Having seen the trailer the only thing I like about the new Dune is how they did the title logo. I like they syfy channel Dune mini-series the best.

Difficult license and universe to do. Books were generally good but had so many layers. Seeing this was part of the cost to get the DC license is to crank out these figures for WB. NECA would have done a better job but I doubt WB wanted to wait for figures. Fairly solid cast for the new movie but merchandising will help recoup some money. $200M budget for the film, I'd estimate about pre-pandemic Box office Total of $300-400M. Figures are underwhelming, faces look below the GOT line.

Batista realising he shouldn't've trusted that fart.

Haven't paid much attention to the movie, the only memory I have of watching Dune as a teenager in the 80's was "wow, that was boring...even worst than Star Trek...".
Just looking at the cast in IMDB: MJ, that Mission Impossible girl, Aquaman, Drax, Thanos/Cable, Poe Dameron and Dr. Selvig. I guess they do have a big budget! |
I just realized that the stillsuit figures are missing the robe that is pretty common in the trailer and interview footage. I think Stilgar would look better with the catch tube in place. And his turban.

So that's what happened to Varys...or if you're older, what became of Powder. Joking aside, as with all McFarlane Toys-nice suit/armor sculpting, not so much the face. Does make me want to see what they could do for other properties like a Man of Steel Zod. Think others have mentioned it would be interesting to see how these scale with other toys (other companies and with other lines in McFarlane). |

So I watched the trailer today and thought wow he looks weird as F.

Why does that Dave Bautista figure look like it just smelled a really bad fart?

I was hoping for a fatter Baron this time around. This one doesn't look like he'd need suspensors to support the fat. They could easily do a truly grotesquely fat Baron using modern CGI.
|
Yeah, he looks more like Marlon Brando as Colonel Kurtz fat and not grotesquely fat. Maybe the figure is based on production photos and they're going to make him look bigger with cgi?

Agreed he should be big as the blob at leasst

^ Maybe Book Paul Atredies is supposed to look youngish, but neither Kyle MacLachlan or Alec Newman looked young IMO in their respective Dune portrayals.

I'm upset that the Hobbits in Jackson's movies weren't 10 foot tall since I saw some fan art depicting this. Any criticism of look should be compared against the original source material, not some other adaptation. |
