Yeah Im good with this. Maul is something I've wanted forever. Alternate hands could have been nice but it doesn't surprise me. Still don't like those Luke legs but oh well. I'd love a proper Dark Empire luke with the Vader like suit. But I'll support efforts for some EU love. Give me some Star Wars Legacy dammit.

Harbinger 03-18-2021 05:35 PM

Too bad they couldnt have bothered to give kir kanos black arms and gauntlets.

That's a pretty big mistake considering there's a green space rabbit in this wave that I've never even heard of before.

Seriously, they couldn't be bothered to do a quick Google search about the Royal Guard they're making a figure of? Although to be fair, from the reaction I've seen online most collectors don't realize it either. Which makes me sad on another level entirely, Crimson Empire is so good.

I wonder if this gets fixed before release. I don't think so, but hey: Maybe we'll get a Kenner throwback! A "Kir Kanos"-sticker on every box ;)

Or his belt. But this is clearly just an uninspired mold reuse, much like the Luke figure.

But this is just a Royal Guard with a new cape and weapon. As someone who loves Crimson Empire this really irritates and vexes me.

Right there with you. New weapon? Cool cape? Sure
Straight up royal guard body with no retooling to look at all like the comic design or colors... check!! /facepalm

Makes me scared of what other EU figures might be.

Nihilus was also an instance of them super cheaping out. He was almost entirely just built on the Maul body which is wrong for a number of reasons, chief among them it makes him quite short.

The only good thing is that the body hidden beneath the robe of the generic Royal Guard release was clearly made to be Kir Kanos so that they could reuse the mold for that purpose later. I don't take issue with that.

But not going all the way, neither in paint nor tooling the extra parts necessary and of course slapping the wrong name and bio on the box is just disappointing.

digger318 03-19-2021 06:06 AM

Tamiya metallic black spray
mr hobby UV cut gloss will fix that.

If they wanted to release another Royal Guard with minimal effort they should've done Kir Kanos instead.

Augustus10 03-19-2021 10:06 AM

Well this is embarrassing... it looks like Hasbro is pushing forward with the wrong packaging for Kir Kanos.

Smasher 03-19-2021 10:14 AM

Preorders are up on Pulse!
Get ta clicking.

You should be grateful you're getting any at all. First off, shocking almost no one, the people working on Star Wars don't have a clue about Star Wars.

Secondly, this is an odd wave of figures considering I'm repeatedly told how popular the Sequel Trilogy and The Mandalorian are and only despised by a select portion of the population.

You want more EU figures? Suck up your nerd pride and preorder them. Hopefully the'll do better next time. At the end of the day Hasbro is going to make things that sell.

"You should be grateful for a mediocre product"

Nope.

They're getting paid to have a clue about Star Wars. It’s literally their job.

You're getting told... what now? I mean the Mandalorian is popular, but the sequel trilogy? I don’t despise it myself and think the hate for it is blown massively out of proportion but still.

And I am well aware how niche the old EU Star Wars stuff is. That doesn't give Hasbro a free pass for half-assing their stuff though.

This really doesn’t have anything to do with "nerd pride" to me, it's just that I want a well done figure of a cartain character and I don’t get one here.

I as the customer am not at fault if Hasbro wants to do marketing study with bad products. If Hasbro wants to blame me should these not sell well, let them, I won’t buy a figure I don’t like just to send a message.

ShabbyBlue 03-19-2021 11:08 AM

Hopefully we get a Mara Jade figure eventually to go with this Luke

DtLS 03-19-2021 02:31 PM

What's with linking to The Chosen Prime for these figures? They seem like a straight up scalping website and they don't even have these figures available.

Wait, are you trying to argue The Mandalorian isn't actually popular because Hasbro is currently making figures of EU characters for this small batch of releases? When they've already made multiple figures for the show in the recent past and will almost certainly continue doing so?

I'm not sure that your mind works on evidence based observations but Hasbro is putting out some great Star Wars products right now, The Mandalorian among them.

Based on this one post you seem to be either not a fan of Star Wars, or someone who is a fan of Star Wars but you gets his enjoyment by disparaging the franchise.
In that case it's time for a new hobby.

Right?
See my comment about evidence based observations.

The only people who at least know what Star Wars is so far to me are the ones writing the Mandalorian, until Gina was fired, so the future of the show is uncertain. And the sequel trilogy is popular for the wrong reasons, you know your movie and your trilogy sucks when there's barely any toys for the ninth movie and your star and her co-stars are peg-warming for a long time.

Which is absolutely not what happened, but the truth doesn't seem to play a role in many discussions these days.

I suppose it's possible that Rey sat on the shelves in your area.
Unlikely, but possible.

Your first sentence is a massive contradiction, lol.

And Rey, Finn, Rose Tico are peg-warming past episode 7 and beyond and that's from visiting 2 countries. How is that unlikely to you? What a joke.

In my area the first couple of Rise of Skywalker waves moved pretty well. It was the wave(s) with Jannah and Zorii that nobody seemed to want and clogged shelves to the point that my stores skipped like three waves before they purged their stock and jumped to the Heroes of Endor wave.

Mandalorian stuff damn near flies off shelves in my area, the offworld Jawa is the only one I've seen linger for a while.

It's unlikely because I saw the opposite in a few major cities in two different states.
It also just seems unlikely because it's cool to hate on Star Wars these days and I have seen people in my own area claims that toys that had been hard to find for weeks were pegwarming.
So maybe your case is true.
No offense intended.

Gina Carrano was fired for repeatedly being a piece of shit, despite getting several warnings from Disney. The show will be fine without her.

Well at least they admitted it. Just add a quick Wookieepedia search to the list when you’re "refining your process" Hasbro.
