Finished Sins of the Fathers and started up Partners in Crime.

The Venom/Carnage 2 parter is really weird, but Carnage working with Dormammu fits his character so well. Having to tone him down though, does not. Still, for having him to dumb him down, they did a good job of still making him a credible threat. I guess it was cool seeing Iron Man and Wr Machine in these episodes. The Spot episode is very random, but it is cool to see another obscure Spidey villain make the cut. I wish the Enforcers or Man Mountain Marko had been featured in this show. Then again, I could say the same about a shit ton of villains like Human Fly, Beetle, Gibbon, Grizzly, Will O'Wisp, Tarantula, etc.

Anyway, I do like how the episode ties into the Green Goblin finale. Goblin War is such a great episode, but I feel it was too soon for Felicia to learn of Jason being Hobgoblin. I mean, it wasn't a huge shocker given Jason was also voiced by Mark Hamil, but I still think more could have been done with that. The way they re-enact the Death of Gwen Stacy for children is really neat and has some truly great animation going on there. Overall, not as strong as the last season, but this was a solid set of stories with a good cliffhanger ending.

The Robbie episode for Partners in Danger felt way too short. Too easy. I loved the Jigsaw Jonah stuff, however. The two parter of Felicia becoming Black Cat was interesting and I love how they managed to also tell us Captain America exists in this universe without him even being a focal point. On the other hand, the Kraven episode is a bit weird. We have Flash and Debbie out of the blue doing an investigation even though we haven't seen them in quite some time. The plot itself is really weird because Crawford said she had used the entire serum in Season 1 to heal Kraven, but then in there Kraven tells Spidey he used what was left of it to heal her and had to come back to NY to get the last vial to restore his abilities. I also find it weird how he is not Chameleon's brother in this show.

I remember now why this one didn't grip me much way back when. They're mostly stand alone stories despite having a central title. I mean, Black Cat is only in a third of it, so it's not like Peter is working with her the entire time.

Anyway, first episode I watched from today's batch featured Smythe working with Baby Silvermane and his daughter. It's an oddball episode and they talk about how Scorpion and Vulture disappeared after the events of NN, which was like a year ago at this point. Then, we find out Scorpion has chained Vulture up to the wall in his living room. Like seriously? He's been in the living the entire time just hanging around for the last year? Does he need to eat? What happened to having the Man-Spider mutation in his blood? It was so weird.

Anyway, after that came the return of Morbius, which was cool. The story seemed a bit rushed though and feels unfinished because the next episode brings back Blade and a plot with his mom. It's so out of left field but okay. And then Morbius and Felicia decide to just leave with Blade because reasons.

Now I did really enjoy the Harry becoming GG one, and having Punisher in there was oddly interesting. The worst part was MJ just randomly showing up. I mean, obviously I know why, but the execution just leaves your head scratching as she acts like nothing is wrong.

Oh, the biggest thing that threw me off is Aunt May sounds completely different now. I can't tell if it's a new voice actor or if her VA was just having an off time when they recorded the few moments she has appeared in this season.

Lastly, it just occurred to me that Doc Ock is Alfred in BTAS.

And that's the end of Season 4. This season really had no idea what direction it wanted to go in and featured some of the worst episodes of the entire series. The MJ/Mysterio one was pretty awful. May be my least favorite episode up to this point. The plot is just so damn dumb even by comic book standards and makes little sense.

The following episode with Lizard was equally stupid, but it at least had more direction of what it was trying to accomplish compared to the previous one. Not sure how i feel about MJ jumping off a building just to see if Peter would catch her. I mean, yeah, obviously he would, so what was the point of that? What if he just stood and was like, "Well damn, that's on you!?"

Thankfully, the Prowler episode was pretty enjoyable and the way the narrative was executed felt a lot different compared to the way other episodes have been handled. I loved how a lot of it was under the perspective of Hobbie.

I've started Season 5. Well, I'm almost done with it.



The Wedding was a pretty enjoyable episode, though it really should have been either an extended episode of a two parter. It was pretty rushed.



