So spoilers, their powers briefly got corrupted by Batman Who Laughs. They sorta seem like the run on Negative Speedforce.

It makes absolutely no difference. it doesn't give them any new abilities or changes their personalities(Barry was being a grumpy bear prior). So they get these costumes just because. Run down the street and get their old one back.

Not quite a one to two panel appearance that Mcfarlane has done in the past but the issue begins and ends with them in their proper costumes. Though Wally had his real Flash costume back for a few pages(cause you gotta tell Wally and Barry apart).

As to the overall looks. Batman. They are all Bat ears and bat gauntlets in some form.


I think I'd have a better reception if we just had regular versions of all these characters in addition to these. This line doesn't have a regular Jay, Wallace, or Wally real Flash costume. They made his other a Walmart exclusive. It doesn't matter if another line had them. By choosing a different scale and a noticeably different body, the counter effectively got reset.

This is very much a wave I can sit out on or wait for a huge discount. I know who this is for, but I don't know who this is for.

Another one of Todd and his 90s nostalgia-jerk. Not really for kids born after the 2000s who don't know the metal genre. He's bank on old farts like me to buy them.

Dark Nights: Death Metal is a 2020/21 storyline btw. This one shot certainly had nothing to do with Death Metal music.

I personally stopped caring about comic books about a decade ago. Now I'm just interested in interesting looking figures.

They seem to be the ones that sell well in the after market. Those with articulation that is.

I kinda like that African American Wally. He looks cool. Not into the other 3 especially the tats.

Don't really need yet ANOTHER Batman Who laughs. That character was in so much with so many forms and crap it reminded me of DBZ back in the early 2000s where Broly was always showing up in fan art with 50 new forms.

The comic's not about music? You don't say. The STYLE comes FROM the music artists. E.G. David Bowie's lightning bolt on the face is like the one on Garrick's face. But if one did not have exposure to the music, they are less likely to know the fashion styles.

I just hate the designs so I'm ice cold on the figures.

Wally is just a repaint of a repaint. Not a bad body but if they are going to resculpt everything, give Wally a different body. Not surprised, just disappointed.

I would of course like a brand new proper Wally Flash with white eyes and great articulation which I know Mcfarlane is capable of.

Wallace Kid Flash - Reading the story, they really did draw the kid like he was in his 20's an able to match Wally muscle for muscle. Again I hate the design and I doubt it has any real torso articulation. But I can see a decent KF from it.

Also if they drop the abs on the upper torso, they could get more range. It's redundant as the lower torso already has abs.

Jay Garrick - True Flash Garrick again has an awful costume but I can see where a normal version is coming from. I really like the face sculpt. What does annoy me is they didn't paint the jacket. The top portion should be read. I'd rather they make it a red jacket over an all blue one. This one might have upper torso articulation.


Barry: I think the main body looks great except for the knees. The arms look awful............but they have two closed fists. Maybe if I painted the arms all black, this would be a solid figure. But then it would just be a black Flash. Which you might say, get the Dark Flash figures........but those are Walmart exclusives, so you won't be able to buy them.


The Darkest Knight though looks terrific. Reusing some of the plastic from Deathstorm. It looks monstrous but also eldritch.


All in all it's a great wave from this one shot, the designs from the comics are for me, an absolute trash fire. Made worse that there is no real Kid Flash, Jay Garrick, or a proper Wally West.


What's also bad is Dark Flash is possibly the best figure from this storyline and they made it a Walmart exclusive. They made it an exclusive from variant heads. This should have been part of the main wave so it would be possible to actually buy one and be able to actually buy a variant head. Heck it would have been very solid for a Wally West body.

These look nice, but Todd's Metal obsession is starting to wear thin, tbh.

I personally dig the Metals mini verse in comic (and in DCUO, omg). And I have the core Knights, Robins, TBWL on display. I'm not going 900 deep roster tho, and that would include these. I DO however want that BAF to tuck in the current display.

I get this isn't for everyone, and I would prefer a re-focus on traditional comic looks (somewhat happening). That being said, gotta figure how to snag that BAF. Not sure he's worth 100 bucks.

Well given how there's only one black Kid Flash. Wallace West.
He's the primary Kid Flash now. No need to differentiate him against say Bart who has returned to being Impulse.
Jay/Wally/Barry all do share the same Flash code name.So you need to differentiate them.
