Looking at other lines like MOTUC, playing the waiting game might have the figure prices double to quadruple. In time the prices will go down I'm sure as demand will drop once we pass the retirement age (looking at the old Marx sets etc).
All these companies riding high over nostalgia of 80s and 90s kids seems like a swansong.
I do believe this is it for action figures as technology such as 3D printing keeps advancing and these prices are not sustainable.
As a parent I will not buy action figures of questionable quality over $20... The younger generation will have less and less attachment to action figures which began with Videogames.

Hey there’s nothing wrong with getting on this line, if I were a rich man I would be all over it, they would still be overpriced, but I guess I wouldn’t care as much then, as it stands I can either get like one of these a month, or 2 or 3 figures from other lines depending on what I’m getting, at the minute my priority in this hobby is growing collections I’ve already started, but like you I loved Thundercats, the nostalgia is tugging on me deep with this line, but I’ve invested that nostalgia into Neca’s TMNT toon figures, I’ve spent a silly amount of money on that line, and will continue to do so.

Whatever the future of action figures are, especially the ones aimed at us, I think this is the golden era, I don’t think it will ever be as good again as it is now, way too much product from too many companies, there are already lines that I really wanted to get on (looking at you G.I Joe Classified), but I had to make the decision that it’s just not viable, at the rate things are going there are going to be more and more I really want to get on but just simply cannot afford, I can’t be the only one in this boat, pretty soon you may have companies with loads of stock they just cannot shift because there isn’t enough money in collectors wallets, that can’t be a good thing for the future of this business.

That's why if you have kids or children in the family you have to get them into collecting. It really is something passed down through generations. Collecting is sometimes learned sporadically but most times it happens by being involved in the life of someone who collects. Like any addiction..you gotta start em young!

Funko..love em or hate em, is the perfect company to expand the collectors market. They are cute. The properties are varied. They appeal to all ages. And becuase they do kids love em, collect em, and ask for them. This type of collecting goes from a few to many to oo i like these too. Then I didn't know these were made i gotta collect those. The collecters market will never die this includes toys. Unless we all do. The market is experiencing the same thing it did in the 90s. Too many companies releasing too much at the same time and this will cause the bubble to again burst and crash the toy industry. Some will survive some will be.. remember them..

I've played video games since I was a child, atari to ps5 and now vr. I never thought wow these video games make me not wanna own a figure.

Ive been buying my 2 year old son little figure sets from stuff he likes, such as Bluey and In The Night Garden, plus he has a massive animal and dinosaur figure collection, he plays with them daily, and recently he’s been looking through a toy catalogue for stuff to ask Santa to bring at Christmas, and has asked for quite a few ‘fibbers’ as he pronounces it, I’ll be doing the same for my baby daughter as well when she gets old enough.

My son has no idea that I collect, I have nowhere to display my stuff, so mostly I store it in the attic and take some down now and again to admire them, also I’m an in box collector, I know for a fact that if I shown my son my collection today his first words would be ‘let’s open them’, and if I agreed his second thing to say would be ‘let’s play with them’, and he would be right, these are toys after all, but I don’t know how I would explain this particular figure is worth X amount, this one was an exclusive etc etc blah blah blah. I’ve got a lot of years before he and my daughter are ready to view my collection, but 100% I’m sharing this passion with them, and I’ve already got some pretty cool shit to show them.

I have zero qualms with $55 figures existing, I just want them to be worth $55, not one of these Thundercats is worth the price tag in my opinion, they are a bit stumpy and don’t come with a boat load of accessories, and in general just don’t have the wow factor a $55 figure should have, (except maybe Slythe and Vultureman, those are great figures).

No doubt we are living through an 80’s/90’s figure nostalgia phase right now, Thundercats is right up there on that nostalgia list, I just wish they weren’t currently locked behind Super7’s overpriced doors.