The Six Forgettable Episodes, I mean Six Forgotten Warriors is all over the place for me. I like the idea of bringing Timely Comics heroes and it was a cool way to bring Cap and Red Skull into the show. However, the animation is god awful (there's a scene were Electro's legs are in two places at one time), the editing is a mess (heroes are running towards Rhino, next frame Rhino is knocked out on the ground somehow), and Electro being Red Skull's son makes no sense. And I don't mean the character himself, I mean him actually being Red Skull's son. The dude looks like he is mid 40s at the most, but the way Red Skull talks to him, he raised him. That means the guy has to be around 60. I also am not a fan them making Chameleon be his half brother when it's supposed to be Kraven. The new voice of Aunt Man is really annoying as is Captain America's voice. I have to say, these are the worst casting choices in the entire show. Not to mention someone else does Red Skull's voice when it was David Warner in his previous appearance.



Now I did like the first two episodes that revolved around Peter's parents and it was nice to see the (Not So) Sinster Six back. I am perplexed as to why Scorpion would work with Kingpin again considering in the Wedding episode Kingpin ripped off his tail and tossed him across the city as if he were a football. However, episode three is where things started to shake while four and five were not the show's high point.



The Return of Hydroman is weird because it starts out where The Wedding seemed to end, which was odd. I felt like the episodes were reversed even though there was no way it possibly could for obvious reasons. It's also so odd to introduce Miles and his cloning plotline so late in the show when it was rapping itself up. Hydroman also seemed very off compared to how he was portrayed back in Season 2. Sure, he might have been a clone, but I just didn't get the feeling that he was supposed to be the same character.

Well, only 5 episodes to go!!

Eh I thought David Hayter was a pretty solid Captain America.

Is that who voiced him? I guess he needed more gruff.

Secret Wars - When I first saw this, I wasn't a fan of it, but it was cool to see other heroes appear. However, the story seemed rushed and I always wondered how it compared to the original comic. Now, it's still a rushed mess and a complete bastardization of the original comic. Of course, I also found the original comic to be pretty lackluster, so I guess in some ways it is better than the comic because it streamlines everything. It still has a lot of issues though. Doc Ock got the shaft. What was the point in giving him his own kingdom if he was just going to end up being someone's stooge?

Also, it made no sense to do 3 Spidey villains and 2 others, especially if they weren't going to do anything with them? At least Red Skull had appeared on the show before, but Doctor Doom was kind of just there. He had little to no development. I know they wanted to re-enact the comic of him obtaining the Beyonder's powers, though, that was rather pointless since he didn't even change his costume to match the comics when he acquired them. The way they defeat Doom was also pretty lackluster.

Another thing I do like is Beyonder says he is going to return to them home at the exact same time they were pulled with no memory of what happened. That renders everything pointless. Also, that means the ending to Part 2 with Morbius and Blade served no purpose either as Black Cat is just going to teleport back in the midst of the battle. Oh, and poor Cap gets sent into the void for the third time. Overall, since it all amounted to nothing, there were no stakes, so none of it mattered.

Oh, and what is up with the video quality of Part 3 on Disney+? It is horrible looking. The opening song is missing and the video noise is excessive.

The Original Spider-Verse - This is a fun finale despite also feeling like it needed a third episode. Having the Spider Armor was a nice touch considering the comic used it in like 10 panels before it was destroyed and it was never seen again. I think having Spider Carnage be the big bad was damn awesome and it was a nice touch having Gwen appear in an alternate universe. Kind of funny to think though that in that universe Peter owns a corporation and now he does in the comics. I have mixed feelings on the ending though. I did like them using Uncle Ben to defeat Carnage. On the other hand, did we really need to have Peter go into the "real world" and visit Stan Lee? It's unique fanservice, but that time could have been spent of him and Web getting MJ back instead of requiring us to imagine they got her off-screen.

Overall, the series was actually better than I remember, though some of its issues remained, such as the CGI models, reused animation bits, and bad editing in the later seasons. The final season is still my least favorite season, while Neogenic Nightmare is definitely my favorite. Picking a favorite episode is tough though. It would probably be a toss up between Hobgoblin's premier, the symbiote 3 parter, or the Insidious Six 2 parter. Either way, if they were to ever release this show on BD, I would totally buy it.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should rewatch Spectacular or see if I can make it past episode 3 of Unlimited.

Just finished watching "Mindhunter" on a Soap2day(https://ww25.soap2day.day/), where you can find all sorts of shows without the big platform restrictions. It's absolutely gripping! The psychological depth they dive into with each serial killer, coupled with the personal struggles of the FBI agents, makes for a compelling watch. Jonathan Groff is fantastic, really brings his character to life with so much nuance. It's a bummer there's no Letterboxd for shows, right? Would love to hear what you guys are diving into these days. Any hidden gems on your radar?

