I think it's his modern look. Superboy is also how he appears in current comics, it just happens the current look is a tweeked version of his 90s look.

Better to create 20 new characters in a sincere effort at expanding your roster than to cynically kill off 20 B-listers and hand their costumes over to 20 "diverse" OCs.

Word!

Not a fan of that Super Powers Wonder Woman. Guess I just prefer the 70's/80's look. Nice to see (not see?) the Invisible Jet in an action figure line, though.

Batmobile...meh...I'm of the mind that either a Batmobile looks good or it doesn't. This one had some good qualities, then the front is too busy with weird ground effects or greebles.

Officialjihad 10-06-2022 09:09 PM

-I’m in on all of the Super Powers figures & vehicles.

-I’m all in on the Nolan figures but hopefully we get a Catwoman & Ra’s Al Ghul, too.

-I’m not feeling the Hush Batman due to the head sculpt & the stupid metallic blue that he’s used on this & the 5-pack Batman. The Freeze figure has a great sculpt but the color choices suck. However, I’ll be picking up that 90’s Catwoman & that Signal figure.

Zigerlion 10-06-2022 10:40 PM

Hope to get all the Death of Superman and Return of Superman figures. That means we'll finally get an accurate Doomsday soon? Yes!

masterofthemoon 10-06-2022 10:41 PM

Definitely want Catwoman in purple, that new Batman, Mr. Freeze, Joker, the Batman movie figures, Wonder Woman for the Super Powers looks amazing. Here's hoping for a Justice League Odyssey figure set and have the parts for a build a figure Darkseid

ghostbogey 10-07-2022 02:49 AM

The Ultra 7" Bats...
Looks sweet ;^)

ScottyHawkeye 10-07-2022 08:46 AM

The Nolan figures look great. Now we need a Nolanverse Catwoman figure.

They are probably doing that "release the less desirable color scheme first" thing again to make more sales of the mold. They'll likely release the human skin color version later.

I loved watching the panel. His "I never made those bad toys I tried to make better but once I started I realized how fun it was"

Hasbro heard that and was like.."Well we have a blast doing it too"

Atomsmasher 10-07-2022 11:43 AM

I'm digging a majority of what is shown off.

MPT 10-07-2022 11:46 AM

The Nolanverse action figures made me miss the NECA DC action figures all the more. I still have their Heath Ledger Joker and Bale Batman 1.0, which were phenomenal. These latest ones, not so much. I have no idea why McFarlane won't use a multi-purpose cape for Batman like NECA does for him.

We don't yet know how these will transfer to plastic, as I can't recall if we've seen a McFarlane render aside from the (totally different) portraits on the Batman '66 packaging and some promo stuff back in the Halo days.

But what do you mean by multi-purpose capes?

I mean multi-purpose cloth capes, which would allow for Batman to simulate gliding and covering himself up, for instance. What's a Batman with a plastic cape?

Villano 10-07-2022 01:51 PM

Someone on Instagram has in hand pictures of Batman 66 Two-Face and King Tut. And Tut comes with actual accessories!

I haven't seen one company or one person. NOT ONE..and I've seen em all, pull off a good looking cloth/neoprene/leatherette, etc/whatever none plastic cape, that looks good on a 6 inch to 7 figure. None..yes this includes customizers. Not a single one in my 30 + years of collecting. They all look too cheap or too thick and the threading/stitching is always too large. So I would love to see this magical cape you saw on a 6 - 7 inch figure that would lead you to believe this is something Todd who is 90% into asthetics would allow on his figures. And you can bring up the year 2 Batman but as he has stated he did that as something extra and it wound up going side ways because of breakage. Even the cloth capes he has used..Neca has used..Mezco, mafex, on and on all look terrible. It doesn't work. So if you want a cloth capes go to etsy. They have really talented people there that can run a wire through a handkerchief. It will never look like a real cape. Thats why he has them sculpted.

You can say cloth capes, duder, there's no need to muddy things. Besides, the BB gliding cape had rigid ribs in it, so you'd need a separate cape to simulate that anyhow and might as well go sculpted to keep gravity from making the pie sections from droop in flight poses.

But yes and yes, cloth capes are so much better than rubber, I can't stand the sculpted things. Broke my heart in the '90s when Kenner switched to the plastic rubbish on their Batman figures instead of upgrading the c-clip system, and few since have bothered with a substantial cloth cape that can actually be folded over the shoulders for a closed look, mostly the scalloped rectangle hanging off the back which does nothing for me except make it easier to sit in a Batmobile.

snake5289 10-07-2022 07:56 PM

I'm the opposite. Can't stand cloth goods on figures and always swap them out for solid plastic. They always look better and more detailed imo.

Raine24 10-07-2022 08:02 PM

I hate the conundrum when you've got a figure with the "wrong" cape type and want to change it... it's easy to swap cloth for plastic but harder to find a donor, while it's easy to make a cloth cape but harder to swap it in.

Its like the age old old question, happy ending or no happy ending.

...Your move, Hasbro :D

Raine24 10-08-2022 02:21 PM

I'm assuming that shot is just for reference (because that's the AMT model kit) and the price is your idea of a joking jab at Hasbro?

A Todd-sized Batwing would be huge, about 2.5" wide, and have a boatload of oversized parts that would ramp up the costs significantly, like 2x the price of the Batmobile. I want it to exist, I need it to, but unless Todd has a secret love for '89 that makes him willing to barely break even in making this thing...?
