I'm depressed that these aren't 6 inch. Why McFarlane, why?

jwyss234 06-02-2021 09:54 PM

I’m a little disappointed that McFarlane didn’t use this costume for Harley.

https://news.toyark.com/wp-content/u...-Quinn-003.jpg

Still, I’m pretty excited about King Shark though. I’ve been wanting a figure of him since I started watching the Harley Quinn animated series.

classicaaron 06-03-2021 03:42 AM

ill get these because im a McFarlane dc completionist but im not loving them. I guess they look fine for what they will look like in the movie but the characters themselves are just not interesting to me at all. the only one id really like is Harley quinn but then I look at her left knee in the photo and want to vomit, it is not good. king shark looks dopey to me so no interest in the build a figure. hopefully the movie is actually good and will make me end up wanting the figures more.

Robogeek28 06-03-2021 05:44 AM

King Shark is adorable!

If he gets a non BAF release, I must get him.

I don't mean to sound, well, mean, but why would you give money to a company for stuff you don't want? Completionism is an addiction, it seems...

IzzyTipsy 06-03-2021 07:08 AM

I'm kinda not liking these. They look flat our stupid, and that Harley Quinn looks like yet another random character instead of Harley Quinn.

DC's not wanting guns with their figures anymore is frigging hilarious. What's next - Joker doesn't kill and just hits people with some water from the flower on his lapel?

Thank God Marvel doesn't seem to have this idiotic credo...yet.

Does DC really have a gun restriction? The Mcfarlane Grim Knight Batman comes with guns, as does Red Hood and Flashpoint Batman...

Seems to be a more recent thing, these came out before that restriction was implemented.

But do we have any hard sources on that or just speculation? Genuinely curious haha

Marvel has plenty of idiotic credos, they just haven't hit the toy aisle yet.

Sounds like speculation but wouldn't be surprised if it was true. DC/WB have been run by morons for decades and that's why DC Comics is a very distant Number 2 and the WCW of the comic industry.

This from Prime1 studio:

And there's supposedly an interview with Mezco Toys out there which I cannot track down, in which they say products under a certain price cannot include guns and none of them cannot show guns in marketing material anymore. Which makes sense, Mezco had their Gaslight Batman without any guns and then suspiciously sold a "Victorian Vigilante Accessory Pack" under their household brand at the same time.

Add that to the fact how recent figures that should include guns either don’t come with any or random swords now and... yeah.

Good grief.... Well thanks for the info, that really sucks tho!

Jsoner 06-03-2021 08:54 AM

So I’m guessing the second wave will be Amanda, HQ (2nd outfit), Rick Flagg, and Ratcatcher with a Starro BAF?

Speculation and rumors, but given that every gun toting figure lately from DC has been missing guns...

Gotta love how guns = bad, but selling figures to kids of rapists and mass murderers like Joker and company, etc. is A-OK!

Mezco said specifically about the Constantine release that he'll include guns and cigarettes, they just couldn't show them.

https://twitter.com/mezcotoyz/status...86715394756609

"To Hell with guns and smokes you say? We have been requested to omit these items from our current marketing photos but if there is anyone who can go to Hell and get them, it’s Constantine. You’ll need to have faith in Mezco on this one!"

Indeed.

This kinda looks more and more like he's basically making Guardians of the Galaxy: DC Edition.

Hasbro's been substituting real guns for sci-fi blasters with their Marvel toys for a while now. It's not a total across the board thing yet and some figures still have realistic weapons (mostly movie figures), but it's something fans have been remarking on for the past several years.

Baron Zemo is the most recent example.

Which makes me wonder why McFarlane hasn't at least done the same, or if WB won't even let him get away with that compromise.

So odd because Black Widow comes with guns. Although I've noticed more figures of her are coming with the sticks instead of her guns.

What's next - GI Joe's with no guns? Stormtroopers with no guns? LOL.

Gotta love the Western world's idiotic double standards, no wonder they're the laughing stock of the world right now.

Pretty sure a Punisher figure in the futyre will no longer include guns but sticks and swords "'cause triggering thin-skin people bad."

If there were new reports of people getting raped by clowns on a weekly basis now I'm sure the top brass might be a bit wary of that too.

Stormtroopers would presumably be fine since they don't use real guns anyway.

Maybe that's why they introduced the Stormtrooper batons in The Force Awakens haha

GI Joe and Stormtroopers use fake looking cartoony laser guns.

I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised by how many people here are acting like this is all something new.
