I wonder if the existence of this thing will cause the MU Sentinel's price to drop off in the secondary market. I could definitely use another classic colors MU Sentinel.

metalalchemist 07-10-2020 05:33 PM

Could anyone be kind enough to tell me if they immediately charge for it or do they wait until the crowd funding is over, please?

JerpJerp 07-10-2020 05:54 PM

Daaaaang! This is like a dream. I wish I had space, oh how I wish. Haslab is going great. I have yet to order anything but what an awesome company. Love you Hasbro.

No argument, like I said perspective.

An $100 Amazon exclusive figure, which has had previous releases, is currently being scalped two years later for nearly 3x its original price on the very website it was originally exclusive to.

With that said, what do you believe will happen to the price of a 100% newly sculpted super-sized figure set, obtainable only through a limited time crowd-sourcing fundraiser, on the secondary market?

Nimrod 07-10-2020 06:03 PM

Beautiful Sentinel but at 26' scale & $350, huge deal breaker. No way anyone shy of a millionaire can army build this. IMO, Hasbro dropped the ball big time on something that coulda made em a crap load more $$ had they done this Sentinel in 16' scale & put a $79.99 price tag on it & sold it at retail. Take the bells & whistles off, just include an alternate fist plus capture cables & I woulda bought 6-9 of these. Then people who own the other 2 Sentinels coulda had 3 different in scale Sentinels to display as a triad or with the price point being way more affordable, people woulda army built this at minimum with 3. The Sentinel is one of the most popular & well known X-Men related villians in history & Hasbro goes & does a figure that is unaffordable to the majority of us whom have debt/bills to pay & many whom may be unemployed right now due to the pandemic. Not smart Hasbro, not smart at all imo.

Okay, gotcha.

Yeah, I'm positive that anyone who waits and tries to get one of these later from some 3rd party is going to wish they had just backed the campaign instead. My heart goes out to international fans who want this since they don't get a choice. I'm glad that I'm content with the MU Sentinels I got at discount stores for cheap.

ddarko 07-10-2020 07:14 PM

Looks decent, but $350 is a lot though....

Got to agree with you. This is setting themselves up for some grief. Good news is that if they mass produce, there will be lot of them hitting the bargain bins for sure...

Thor Laserpunch 07-10-2020 07:41 PM

They're 3/4 of the way to their goal since this afternoon so I think they're gonna do all right. I'm very seriously considering getting 5, but I'm definitely getting at least 3. The fomo on this thing would give me an aneurysm down the road I just know it. Now I mean, if they do eventually end up at Big Lots for like $14.99 I guess I''ll just kick my can down the road with my hands in my pockets and say aw shucks.

Nimrod 07-10-2020 08:50 PM

What Hasbro needs to do is make a 16' scale classic John Byrne 'DOFP" Sentinel exclusive via either Amazon or EE. Include open/closed fists & 2 flexible tentacles, throw a $79.99 tag on it & I'm buying a dirty dozen.

After hearing some of the complaints on cost, I wonder if there would be any interest in a no frills Sentinel in this same size. I'm thinking rotocast construction with far less articulation and no electronics.

Atomsmasher 07-10-2020 08:54 PM

I have to see how this month goes but I'll back this.

You have to sign a waiver committing to being charged the full amount on 8/24/20

Even with the cost complaints this thing will be a go in less than 24 hours, with 44 days to add more. I’m really interested in the tiers.

My wife OK’d me for 3, but she gets a new tattoo....win-win for me!

I'm pretty sure Haslab projects are made to order with only a small amount additionally produced which are sold on their ebay store only to international customers. So far the only Haslab project that succeeded and has been produced was Jabba's barge and that thing didn't wind up in stores.

Thor Laserpunch 07-10-2020 09:16 PM

I don't know... Pretty sure I saw a Haslab sail barge in the Walgreens clearance aisle but if you say so.

Are you serious? Because I have 3 of those Sentinels and if I could sell them off to buy one or two of these new ones...

Yeah, this confuses me. Why do they look so small there, but then so big in other pages?

Haslab projects aren't meant for retail. Besides, the box for the barge is almost 5 feet long. With limited shelf space, most discount department stores wouldn't carry items that large so I highly doubt a drug store would.

Thor Laserpunch 07-10-2020 10:41 PM

Bruh I was there. I know what I saw.

What was the price on it?

Thor Laserpunch 07-10-2020 11:18 PM

$29.99 but there was a dent on the box, so.

Slammed94 07-10-2020 11:27 PM

They sold for 499.99. Walgreens didn't put a $500 retail item on the floor let alone in a bargain bin at 95% off.

You sure you're not mixing up the skiff with the sail barge?

The skiff came out in 2019 and originally retailed for $49.99. In fact, several stores still carry it. Current retail price is around $39.99.

Jabba's Sail Barge was a crowdfunded project ran through Hasbro. The barge went for $499. As far as I can tell, no retail chain carried the barge. I can say that because of the limited number made that it's highly unlikely that they ever dropped below that $499 price after they were produced. After market prices are between $1200 and $2000.

You know what, you're right. It was a CVS I saw it at. My bad.

AceSimulacrum 07-11-2020 01:31 AM

Just HasLab making money off of the collector. $350 is real steep, thinking maybe $200-250 for this. Even for a Master Mold, I would still think $300 at the highest. Expected better paint and details, its okay-ish.

My opinion think people are jumping in for the add-on "reach goals" and of course the scalpers. I shudder at the price for future projects- kid in me dreams of a scaled ("better") Galactus for example. Knew that Unicron from last year was a bad sign. But happy collecting all.

Straight up! That's the Sentinel design I've been waiting for. I halfway expected this to be what we were going to be getting from Haslab, but I wasn't surprised to see a more modern take on the Mutant Hunting Robot.
If it was the John Byrne design, I'd have been in for 3 or 4, but since it is a modern design I'll probably sit this one out and wait to see what the next Star Wars Haslab project will be (hopefully it won't be a boring Sandcrawler).
