In my city the only pegwarmers were Katy from Shang Chi. Shang himself was next but that may have been a numbers game. Iron Man followed up with that.
But once things went on sell......everyone but Katy sold. So Katy was a bad call.

Since then, I haven't really seen a pegwarmer like Wasp. Then again the pandemic I think really limited what stores got so nothings really had a good chance to pegwarm.

I don't think this wave will pegwarm except maybe Nebula.

Captain Carter, Strange, will be gone.
T'Challa I think will vanish quickly.
Nebula might pegwarm.
Zombie Cap I think is unique enough that it will probably go quickly as well.
Mixed on Spider-man just because I feel it looks unimpressive but it might scratch the itch for those who didn't grab retro.

Even that's not glaring. Sure we all prefer red Hand Ninjas, but black Hand Ninjas do exist. And it's a figure Hasbro could paint up in every color of the rainbow and they'd probably sell. People like ninjas.

The only bad call was the timing by releasing her as a store exclusive that was removed from planogram for the fall reset and clearanced out before the movie even came out and people were able to find out who the hell she even is.

Also I doubt we'll see any hard pegwarmers in the What If? wave, since it's got a good BAF to build and extra figure in the case will likely be one of the popular guys like Spider-Man or Zombie Cap.

Meta 07-28-2021 08:07 PM

Wasn't sure I would like the What If figures but now after seeing them I think I will end up getting a few of them. Will definitely get Sylvie and Zombie Capt, Capt Carter, T'Challa, and Zombie Hunter Spider-Man. That Vulture I might get though I wish it had a unmasked head sculpt.

MeLikeJinx 07-28-2021 08:21 PM

I really like blonde Nebula... and the Hydra Stomper should have come with a skinny cap IMO.

redfox 07-28-2021 09:35 PM

Damn, really disappointed that there's no Thanos-Armor Gamora. After her concept art was leaked months back, I felt her toyetic design would be a shoo-in for the wave.

Guess I'll have to take Malibu-Stacy Nebula as a consolation prize.... *grumble* *grumble* *grumble*

Jester 07-28-2021 09:44 PM

Man, when they said "New Vulture" I was really hoping it would be the one from the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon (in keeping with other recent "retro" Spider-Man Legends releases). :(

On other notes, if Robert Kirkman never gets another writing gig, it'll be too soon.

I’m down in Florida on vacation and see all sorts of clearance figs on sale. I grabbed an extra $10 Civil Warrior for parts this evening. That wave is peg warming hard back home, but not a steep discount. I wouldn’t doubt they end up at Ross of Goodwill at some point.

Yes to that and Zombie Cap.

UNIQGEEK 07-29-2021 11:05 PM

Actually ..no

That WOULD have been great if it were the case, as it is, you do need ALMOST ALL of the wave to complete the Uatu - basically every figure, except the Zombie Cap, which happens to come Double in the Case of 8 .

Only if you want a legless Uatu. Spidey and Strange each comes with a leg.

Besides that, this may have been discussed before, but why is Captain Carter "Captain Carter"? We don't call Captain America "Captain Rogers". I know "Captain Britain" is taken, but this is "What If", wouldn't this be the perfect place to introduce a new Captain Britain?

Not suprisingly, Sylvie is the fastest seller of the wave.

Same reason they call her Spider-Gwen instead of Spider-Woman, I suppose haha

In universe she's called Spider-Woman, though. Same as Kamala is called Ms. Marvel even though as fans we call her Kamala instead.

I wonder if in universe in the story she'll be called Captain Britain.

Skoob 07-30-2021 01:41 PM

Afterthought: Tigra looks a heckuva lot better than "Cheetah" as she was depicted in Wonder Woman 1984. (What were they thinking?)

I agree. The 'Carter' part seems awkward, out of place. Moreover, if the 'What If' storyline boils down to replacement of Steve Rogers with Agent Carter in the USA-based super-soldier program, a woman could be Captain America.

Doubtless, the matter has been considered carefully. A lot of options are either taken already and/or lead to trademark issues or other problems.

Lionheart 07-30-2021 05:28 PM

Tigra looks off to me... she should be more of a yellowy-brown. Also, her eyes should be bigger and more noticeably green. Still... not awful...

C'mon now, in todays America, ANYONE can be Captain America, don't even have to serve in the military & earn the rank of Captain. Just paint that frisbee or garbage lid Red/White & Blue & boom, you're Captain America!

EvilMonkeyPope 07-30-2021 07:46 PM

Steve Rogers wasn't even in the military when he became Captain America!
