articulation.

deecee4 04-08-2020 10:48 AM

Im a little bit confused...this is the figure that backers will be getting? Or are they planning keying in articulation on this figure? And if so, why wouldn't they show that for their campaign, even if it's just a CG render.

TheMandalorian 04-08-2020 10:48 AM

Looks good... I just question why he needs a kick-starter? for a property he has owned since the 90's.. haha!

RamenRider 04-08-2020 10:57 AM

Why even bother if you can't even show a basic prototype of what people will be getting - instead it’s the same stupid statue again. Facepalm.

Dmar1994 04-08-2020 10:59 AM

Interesting to see and finally some confirmation. I think he'll use the same articulation scheme as the MK 11 figure. I do hope he includes alternative hands too if he's gonna include extra weapons and head portraits for this. I'm more classic Spawn so this definitely hits a soft spot for me.

To him, articulation is likely the least important aspect of this release. Those around him have know that's what people want to see. He should add an articulation breakdown, and it may even be there once the kickstarter goes live. But, in his eyes, he showed the figure, the accessories, the new heads, and the packaging. And that will be enough to fully fund this, probably within the first couple days.

You're absolutely right. But man is that awful. If you want to sell a product, show the actual product. If it's not done, use renders. There's literally a couple dozen acclaimed actionfigure Kickstarters that did this.

littlewolvie 04-08-2020 11:19 AM

The problem with these Kiçkstarters is that they are usually not very internationally minded. Sure, you can participate and you'll eventually get your figure(s), but they usually have no clue that shipping and especially import taxes (administrative charges + duty fees) will easily set you back another 80-90 bucks.

If you can even pay. Kickstarter still only allows credit cards as payment options; no one I know actually owns one because they are pretty much useless around here.

Every single Kickstarter I wanted to back I had to beg the people behind them to somehow get a PayPal-option up and running. Sometimes it works, most times not.

To be fair though, import fees are not their problem and there’s not much they can do about that. And shipping towards more remote places is naturally more expensive. As someone who imports regularly, I've come to accept all of this.

Alucard1138 04-08-2020 01:00 PM

It's live, I just backed it. Already at 20k with 130 backers.

Joe Moore 04-08-2020 01:09 PM

Updated with more pics, including a video capture showing the articulation.

TheMandalorian 04-08-2020 01:14 PM

And it already hit it's Goal! HA!

Gregory 04-08-2020 01:15 PM

$29 USD shipping to Canada makes this a pass for me.

EvilMonkeyPope 04-08-2020 01:23 PM

I'm annoyed the regular version doesn't include the board with a nail or the unmasked head.

Robogeek28 04-08-2020 01:26 PM

Not Modern Spawn makes me want the MK one even more now...

Wow I wasn't actually expecting articulation haha

NYFUNNY07 04-08-2020 01:49 PM

Your post states "Shipping in the Continental U.S. will be FREE"

But, Kickstarter is stating $25 for shipping in the US...Please confirm.

Thanks

dukefett 04-08-2020 01:50 PM

So many people here complaining and this thing is double the goal a couple hours after opening haha.
