Honestly, if no one said this is a redesign, I wouldn't have guessed. By now there are a zillion Batman suits, what's another in black and grey?

Black Arbor 08-25-2020 10:04 AM

With a few minor alterations this would make a solid Red Son or JSA Liberty Files Bats!

bigkid24 08-25-2020 10:40 AM

I don't hate it but I won't bother buying it.

Todd probably is playing it safe with figures that he knows will sell. And Batman sells. It'll probably be a while before we see other lesser characters mixed in. It is still early in the line's life so he needs homeruns right out of the gate.

ludovicotek 08-25-2020 11:16 AM

Yeah, not sure about this. I don't hate it, but I'm also not crazy about it either. However, what really piqued my interest was this:

The McFarlane Gold Label Collection will feature characters from your favorite pop-culture and entertainment brands.

That's very interesting to me. It's so vague that the possibilities are nearly limitless. I wonder what's in store for this line. It's unfortunate that Batman was first out the gate because everyone is solely focused on that figure. I mean, obviously that's going to be the case, but just think of what other pop culture and entertainment figures he could be planning. He was one of the first to do figures based on musicians. Could more be coming?

DC should just change it's name to the Batverse, cancel all their titles & just make Batman comics & make a monthly Batman team up comic where he teams up with different DC characters every month so that way, McFarland can still squeeze in a non Bat character every now n then into a wave. This line's not for me & I feel for you DC action figure fans. Mafex HUSH Bats is the best version of him in 6' scale ever & I'm very tempted to get as my 1st ever Mafex fig, along with HUSH Supes. But 1st I gotta see how they scale with ML 80th anniv Cap & Thor.

I have a feeling many of my Mattel DC figures will be making their way to the salvation army or deep storage... there are however some diamonds...

*The BAF King Shark was just about perfect and is one of my favorite all time BAF.

*The BAF Clayface is another perfect BAF and is also one of my all time favs.

*I rly liked the Alfred figure released in one of the last waves with the three heads sculpts.

* Their Frank Miller Batman and Joker were excellent and saved me from buying the Medicom imports.

One of the biggest complaints I have heard about the Mafex Batman(besides too much cape) is that he is more like a 5.5in scale and is slighty underscale with the gold stand Marvel Legends Star Wars Black series figures. I havent received mine yet from BBTS so I cant confirm.

AceSimulacrum 08-25-2020 11:41 PM

Not for me, I know everyone has their own set of standards of what version of Batman they like, so hope they enjoy. Just never liked the overly stocky Batman and the dimpled cleft chin was something I never associate Batman for. Somewhat "smart" for Todd and his group to make this a limited concept edition, using the old comic book selling tactics. Much like everyone else, would like for someone to make a "promise" to make a complete line of DC characters that are not the big 3. Perhaps use Hasbro tactics and do an online poll?

He's the same height as the Marvel Legends old spider-man mold, the molds before the retro spidey (not inculding the ears)

People always crying when Mcfarlane puts something out, I think it looks bad ass and I don't even like Batman.

Andyblackirish 01-27-2021 09:04 PM

Come on we need some common sense here

Dude gold label are still £20 so far mcfarlane is doing brilliant in comparison to mattel that's why Mattel flopped. There is 10 batman figures excluded the recolour variants. People still call dark knights batmen but they're not, they are justice league villains team. Mcfarlane first wave was to test what sold, which is what dc metal villains was the first line to be completed, like all good business people to kept a licence you need to make dc money batman is how they do it, it's why hasbro will continue to make spiderman, deadpool, wolverine multiple times a year. Todd is also doing something smart something both Mattel and hasbro fail at baf that make sense, so far each baf and wave in general goes with the figure, he's waves are now generally comic runs rather that mismatched I also appreciate not having to buy 6-7 figures for a baf he's stuck it at 4. He's even doing baf over a year making it more affordable for people. What people like you forgot Todd is a huge fan aswell as comic creator. It's not hard to see why he favors batman and loved the metal comic when you see his visuals for spawn over the years. This line will be around for a time yet, he will get round to making more dc characters you just have to be patience it's only year 1 going on to year 2
