They are doing Hammer Horror as well. Just haven't seen the figures yet.

Oh heck yeah, did not see that. That's awesome!

Comedian 02-01-2021 02:11 PM

So many great horror classics are closing in on 100 years old. Seems fitting that they should be done right. Neca will do them right.

Black Arbor 02-01-2021 03:30 PM

I just hope we get black and white AND color variants! Not weirdly colored movie-poster variants! Listen closely, NECA! :D

AceSimulacrum 02-01-2021 04:24 PM

Credit to the photo work. Hopefully it looks as good in hand and looking forward to what else they got. All for classic cinema icon figure if they're done well.

Well I may tarred and feathered but I want 3 versions of each.....at least. Color, black and white and funky poster colors.....maybe even sepia tone.

I get my color version and you can have a Neon Camo Wingstrike Fractal Gear Frankenstein for all I care :D

As someone who missed out on the Diamond Select line, I am happy to see this. Prices for those figures are crazy and I hope we get another chance to see the whole line. And from Neca no less! If this becomes a full line, it'll be my favorite.

And I promise you that most of those aren't worth those aftermarket prices.

I love the Universal monsters. This looks fabulous! Hopefully the distribution of these allows fans to find them. The only non-exclusive figures I ever see at Walmart & Target are BTTF Mcfly and alien warriors.

On the photo I was curious whether he's being released full color(as in Margaret Hamilton green) or in grayscale. I lightened up the image and saturated the color. It seems like he might have the slightest wash of blue on his coat and mouth. Could it be they're releasing a grey Frankenstein that sort of splits the difference, kind of like the original Mezco Silent Screamers Nosferatu. Or maybe it is black and white but with a light actual color to make it pop.

The lighter blue might be for shading purposes. My main priority would be for a B/W representation... But if they want to do color then I would prefer they go for schemes that reference movie posters.

I've only recently become aware with how guarded Lugosi's likeness is.
It makes sense on one level, but looking at the specifics of what licensors are and are not granted the license makes no sense at all.
There may be a monetary aspect to of which I am unaware.

So before i get too excited i just want to know that a Universal Monsters license for Neca means Monster(s) not Monster.

In every NECA post there's someone talking about Godzilla figures "clogging the shelves" or the like.
I have not encountered that to be the case out in the wild at all.
Not only did the Godzilla figures sell well in my area, but NECA hasn't had any new Godzilla product, and thus nothing to clog the shelves with for months.

Wow. These new pictures are so much better. Just. Wow. If they get to the Creature, I won't be able to stop myself... :o

Black Arbor 02-11-2021 06:03 PM

Edit: nevermind

Boogieman4hire 02-11-2021 06:15 PM

And with that my savings disappeared. I love that he has those flowers.

JerpJerp 02-11-2021 10:43 PM

These new pictures...I'm reallllly tempted now.

ShabbyBlue 02-11-2021 11:12 PM

Really hope this isn't a one-and-done figure. I fully expect them to release a color version repaint later on, but I'm also hoping they can do Dracula, The Mummy, Wolfman, etc. I need the full main lineup of Universal Monsters!

Also just noticed EE's price for this is $32.99. That's surprisingly high for a figure that is fairly light on accessories. I hope that's not going to be their new standard price for figures in all their lines instead of the usual $26-30 retail price (which was already a recent increase from $24-26 not that long ago). Or maybe the Universal Monsters license is more expensive and NECA is making us pay for some of that with this markup price.

For what it's worth EE sometimes just charges a little more than what these actually retail for. If every other online store also wants more than $30 then that might be stronger evidence of another NECA price bump.

The Snake 02-12-2021 07:04 AM

Instantly pre-ordered. This is the kind of Universal line I've been waiting for. Really hoping they do the Bride.

Also I'm totally fine if they do Hammer Dracula instead of Lugosi...I actually really prefer Christopher Lee anyway.

Comedian 02-12-2021 07:12 AM

Everything is going up. Hopeful our salaries follow as well. I preordered at BBTS. I just hope this is the start of a universal monsters line, and not a one-and-done.

Joe Moore 02-12-2021 08:05 AM

Update 2:

I just talked to Randy at NECA. The MSRP on these is officially $29.99. So any mark ups are being done by the stores themselves. And this is the first of many Universal Monsters items.

Maybe some miscommunication going on with neca and retailers? Cause bbts has him at a MSRP of 36 with a discount and when they mark stuff up they usually just list their price with no mention of the MSRP.would hate to think they're being intentionally deceitful.

BBTS and EE tends to pull stuff like that from Diamond as opposed to having a direct retailer account. That does tend to add to the cost at bit, but makes it easier for the retailers to place a lot of orders through 1 place, as opposed to going company to company every day.

Tracer 02-12-2021 08:54 AM

BBTS has it listed as a (Black and White) version so color has to be coming too.
