Look at my attached picture on page 1 from a 4K 1983 print. It's not nitpicking at all when you consider how the official releases of the OT have destroyed the films over the years.

Anyway, let's get back to toys....

Since it's Nitpicking Jackass Day here in the Toyark Forums, it's worth noting that the eyebrows were removed for the 2004 DVD release, not the 1997 Special Edition re-releases.

This is the part where User897 pulls the You Know What I Meant card despite torching another member for having the audacity for not knowing some Vader figures have eyebrows.

You don't get to torch a thread and decide it's time to move on because it didn't go the way you wanted it to.

Considering what Disney's done to this franchise complaining about Darth Vader's eyebrows is the equivalent of adding "she doesn't take out the trash" to the list of reasons why you want a divorce.

But like the rest of the "Hasblo" crowd this guy seem to have an inability to cut the cord and just move on.

You and everybody else still clinging to the past need to get this through your brain: Star Wars is dead. The people in charge killed it and they are incapable of fixing it. You want to spend money on SW stuff save your money and give it to some eBayer selling the DVD trilogy with the original versions on it.

Whatever you say. You're wrong, but whatever. The official DVD's are a joke by the way. I have them in 4K from 35mm prints, so I'm good. That aspect of Star Wars is NOT dead, thanks to the fans.

Everyone notice how Mr. I Know Everything About Darth Vader's Eyebrows is getting less and less mouthy?

Funny how you don't say what I'm wrong about. Since Disney ruining Star Wars is an opinion I'll assume you are referring to the removal of the eyebrows:

Then by all means continue to support the company that hasn't done anything that you like since 1981 (liking two out of 11 (?) movies isn't really a ringing endorsement), destroyed Luke Skywalker, thinks Lando's sexuality is important, and-most importantly-has ZERO F****** RESPECT for the paying customer.

Like I said, you "Hasblo" clowns are all the same.

Comedian 02-03-2023 03:03 PM

I was going to complain about not having preorders anymore……but maybe I need to take a side on the “eyebrow” saga?

So every other toy company lets BBTS and Entertainment Earth list preorders…..but not Star Wars by hasbro?

We’ve heard your earlier feedback on the number of pre-orders, and we have decided to adjust the number of them in the new year.
I feel like they took away the wrong conclusion here.

Is this what you are looking for?
Wow! Are those 35mm prints really in 4K?
From the original trilogy?
Wow!

Am I doing this right?

RIP Sebastian Shaw, the one true Anakin Skywalker.

That was pretty funny.
Respect to Sebastian Shaw, too.

Maybe they weren't eyebrows but space caterpillars -and then they moved on by themselves.

I remember those squiggly bugs on Palpatine's hood, too.

I think too many people in the Hasbro hobby preorder from 12 different sites and then only keep the preorder for whoever gets stock first. This creates a glut of excess stock everywhere that sits until clearance. I am not going to blame the consumer for this behavior. Hasbro distribution is a bloated dinosaur that needs to be euthanized. Don’t make adult collectors hunt at four different general goods stores where employees hate us. Just sell to us direct. Hasbro thinking the big box stores are their friends is like me thinking my car insurance agent is my friend. They are not. Additionally, plastic free packaging is not retail friendly. No one impulse buys a cardboard box. Just cut out a bunch of the middle men to tighten up production and distribution. But this makes too much sense. Leave it to Hasbro to cut out the end consumer from their business model and leave the middle men.

protostar8 02-04-2023 11:11 AM

How will this affect online retailers that typically have pre-orders?

dcypoe 02-04-2023 12:04 PM

removing pre-orders is going to allow companies to artificially label items as "sold-out", which then raises resale prices, which in turn creates demand whenever there is a "restock". NIKE has been using this model successfully for decades.

User897 02-04-2023 02:20 PM

Hasblo gets paid for all product that leaves their possession. They DO NOT CARE what happens to it once it is gone. Unfortunately, that is part of the problem. There's no easy answers anymore and like I said, they just don't care.

This thread is kind of useless at the moment, but this preorder change is a big deal. This is going to do serious damage to collectors, and it's going to seriously affect demand and supply for many of the main action figure lines (Classified, Black Series, Legends).

Maybe Disney stepped in to stop Star Wars preorders, but I have a feeling we're going to see this roll out to all the lines. And it's going to be awful. Preorders and online sales saved action figure collecting when it was about to die. Going backwards isn't going to help goose demand for these lines. Along with price increases, poor logistics (even with preorders), and packaging changes, it's going to kill them.

Otter 02-05-2023 01:09 AM

Agreed... I don't much care for the hunt anymore.

They most definitely care if figures are sitting on shelves, hitting clearance. Big Box stores base their orders on these sales. I wouldn't be surprised if they asked Hasbro to do this to artificially increase hype/sales.

Besides obvious pegwarmers like Lando and other undesirable figures (that I'm sure weren't preordered anyway) do big box stores really have an inventory glut problem? Did people see figures like Archive Palpatine, Obi Wan Darth Vader, and Aurra Sing (just a few heavily discounted figures that come to mind) sitting on Target and Walmart shelves?

I feel like Pulse, Amazon, BBTS, and EE are more affected by preorders one way or another than places like Walmart or Target (who don't even seem to put mainline Classified or Black Series figures up for preorder any more).

Fans complained about preorders because of incredibly long projected delivery times and ridiculously uneven logistics (some retailers could get figures six months or more ahead of others). The solution isn't to get rid of preorders. It's to deliver the product in a competent, more even way. Want people to buy more from Amazon, Target, or Walmart? Don't ship isolated cases to BBTS, Dorkside (RIP), or EE months and months ahead of general distribution. Hasbro is so bad at logistics that it's almost comical.

I'll come at it from a different angle. Vader got absolutely burned to shit. Why would his eyebrow survive when everyhting else was crispity crunchity?

Vader with eyebrows = Idiotic.

Right. Folk asked Hasbro for a solution that makes sense. Hasbro's response? Get rid of the object of complaint. I'm sure this solution will fix everything by making the figures even harder to get.

jscott991 02-07-2023 11:05 AM

The Legends wave revealed today has preorders going up tomorrow at 1 PM so who knows what is going on. There's a Classified wave supposedly becoming available in the middle of this month, so we will see what happens with that.

I'm still worried. But if I can just get my CW Ahsoka and female Cobra Troopers preordered, I guess I don't care much what happens with the rest of the lines (I've given up on a real Cobra Commander and I don't know if we will ever get Black Series Shaak Ti or Luminara).

Darth Revan 02-07-2023 11:40 AM

Some of us actually need preorders to be able to get a fair chance at the hard to find figures.

So instead of responding to this like a well-rationed adult who can form an argument, defend his positions, and accept that he was incorrect and maybe played too hard in the paint, User 897 sent me a visitor message telling me to go f*** myself.

I'm not going to do that, but if/when I get to your age (by what was written here it sounds like you were alive to see the OT in theaters) and I'm blowing a gasket over something like Darth Vader's eyebrows it's a safe bet I've failed at life and will probably do something else to myself that you'll probably approve of.
