People are willing to pay more for the single Superman than they are for the 2-pack. You should not be having problems finding Lois by herself, because one could argue that she lowers Superman's value.

Those are different figures.

The 2 pack was a one off as part of the Batman animated line and saw a wide release. At one point the pack was $150ish.

The JL Superman was part of the 8 figure wave that was originally exclusive to subscribing to the DC streaming service and then was finally dumped to ShopWB. If you have most of them and want to finish the set then you have to pay up for Superman and for Batman (per usual).

GizmoTron 05-25-2022 06:51 PM

We'll get figures like Lois Lane someday.

Of course, it will be an Elseworlds variant where she became Batman or some kind of zombie/undead/horror version, but we will get one someday.

Another mansplainer who's wrong.

The 2-pack's packaging clearly shows "SUPERMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES" with zero mention of Batman. The singles were available retail wide.

IzzyTipsy 05-26-2022 06:51 AM

I'd kill for a DC Multiverse set like the Girls' Night Out animated set we got in that line. But that'd probably have to be a wave and Todd probably figures a wave of Batgirl, Supergirl, Ivy, Livewire, and Harley in their animated style costumes certainly wouldn't sell to guys...

Oh well. At least the old Superman/Batman Series 7 Livewire figure goes with McFarlane sized DC Multiverse in a pinch so my Superman has somebody to fight besides Lex and Bizarro.

Wrong. The Supes from the animated 2-pack and JL DC Collectibles line are the exact same sculpt. I've had both.

I'm not mansplaining anything. I'm debating your points.

Yes but they only made it because of the success of the Batman line. These two figures made sense in terms of the Batman line because of World's Finest.

The singles were made available to retail AFTER they were exclusive. Some people might not have known they were made available to purchase later. The STAS 2-pack was wide release immediately.

Either way they are different figures that would be displayed in different displays that available in different ways.

And like I said before the Animated 2 pack until that listing you posted has been over the $100 mark. While the JL figure is only now climbing. I've sold both versions so am aware of the pricing history of the figures.

You're arguing that Lois brings down the value of Superman and I disagree. They are different figures. And if you look at sold listings JL Superman is $50-$90 while the 2 pack is anywhere from the outlier you posted in an auction to $100-200 consistently. You just happened to pick the two listings close in price.

I've had them both too but you look at that picture and think those are the same figure? They obviously share legs but the torso, cape and head are different. Much the way that the animation models were slightly different. It's a subtle difference but so is the source material.

EternianJerkian 05-26-2022 09:46 AM

Aye, those aren't the same exact figure at all. Even on just the chest, on the right figure, the S shield is bigger and the S itself gets thicker towards the top, the neck area is much bigger, making his head look bit smaller in comparison, his chin is bigger, the cape puffs up either the side of the neck more, the shoulders are more angular, as are his abs, his pecs angle out more towards the shoulders, the hands are much larger (and open), the crotch is slightly thinner, the angle line of the shorts on the thighs is straighter rather than curved, the belt is no longer 'touching' the hip joints, the cape goes down past the knees, the feet seem to lack ankle joints for some reason.

Now some of those may just be down to photo quality or lighting but that's far too many differences to be calling those figures the 'exact same sculpt'

You just agreed with me, so there is no debate. You were wrong.

Btw I don't know if it's important but I just spoke to my best mate and mentioned that Superman 2 pack and it turns out he bought that exact set way back in July 2017 (years before that somewhat different single pack Superman) and it was sold in Forbidden Planet along with the Batman The Animated Series toys and was largely because of the World's Finest crossover with Supes and New Adventures of Batman. The Batman line was coming to a close there (at least for the time-being) and the Superman set was a sort of send-off to the line by providing fans with the Superman that Batman met, and the Lois that Bruce dated.

He showed me this instagram link to a photo he took from the day he got the set. lol
https://www.instagram.com/p/BXDXW8KloE5/

Also he told me he sold Lois a week later because money got tight and he was looking to sell off some stuff but didn't want to lose Superman after waiting years for an Animated figure of him. lol. As I said I don't know if any of this is at all important but that's what he told me. lol. I'd only messaged him originally to ask if he knows a place to pre-order Masterverse King Grayskull here in the UK for less than £45 to £50 that the few websites that even have that figure for pre-order have him for. lol

Not wrong. I never said they weren't made available to retail but only after they were exclusive.

But your original argument that Lois brings Superman down has been disproved. You can't compare the two figures and price points because they were different lines with different availability. But to really disprove your argument I found a Superman in package without Lois that sold for $80. Other listings with Lois, except the one listing you posted, was over $100. So no, Lois doesn't devalue Superman.

You conveniently gloss over the fact that your original hypothesis has a lot of facts to disprove it. So I'm done commenting on this argument since you're not aruging facts.

So any guesses on what hunk of starfish will come with Superwoman? I'm betting it's the central back piece that everything else plugs into. Which is good because I think that might give us a better sense of scale on Starro.
P.S. I hope she also comes with a mini Starro. I don't think I would've got Ultraman if not for that piece. Easily the best accessory of the year for me so far.

Same happened with the Batman Beyond wave, all of the figures (including the recent 5-pack) are Target Exclusives.

I don't understand how there isn't 10 different Punchline figures on the market already.

Man I miss DC Collectibles.

It’s because Todd isn’t a fan of female figures.

redfox 05-31-2022 09:37 PM

^Truly a shame. There are so many great DC females that'll never make it to the line.
