Seriously! I’d be all over this if it was passably classic… or even the DCEU version.

This BAF wave is based on the 2021 6-issue miniseres. We already know that McF makes themed sets based on "event" storylines.

But we want the movie or classic version!

FINALLY a Double Batman!

You know, because he dresses like a bat and he carries a bat?

Hello?!?

A Batman that finally matches Robin in color.

I noticed Ultraman is called “Superman of Earth-3” on the box. Another Bumblebee style trademark issue?

Possibly. But they also do that for the Batman figures from the Dark Nights multiverse, Batman of Earth -2 etc. Instead of Devastator, Dawnbreaker, etc. I think they are just trying to rope in casual folks and kids with the name since it's more recognizable.

Why is batman bowlegged?

This article was hilarious and proves the point

Quote:

Last week, this week, and even actually TODAY, McFarlane Toys announced more figures for their ever-growing DC Multiverse line, and about 97% of them ended up being Batman-related:

More figures for the upcoming "The Batman" movie were announced last week, a simple-yet-efficient Rebirth Batman was also announced last week, 2 different Batman (!) from the Future State comic book event were announced this week, and a Target Exclusive (argh!) Batman of Zur-En-Arrh was even announced as we were preparing this article. Talk about fate!

Boogieman4hire 01-22-2022 08:05 AM

It's obviously not a classic design but I kind of still really like that Starro though. He skews a little more Shuma Gorath/ Lovecraftian horror and that is definitely to my liking.

Not sure which other character would be popular enough to sell well, though. Supergirl would've been a natural candidate, but the series has ended (presumably because the actress wants to focus on her newborn child). Superman would be the next logical guess now that he has his own show, too.

I guess White Canary (Caity Lotz) would be logical as well since she's the lead of Legends of Tomorrow, but we already know McF doesn't release a lot of female figures.

Arrow - canceled
The Flash
Supergirl - canceled
Legends of Tomorrow - Maybe Caity Lotz, but there are rumors of this show being canceled, too.
Black Lightning - canceled
Batwoman - I personally enjoy it, but no one seems to be making any merchandise based on Javicia Leslie.
Superman & Lois - This shows seems to have found a devoted audience, and I like Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. Don't like the actress they cast as Lois, though.
Naomi - just started airing this year

That's what I mean, they did Arrow so why not Flash and Supergirl? Doesn't matter though, the iron is no longer hot. It's not even the schedule of the shows, shows like the Flash are just running on fumes now. Armageddon should have been the series finale. It's a little late to start pushing out figures now.

Superman and Lois could push out at least Hoechlin's Superman and a Steel, maybe a Lois and an Eradicator if they wanted. But so far, nothing.

Yes please. And if this season is leading towards Doomsday they could do a deluxe figure or whatever they're calling them.

Aye, I'd love me a Supes and Steel. I would love Steel to have the S symbol but there hasn't yet been a story reason him to put that onto his armour yet but with Doomsday might we be seeing Superman 'die' for a while (with maybe his death lasting between season 2 and 3 so it gives a sense of time moving on without the need for a lack of Tyler in episodes) and Steel taking on the symbol in his honour similar to the comic book reason (with Jordan becoming Superboy and gaining a cool outfit too that could make a fine action figure)? And perhaps McFarlane could then do the Steel toy then. Preferably with switchable chest pieces though I assume they'd just release two almost identical figures each with the different chest because that seems to be McFarlane's rather annoying style eh?

LOL, just more of the same...Bats/Supes in every viable costume they can dredge up. This is the worst DC based action figure line I've ever seen. It's 90% Bat related. Why not name it the Batverse line & let people know from the get go that they could forget ever seeing their favorite Non Batman based character in this line.

It could be that they learned from previous licensees. They're making a ton of Batman because Batman sells, whereas other characters languish on shelves for months or even years. It may be nice as a collector to be able to buy a variety of characters, but Mattel's action figures are still showing up heavily discounted, new/sealed, at places like Five Below and Half Price Books in my area.

Odds on Starro being repacked as deluxe "Gold Label" with a new cycloptic central piece?

Soooooooo you want him to have Ol one eye? ;)

EternianJerkian 01-23-2022 11:11 AM

Can't believe it didn't even occur to me before but regarding the brief discussion above about the Superman & Lois show and potential figures, I'd happily buy a Hoechlin 'Fleischer suit' figure in addition to his present day suit. Oh oh and the black suit evil Superman from Steel's world. That I think used the suit originally made for the Elseworlds crossover? So aye, there you go, Todd, there's at least a few Supes figure variants if you get Hoechlin's likeness rights. lol. Not sure we need 'assistant football coach Clark Kent' with his baseball cap but someone would probably make their own custom once a decent Hoechlin head sculpt became available.

Also I had to once again google both Hoechlin and Fleischer to make sure I spelt both correctly. I don't know what I struggle with spelling those names. Turns out I got it right but still doubted myself enough to check. I was about to say I never had that trouble with Christopher Reeve but then I remembered how I'd sometimes wasn't sure if it was Reeve or Reeves but it's 50's Superman that is (George) Reeves. lol.

For some reason I say 'Todd' in that sarcastic manner that Edward Furlong did in T2. lol

How much is Todd and how much is WB/AT&T just saying "MAKE BATMAN - HE SELLS"?

Doesn't sell to me...I haven't spent a red cent on this Batverse line.

Well I guess I'm officially in on Starro. I put my preorder in for him and weird Batman.

Same here. I know its a different kind of collectible but Funko does a better job at getting other DC Characters out than Mcfarlane does.
