My Panthro has a crooked ThunderCat logo on his belt... I almost returned it but decided to suck it up and keep it. Now looking back for a $50 action figure get the damn paint decos straight!
|
Since I seriously started collecting fresh out of college about 20 years ago, a big modern Thundertank toy has always been one of the unmade grails.
But I ultimately sold my entire Ultimates collection, along with the rest of my Super7 toys (except for the Keshi figures) just because I was getting tired of dealing with S7's QC issues (mainly crappy paint, but other things as well), which they tend to be completely unapologetic for...Flynn and his customer service crew as well. And I was also tired of dealing with the increased prices that weren't accompanied by an increase in quality. I was seriously buying 2-3 of each figure just to get one that looked decent and like it should, and I didn't want to have to keep doing that for the rest of the line. Had to get out of the TMNT Ultimates line, too, much as I always wanted modernized Playmates figs, once I saw the cheapass and breakage-prone joints used on some of the figures (like the Foot Soldier). That said, I've got no hate for S7. Just don't want their stuff anymore. I'm sure this will sell. Once this toy starts shipping and is no longer in production, it's gonna double and triple in value. Happy for all the fans who are finally getting a chance to get this. |
I had to give up on Super7. They make lots of stuff I want, but the actual product is usually too shoddy for the prices they charge.
Almost everything I have bought from them has had some sort of major QC issue. The last one was Ultimate Splinter, and one of the feet broke off as I was removing it from the package. Seriously, it just snapped off, and I wasn't even trying to break in the articulation. I contacted BBTS, and they had no replacements available, and they advised me to contact Super7 about the issue. I contacted Super7 and their representative didn't even seem to read my message, and they told me to contact BBTS (which I had already told them I did in my original email). I understand that the Super7 stuff is made to order, but it seems ridiculous that they don't have any replacement parts available for customers, especially considering their notorious fragility. No more Super7 stuff for me, too much of a gamble. |

I think a better way to look at it is this is valued at 10 Thundercat figures ($45 x 10). Doesn't seem crazy to me. The Razor Crest is $350, at like $13 a figure for TVC, that's about 27 figures worth. |
Haslab had 2 items both at $350. That seemed to be the sweet spot in many minds.
The fact this will have a payment plan will help. Honestly, the size is scarier to me than price. I did not give thundercats that mush space in my toy collection. |
I'm not a Thundercats collector, but have super bittersweet nostalgia about my OG Thundertank that I sold back in the late 90s. I may have to get this, even at this price.

It certainly looks cool but man that price tag... I mean the B:TAS Batmobile from DC Collectibles with lights that seated 2 figures was less than $100 and the Batwing was about $200

Yes masters of the universe classics is over......for now. Mattel wanted to have all focus on origins but Mattel also announced a new 6-7” scale collector series coming this year. Speculation has been that this line may include some classics or at least figures that scale with them. Once origins runs its course it’s possible super7 could do more classics.
No one knows exact numbers on the snake mountain, but I also assumed it was around 1,000. Of course you know what assuming means. Lol. From the video on YouTube that pixel Dan posted with Brian talking about the tank it looks like he is expecting a couple thousand at least. I like Brian, I like super7 and all of his explanation makes perfect sense, but $490 with shipping is a hell of a price coming off of so many other large scale items. I hope he gets the numbers, I hope the fans get this, I just don’t know if there is enough of them willing to pay this. |
It's a shame the price point is a lot to take. I know I was disappointed as a kid that they toy was nothing like the cartoon back then, and this definitely is hitting the accuracy. It would have to do alot to get people to jump on this. Thinking, some effects attachments or firing gimmick, a magnetic gimmmick for "climbing" action, and some sound effects. Also thinking if they wanted to cut costs they could just let some 3rd party provide stickers, and or do away with the gimmicks for a $200-250ish mark. But then again their ultimates go for $50 so...

$250 or less would be idea for this. Drop the electronics and gimmicks. 99.999999999% of buyers will either never use the electronics or just once then stash it on a shelf.
These “premium” products aren’t providing the bang for the buck. A collectible toy vehicle shouldn’t cost the same as a PlayStation 5. I hope when Neca finally shows their Turtle Party Wagon it’ll be under $150. |
I don’t think there are any electronics.
|
I guess I shouldn't be "shocked" by how collectors are "clueless" to how expensive the tooling / molding process for these figures / vehicle's made in a much smaller quantity are.

Not clueless for most. Just in shock at the price of small run lines.
Game changer.....BBTS has this listed for $499. You only put $50 down now and $4 flat shipping. |
Super nice they are posting all these detailed pics. Will definitely be making my own because there is no way I am paying that.
Still, for those who buy, hope it is all you want and worth the price. |

i pulled the trigger but the one thing i dont like is the footprint it will assume on my shelf <sob> but i feel a moral obligation to support anything ambitious and cool that Brian and super7 do. they dont have any more qc issues than any other toy company. they all have them. |
I don't know why but that image of the guy holding the two figures on top of the tank.
LOL. It's so funny for some reason. We're all essentially adults who play with toys here tbh, but... seeing that in a publicity shot is just... I can't even. |
Went with the BBTS preorder which was surprisingly cheaper than the payment plan option. Only $50 now and don't have to worry about paying another dollar until roughly a year from now. Plenty of time to save up for it. I'm sure this will succeed, but I hope it's not a one-and-done thing for vehicles in this line. Super 7 doesn't HAVE to be this ambitious with the next one (Cat's Lair). I wouldn't mind seeing some smaller single-man vehicles in between, like the Thunderclaw or Mutant Skycutter.
Same goes for their TMNT line. It's a safe bet we'll get a Playmates style Turtle Wagon eventually, but I'd love some other small vehicles sprinkled in too like the classic Cheapskate skateboard from the first wave of the vintage line. |

I don’t see Target doing a $300 toy exclusive. They have a hard enough time moving $150 transformers without clearance given them at $40 or less. |