The last show I watched was The Bear Great. storytelling and intense performances! Highly recommend it if you're into character-driven dramas.

Not finished, but I just started watching Heartstopper, and I'm hooked. Nick is so dreamy.

I got all three seasons of Batman the Brave and the Bold for Christmas and just finished it last night. What a damn good show. That ending gets me every time.

Brave and the Bold was definitely a show that took a bit for me a to get into, but once I did, I loved it. Getting to see so many DC heroes that never get exposure was great. It made me a fan of the Metal Men.

I really slept on this show before it came out, I thought it was the epitome of MCU fatigue, but I was so wrong. The diversity of the cast is great, and I actually prefer Peter’s new best friend to Ned. This show got some things right that the Homecoming trilogy didn’t, like Uncle Ben. Also, I didnt think I would like Norman replacing Tony but it was surprisingly interesting, and actually silenced my inner doubt from Tony Stark haters who say he wasn’t a good mentor. This show highlights that Tony was a good mentor. Unlike Norman he respects who Spiderman is.


Anyways, Lonnie was done really well too, and didnt see the twist coming. That said, my criticisms are that it didnt quite stick the ending, and also, Otto Octavius has to be the worst representation of the character I’ve seen on screen, he’s so dumb looking and one dimensional.

This show is basically what What If failed to be.

Was hard for me to not hear Hoss Delgado every time Batman spoke.

I was also impressed with how good YFNSpider-Man was.

Anyway, been watching Doctor Who Season 25;

Remembrance of the Daleks - I've only seen this story once and wasn't all that thrilled with it back then. This time around though, I absolutely loved it. I'm not sure if it was the updated effects that helped or the additional scenes, but I didn't find a dull moment in this story. I loved the little stunts they did with Ace and the banter between the two scientist lady's was fun. McCoy had some great dialog. On the other hand, Davros being in it was not surprising since he's been in every Dalek story ever since Genesis. I also enjoyed the little nods to Hartnell's Doctor, something I completely missed the first time I watched this story. Although, I'm a bit confused as to why the Doctor would have been luring the Daleks to 1963 when he hadn't actually met them yet. That little oddball mishap aside, I'm glad I got to rewatch this one.

The Happiness Patrol - Despite having a couple of narrative oddities, this is hands down one of the greatest DW stories ever and the extended version makes it even better. The new effects were stellar too. McCoy is just fantastic, specifically during the scene with the two snipers.

Silver Nemesis - There's nothing any more satisfying than watching Cybermen kill a crap ton of nazis and it is glorious. Easily the highlight of this average at best adventure. I didn't dislike this one as much as I did the first time, but I still found it to be wildly mediocre. I do love the banter between Ace and the Doctor. My favorite moment of theirs is when he is asking her about not making explosives and not carrying them on her. She also gets to do some pretty cool action sequences, something the companions have lacked since Leela left. Nevertheless, the plot is mixed, I'm not really sure what the point was of the woman and her servant from the 1600s as they felt like fluff to expand the run time. Still, like I said, I enjoyed it more this time around, but it is easily the weakest story of the season.

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy - Every time I hear the ring master do his little rap number, I keep expecting him to sing the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme. :lol Anyway, I love this story so much and the Gods of Ragnarok are such an interesting trio. Ace is great as is the werewolf girl. If there is anything I have to complain about this story it's that I want more of the Psychic Circus. I really feel this story could have been a 6 parter.

With that said, I am ecstatic that McCoy is the first Doctor to have his run fully complete on BD. I can't wait until I can start saying that about the rest.

We watched all of the bonus features on The Happiness Patrol except the two Matthew Sweet interviews while we did everything on the Silver Nemesis discs. The Sweet interview with Cartmel was quite good. The 1988 making of Silver Nemesis was a bit of a bore, but had some solid moments. On the other hand, I did not care for the NJN interviews with Turner and Clough at all. I got a laugh out of Aldred talking about an outtake from Silver Nemesis got her more money in royalties over the years than doing the entire show. Alternatively, I was not a fan of how Fielding guided her biasness against The Happiness Patrol onto her cohorts, causing them to not enjoy the story either. She really did a disservice to the show.

