But Walmart's self-scanning systems have a camera pointing at you for that exact reason. I know that because one time, I was buying 2 bags of oranges, not knowing the barcode on one of the bags was badly scratched and won't scan, I decided to scan the 1 bag twice. The light started blinking and screen said "Please wait for an associate", the guy came over, pushed a button and it showed a short video clip of what I just did. I have to show him the scratched barcode and explain to him why I did what I did before he cleared the system. So I guess you have to be very crafty about how you scan the items to trick the camera, or they simply know an employee that can override the street date.

To be fair, the $80+ Figuarts Lady Thor's Natalie Portman representation didn't fare any better.

I am in for King Valkyrie Groot and Jane Thor. But at 25 bucks now per figure oh boy.

I hate how Thor looks in the movie in both his Ravager outfit and that goofy blue and gold armor with the helmet

The Ravager Thor is the figure I'm most excited for. We have plenty of variations of Thor in his armored getup and to my knowledge really only the pajama BAF, so Thor in Ravager getup is a breath of fresh air for me.

goliathfasa 04-18-2022 01:35 PM

Christian Bale is playing that grey guy right?

mort 04-18-2022 04:00 PM

Gorr looks awful. I hope that's a preliminary design and the black hood gets added later.

themadbubbler 04-18-2022 04:01 PM

Solid wave.

With Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, I think the issue is that the photoreal face painting DOES look like Natalie Portman, but the underlying sculpt could be better. That's the issue with the photoreal painting- the underlying sculpt has to be accurate for the figure to look great, otherwise it's like you're painting that person's features on to somebody else's face.

That Christian Bale likeness is excellent, though.

Yeah, there's still ways around those checkouts. No system is perfect, but self checkout is still very honor system reliant.

As for the faces, either Natalie didn't approve the use of her likeness or they need to fire their face guy. Given the Figuart, it's likely she made the decision.

The villain is a bit of a letdown. I assumed that there must be some intention to change Bale's appearance post-production in order to make him better resemble the villain character. Guess not! At least his whites came out nice and white.

Korg looks okay, but others remind me of Mardi Gras. I hope the movie isn't silly.

IzzyTipsy 04-19-2022 05:43 AM

I kind of feel like it does look like fairly like Natalie Portman - current Portman.

Not nearly as good as the recently released AotC Padme in Black Series a year or two ago, but that was also a twentysomething Portman.

Thatannoyingguy 04-19-2022 05:43 AM

I really like how Ravager Thor looks. Lady Thor is interesting, too, cuz she looks quite muscular. Is she really that muscular in a movie? I couldn’t tell from a trailer.

I dunno, When they slow zoomed in on Portman I was like damn. She worked out legit, those guns were there. Relative of course, she isn't WWF Chyna or anything. But they didn't just slap Thor armor on Padme.

ronriii 04-19-2022 07:27 PM

Jane Thor looks alright but both Thors look really great so I'll definitely got both. Don't mind Gorr's movie design since you can actually see the resemblance to Christian Bale.

Nerdicon 04-19-2022 09:52 PM

Am I the only one that thinks Thor's Armor looks like it's a take on Nova Corps armor?

had to watch after your comment, and yeah, even though it's short and really only from one angle, her arms look good. i'm surprised

WallySparks 04-25-2022 10:17 PM

Ravager Thor kind of reminds me of Thunderstrike from back in the day

CosmicCreature 04-26-2022 12:30 AM

amazon has all the Thor love & thunder figures up now for 24.99 with-delivery tomorrow.
Dont think ill get these maybe feel dif after i see the movie.

deecee4 04-26-2022 08:16 AM

Not really a ML guy anymore but ordered armored Thor on Dorkside once I saw he was in stock.

Skoob 04-26-2022 02:23 PM

OT -- I'm having trouble reconciling the hyper-advanced Asgardian technology depicted in the first two Thor movies in the MCU with the glimpses that we see in the upcoming movie of New Asgard, which looks rustic and very low tech, like something from the Bronze Age. What happened to Asgardian techno-supremacy? What became of the transcendent powers of Odin and his ilk? Their mystique was a highlight of the first two movies.

Marvel seems intent on bringing these gods down to Earth in more ways than one, and I for one have a problem with that.

Well I think it's because their entire homeworld (or whatever Asgard classifies as in the MCU) was destroyed and with it all of their advanced technology was lost, and then as a double whammy half of the surviving population was slaughtered by Thanos, made even worse then when half of those remaining few were snapped out of existence for 5 years. So it's not unreasonable to suggest that they haven't been able to get back up and running.

Skoob 04-26-2022 07:01 PM

Yeah, that's very reasonable and also very fair-minded of you.

I have this nagging dread that the scriptwriters behind the current multiverse / alternate timeline fiasco will somehow 'snap' everything back to the way it was before it went haywire, like a kind of Great Reset...

If it gets rid of natalie portman id be okay with it

larryw3158 05-01-2022 06:39 PM

Still not showing up on the Walmart or Target sites yet. How odd.

GizmoTron 05-02-2022 06:26 AM

Some Targets near me aren't even carrying Legends in store right now, so not surprising they're not yet online.

MeLikeJinx 05-03-2022 06:05 AM

^ Yah, I don't think my Target will carry Legends anymore either... not until the next big reset anyway... I don't see any Legends price tags for the current setup. I don't blame them since nobody bought Eternals and AoA X-men didn't sell that well either. But IMO Target is also partially to blame for stocking those single figure cases.
