Some great photos Joe. I have to ask, where is that office desk from?

I'll take The Thing over Big Trouble in Little China any day, but there's no denying that Jack Burton and Co. would make far more charming action figures. :D

This figure is AMAZING. It's still hard to believe that, after all this time of bitching that NECA wasn't making a MacReady figure, it's finally here, and it's perfect. I got two and I love 'em.
Keep them coming, NECA! I'll buy anything Thing-related that you see fit to release. http://www.toyark.com/attachment.php...1&d=1622330598 |

Really tempted to pic up that Sota dio but the dog kennel Thing really hasn't aged well at all.

Just curious, do you have the two other dogs (the ones that were in the process of being assimilated) that were included in this set as well? |

Hot damn I found one today! Went with my grandma help her with groceries and decided to pop in Target for shits and giggles (and I still had $10 on a gift card) and what do you know there was a lone MacReady sitting on the shelf. Took everything I had not to squeal like a little kid. I NEVER get lucky like that.

I found Mac at Target yesterday morning. They had plenty of him, split between the neca section and an endcap in the toy department.
He's an outstanding figure. The likeness is spot on to me, but from what I saw in hand, the paint varies on these a lot. Watch out for sloppy beards, weird brown spots on the nose, bad eyes, etc... I was surprised to find the joints required no heating, they all moved freely right out of the box. Nothing was stuck. That's a big contrast from the last two Neca figures I've purchased this year- Ghost face, and Ash from Alien - no joints would move at all on them until I used the hairdryer. I did however need the hairdryer to get the accessories into MacReady's hands properly. His hands btw swap really easily. I love how many options you get for displaying him with this version, there's so many parts you can switch around. I can't wait to see more version's down the road. We need a flamethrower and dynamite version, as well as a more "frosted up" variant. My only complaint is a defect. Unfortunately mine has a messed up whisky glass. The whiskey piece was put in the glass really cockeyed, so it's not level in the glass and looks like shit. A lot of the ones at the store were like this, but my priority was picking out the one that had the best faces. I've tried to fix it but so far I've had no luck pushing it down in or removing it from the glass. It's just in there too tight. |

If I had one minor complaint it's that he doesn't come with the dynamite.

This fig is hands down one necas best figs yet.

I think it is very likely we'll see more MacReady in he future. The version out now covers his main look from the encounter with the Norwegians all the way until Gary steps down as the leader.
The next version should have the flamethrower, Gary's gun and belt, dynamite, flare, petri dishes, the spool of wire, etc... A jacketless dog kennel version would be cool, and I'd love to see a frosted/cold variant of some sort. Perhaps a final battle version with the dynamite, detonator, and molotovs. I could see Mac becoming the next Dutch, a character that can have many different variants that covers the whole film. That is if he continues to sell. As for more characters, Childs would be the obvious first choice. However, what look would we get? Indoors with the sweater? Or his blue parka for when he's outside? I doubt we'd get both, but who knows. I'd buy both. To be honest I'd buy them all, but realistically speaking I doubt we'll get much beyond Mac, Childs, and perhaps Blair. A Palmer with interchangeable parts to switch him between human and thing would be amazing. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e0a0f6bf_h.jpgSearching the Norwegian Camp by scarrviper II, on Flickr |
