Hey, it's not my fault you've got to completely rewrite material sciences if you want to get me to buy a transformer. I mean, it is, but not my choice.

Looks like playmates is jumping on the no guns bullshit bandwagon. Im glad i have jo desire for these.

Still a pretty weak offering...

EvilMonkeyPope 07-08-2022 12:33 PM

I would've preferred Nancy Wheeler & Steve Harrington to finally get action figures.

manic mailman 07-08-2022 01:47 PM

playmates is a mess

mangkanorxxv 07-08-2022 03:01 PM

TMNT really need a new show. This is just sad. Not even a comic to tie in the promotion for this xover.

right? instead of getting 2 of the 4 boys, which seems off (that is if Dustin and Lucas are in the next sets.)

Well holy shit! Hopper DOES have his gun. I can barely believe it.

Why? TMNT and Stranger Things are not DC/WB properties, they can have guns. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for the heads-up! That's what I get for posting directly from the front page, and not seeing the comments.... :p

Using Playmate's previous release of TMNT/Cobra Kai two-packs as a reference point, the signs point to them just releasing the four turtles with their corresponding pack-in figures.

Yeah, there's definitely no good way to do this franchise justice with such a small release of figures. Only getting half of the main boy's group is a travesty.

With the figures being based on season 3, it might have been better to get both Mike and Max. Both were crucial to Eleven's arc in that season and would pair better with the Eleven & Hopper figures.

Tmnt is a Nickelodeon property, so I believe the surprise is justified, given how Nickelodeon has been making efforts to draw in the new generation of kids, not so much at the expense of older fans, but they sure seem to believe that.

Hellscream85 07-08-2022 10:31 PM

Well, they called me crazy for displaying my Demogorgon battling the movie turtles, jokes on them I guess.

Solrac333 07-09-2022 10:09 AM

Just like that one episode where they met and teamed up?

Afraid I have to concur with redfox. It’s been Playmates MO with these two pack. Plus, Neca’s been soliciting other figures in their Mirage TMNT line which pretty much kills the chances for more figures from Playmates.

Finn Wolfard played Trevor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Anyone wanting Mike could track that figure down to add with their ST figures.

Aye, or even just take the head from it to make a custom non-GB suit figure too (I know the ST kids actually did wear GB uniforms at one point but I just saying. lol)

True, but finding a suitable body to put the head on will be tricky. The only two options I can think of are the Marvel Legends MCU Peter Parker in the upcoming 2 pack with Ned and possibly the upcoming Lucas figure which would obviously have to be repainted.

A couple of years ago, McFarlane Toys released a few Stranger Things figures for the first three seasons. I’d have to check but I believe the figures are 7” scale. If the Playmates figures are a large 6” scale, then it’s possible that they might work with the McFarlane figures. Looking on eBay, Barb seems to be the cheapest, followed by Will.

Alternatively, if it's a season 1/2 head then it may scale properly as an older season 3 head?

I was actually thinking that folks who wanted to complete the core group of friends could use the McFarlane figures to do that. The likeness on those McFarlane figures isn’t good. Using just the head to make a custom isn’t advisable. Plus, they’re getting expensive on eBay.

Like I said, it’s just an option for people who want to add Mike and Will to their collection, assuming they’re also picking up these TMNT/ST 2 packs.

They haven't got to TMNT yet. But there's a chap on Instagram who has made 3d printed Transformers based on their appearance in the 80s Marvel comics and he went one step further and made an Optimus Prime / Party Wagon too. Which is pretty ace and does transform and all that.

Aye, go to the chap's instagram. I think he sells the schematics or whatever it's called that lets you 3d print your own stuff. It's all beyond me. I've never even owned a regular printer lol

Playmates sent both sets to Robo from the Fwoosh. As of this post, this is the only review that I've found on YT.

I found the Raph/Hopper 2 pack at Target today. Raph is better than Playmates’ previous efforts at 6in TMNT. Obviously, the PM Raph isn’t on the same level as any version from Neca or Super7. But he’s decent for $20 ($40 set/2 figures).
