This basically changes everything for me and I'm officially pausing all of my Mcfarlane purchases until we see what they put out as DC Direct.

Anyway this is a great fit. DC Direct did a lot of statues and until relatively recently, that's essentially what a lot of the McFarlane figures were (not shading the line, just pointing that out). So far that's something McFarlane Toys hasn't really tapped into with the DC toys, so there's some fertile territory there.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I have yet to see something DC-related from McFarlane that rivals what NECA has put out over the years that is DC-related. For instance, the latter has always used multi-purpose cloth capes for its caped figures, but the former has yet to.

that's great for people hoping for more animated series figures...
but as mafex has picked up the line... i think i might be in all in with mafex. |
Jim Fletcher is still part of DC Direct so hopefully he will be helping out.

This is an interesting interview from about 2yrs ago with McFarlane and Jim Fletcher. They seem to have a similar thought process

Well this made sense for DC Direct, I was puzzled why they were still releasing things when they were shutting things down and then giving McFarlane Toys the license. Makes financial sense, McFarlane Toys flexed their muscles, tackling multiple licenses and more importantly pumping out figures for shelves at a good rate especially even during the pandemic.
Agree for things like statues its an ideal fit but for the figures I'm not totally sold. McFarlane put out a 7" animated Batman which I wasnt that wildly impressed. It didn't have that quality compared to that MK11 Spawn and a few other releases. I hope he steps up his game to putting a better improved product out there as well as expanding on DC lines he's started. I am going to continue to be cautious considering he's going more mainstream big company strategy than one of a "mid premium" one like NECA/Super7/etc. |
As long as we
A. Stop getting countless versions of Batman stuff B. Keep the line 7 inch the way DC collectors had for years and years, before the nonsensical 6 inch line came in, I'm not fussed about McFarlane taking over. At least his line has meant Australian DC collectors aren't paying Ebay scalper prices the way we were under mattels shocking lack of distribution. |

I'm still pissed Mattel fucked around with the license and never gave us a completed New Teen Titans team and all of the classic Flash rogues. |
