I'm with Blue Marvel. Lando is supposed to look suave and sophisticated, not garish and goofy.

Uh... you MIGHT be overthinking it in attempting to answer my question in a serious manner.

My comment was more of an observation about the handling of the character and not specific to decisions made for the toy. "Leisure Suit Lando" feels more like a caricature, but I guess that's the goal in this age of franchise stretching prequels and remakes.

They turned Lando into a ironic hipster avatar.

I mean, it's "Pansexual" Lando from Solo so what do you expect? He's supposed to be a modern Hipster.

You might be preordering them when Season 3 debuts, but you'll be getting them when Season 4 wraps.

Maybe this new Grogu is the teen Grogu of Season 3, you know, when he's going to be whiny, rude, ungrateful and thinks he knows everything.

ShabbyBlue 04-07-2022 10:32 AM

Just to clarify, Lando wore that outfit in the Solo movie in the last scene where Han wins the Falcon from him in their card game rematch on that tropical planet. So it's not some weird new costume design that Hasbro or the Battlefront 2 video game made up.

Cyclopswc 04-07-2022 10:47 AM

Anyone has the link for Gamestop's Sev? Or he's not up yet?

For a bunch of figures made largely from existing tooling, they're not bad, but I'm getting tired of the lack of figures from the sequel trilogy, particularly TROS. Most of the cast of that movie has yet to be made in figure form. Happy to get tropical Lando, but we keep getting tons of Clones and Mandalorians in TVC, and not enough other figures.

TBS Saw IS nice, but I agree that the price is steep for what you get. I know he's fairly elaborate, but I was hoping they would at least give us a bald head (inspired by his animated appearances) at the deluxe price point.

They could still do a younger Saw (Rebels, Fallen Order, or early Rogue One) later but it would be a little more than just an alternate head since they would need to ditch the breathing apparatus and he didn't have any artificial limbs at that point. Watch them do that later as a non-deluxe.

Yeah it really is just that simple lol...he appeared that way in a motion picture

To be fair it was a forgettable movie... I remember they talk about bossk and then proceeded to NOT show him in the movie

Sure, but you're chasing the wrong windmill answering a question that wasn't asked. My comment wasn't about whether or not the look showed up in a film, the question I posed revolves around the franchise rebranding Lando as a fop and that decision being a departure from the way he'd been portrayed in the original trilogy. A point that a couple of people seemed to get. But, ultimately, it's not a bigge because, as I said, I'm far more of a Trekkie than I am a SW fan and Ronald Mc'Lando is fine if that's what people want.

Dolemite 04-08-2022 07:11 AM

There are people on ebay trying to sell their old Shae Vizla figures for as much as $400+ who are probably crying their eyes out at the announcement of this re-release with the new-and-improved head sculpt. Their chances of ever selling for those insane prices are completely tanked, lol.

Right. Billy Dee Williams is smooth as silk and made Colt 45 seem like Dom Perignon. He could roll up on a women, speak three words and they melt. Glover's Lando is a fop with a very weird cape fetish. And he totally lacks the smooth and quiet pimpitude of Williams' 'Do. Williams wore a cape. The cape didn't wear him. In addition Williams' cape wasn't as loud as a Death Star detonation. It was like everything else about Lando. Smooth and understated. But, still a fucking cape. Having to explain the difference to anyone is patently ridiculous.

Their tears have the stingingly sweet taste of Colt 45. The champaign of malt liquors. God bless Billy Dee.

Lol my favorite parts...and I'm appropriating that last one for my personal use, if you don't mind. ;)

For the record, I like Donald Glover. It's the way they chose to redraft Lando that leaves me wanting a little more development. But in defense of Glover, Billy Dee, as an icon, isn't an easy person to reprise given his almost mythical status.

By all means, my friend. Do.

I like him as well. I thought his delivery of Lando was well done. It played almost as an impersonation homage. He obviously researched the role and his cadence was so perfect to be damn near creepy at times. Glover's portrayal would have been spot on had the writers not chosen to "redraft" him as you pointed out.

Donald's definitely a talent as an actor and I hope he picks well when considering future roles. I want to see more of his depth as an artist and could see him as a lead if given the opportunity on the big screen.

I'd like to see him play an assassin. In the vein of Ghost Dog. But in a suit with close cropped hair. I can't even imagine that. Like my brain cannot even picture it. Therefore I want to see it happen.:D

Donalds assassin character could be called: The Glove, an assassin who kills using specially made gloves.
