Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Tho, I have to wonder if that is their attempt at injecting some comic-style dynamism. Since a head side eying left turned a bit to the right would give you that badass, straight ahead looking glare..subtly twisting the centerline of a figure. In theory anyway. But yeah I suppose that veers into pre-posed territory.

Not about being cost effective as it is getting people to buy a figure twice. I wonder if the White Knight Joker that came with 2 heads sold any better or worse for them.

White Knight Joker is basically sold out everywhere (though I think GameStop offers him on and off when they find inventory hiding in a closet somewhere), but a lot of people have been using him to make their own custom Gotham police officers. I bought one loose on eBay and did just that. :D https://i.postimg.cc/dVyGH4pZ/IMG-20...-182129913.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDxdka88bUI |

and that Rebirth Batman sample, besides the bad wash on his chin, also appears to have that molding defect where the plastic has a split in it

In mass production, the more units your produce(and sell) from the mold, the cheaper it is to make each figure.
The peg stands to begin with are cheap to produce as those molds aren't complex and that can pump out a ton of them. The trading cards are pretty cheap as it's toner and paper. Removing them will save some money in the long run but it's pennies in the short term. I think they believe it adds value in place of alt hands/heads but I don't think it does personally. The competition is including that stuff. It's certain cost effective to get people to buy the same figure twice. To me there are better ways. They didn't need that Red Death two pack. One Flash with two hands and two sets of hands. Which is then used to make Reverse Flash. Same figure but it's two different products. Infected Superman has been reused five times. My only complain is the joints on later figures have gotten loose and the Rebirth Superman needs a tan and less side eye. There's just no need for these alt heads solo releases. Just Street Fighter this thing with alt colors. Hasbro should be jealous at how easy a color swap Mcfarlane needs to do and print money. And they have Power Rangers. |

Always curious how they do unmasked for DC but the MK figures don't have them.
Swear the prototype they showed for Kitana had a removable mask or was just maskless. Now that's a line that makes sense for maskless more often than not, since you could remove them in game. |

McFarlane has been putting out nice looking figures as of late, but having unmasked heads be separate and/or exclusive releases is mind boggling. It's not 2006 anymore, even $20 ML figures come with extra heads and hands, this is really basic stuff.

They could easily redeco several of their figures to give us new looks. Even if they would change a couple of pieces like the head or the diaper piece, it would allow them to get more mileage out of the overall mold while still delivering something new to collectors. Take the Three Jokers Batman for example. Jason Fabok included a few design elements in his artwork from Michael Keaton's two batsuits. McFarlane kept those design elements so why not re-release the 3J Batman in a Keaton inspired black and yellow deco? Or release it in a black and gold, Kenner Crime Attack Batman deco? I would happily buy both of those. Just some possibilities: 3J Batman: Keaton Deco, Kenner Crime Attack Deco 3J The Clown: Nicholson Deco Rebirth Superman: Rebirth v.2.0 (new diaper piece) Modern John Stewart/Hal Jordan: Silver Age/Bronze Age Hal Jordan, Abin Sur (new head), Tomar Re (new head) 3J Batgirl: Bronze Age Batgirl Rebirth Aquaman: Not sure of the era but a more traditional Aquaman with a new head that has short hair and no beard Rebirth Batman : New 52 Batman (new belt, new emblem), Last Knight on Earth final Batman costume Lois and Clark Solar Suit Superman: Return of Superman Recovery Suit SM (new head) |
Do my eyes deceive me? Did Todd finally sculpt a figure with decent looking proportions????
That Batman actually looks like a human being. Well done Todd. |
That unmasked Robin face looks like the blobfish.
But happy. |

Unmasked Robin's mouth looks like a mustache to me every time I see it.

Looks like GameStop.com has Infinite Frontier Robin in stock and shipping: https://www.gamestop.com/collectible...re/315900.html
On sale for $18, too. Several other figures with $2 - $4 discounts, though most of them are pre-orders. |