Anyway, for the season, I'm going to rank the stories in the following order:

1. The Greatest Show in the Galaxy
2. The Happiness Patrol
3. Remembrace of the Daleks
4. Silver Nemesis.

This is easily the best season the show has had since Tom's third. Now if I were to rank all of the McCoy stories:

McCoy started out on a low point and worked himself up immensely to provide an solid experience overall. It is a shame a fourth season was not allowed to even give the characters a proper send-off.

Devil May Cry on Netflix was worth the wait.

We finally started the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who from that big anniversary box set I got in 2023. Turns out, they're the exact same discs as the original sets, just with a new label on the disc itself. :lol

Anyway:

The Eleventh Hour - This might actually be the best premier of any of the Doctors for NuWho. It's well told, well paced as it never feels rushed, and has a good mystery to it. Plus, the Doctor is a total badass at the end and I love the music in it. Amy is cool and there is some really cool camerawork going on.

The Beast Below - A bit slow and underwhelming, but it's got an interesting plot even if it feels a bit convenient with how it all ends. It also reminds me a bit of Rose's second episode from the first Chris season.

Dalek Sentai Exterminager... I mean Victory of the Daleks - For the most part, this is a really solid episode that gives us something unique with the Daleks even though you knew where the plot was going to go for the most part. The new Delaks are pretty awesome and I like that the episode ends with them getting away instead of being defeated for the millionth time. The guy they got to play Churchhill was great too. I love the Doctor using a cookie as a self destruct device.

The Time of the Angels - The return of the Weeping Angels AND River! Awesome, just awesome. Another solid episode that has a very great start and continues the suspense as it progresses. The banter between the Doctor and River is fantastic too. The scenes in the save towards the end is creepy as fuck too, the way Doctor Who should be.

Flesh and Stone - A solid conclusion to this great two parter that keeps up with the suspense. I really feel like this is the peak of the Weeping Angels when it comes to fear factor. Everything afterwards had no idea what to do with them.

Vampires in Venice - An interesting premise that has some really strong creepy moments. I love the conversatins between the Doctor and the mother and the scene of Rori fighting the song is pretty damn hilarious.

Amy's Choice - Toby Jones is such an underrated actor as he always gives his best performance in everything and this episode was no different. It's got some good twists and turns going on even though the evil village plot line is nothing original. I really got some Resident Evil 4 vibes from it, and that works for me.

The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood - This one frustrates me because the first episode is actually not all that bad while the second part is quite the let down. I am not a fan of the new design of the Silurians because they made them look TOO human compared to how they were in the original series. The whole plot also plays out too safe as everything just ends in one convenience after another. If nothing else, the mother really should have had some consequences for her actions, instead, there are none, which makes it just flop out in the end.

Vincent and the Doctor - This is hands down one of the best episodes of NuWho ever, and may be Smith's best. The invisible monster is far more effective than you would expect for a budget saving tactic and Curran just slays every scene he is in. It's suspenseful, it's tragic, it's heartfelt, everything works.

The Lodger - A stupid, sometimes cringey, but fun episode, which was needed after the heaviness of the previous one.

Spiderman 3 Editors Cut

I really thought this would save the movie but the changes are really superficial and shows that the problems are baked in. Sam Raimi wrote this movie, where as he didn’t write the first two movies. That’s part of the problem. The other is that Harry should have been the sole villain. Maybe Sandman. But retconning him to be Uncle Ben’s killer destroys the message of the first movie and needlessly dredges up Uncle Ben when he was given beautiful closure in the second movie.

I sort of disagree with you. No, it's still a mess, but it's improved by the following items:

1. Harry decides to help Peter on his own rather than some dumbass speech made by the butler.

2. Venom threatens Sandman's daughter if he doesn't help him, giving him a reason to work with him compared to just doing it because he's angry at Spider-Man.

3. A bit more development of Sandman's family.

1. I actually liked that scene and felt it shouldn’t have been removed, as I think Harry needed the push and it gives Bernard more importance as someone in Harry’s corner.

2. I don’t recall Venom threatening his daughter

The problem is it makes no sense. The butler knew for 2 years that Spider-Man did not kill Norman but let Harry go on a downward spiral before saying anything?

I just finished watching Fallout, and I really enjoyed it! The world-building was fantastic, and the mix of humor, action, and post-apocalyptic chaos felt just right. The characters were engaging, and there were plenty of surprises along the way. Definitely a solid adaptation for fans of the games. Can’t wait for a second season!

I think Harry already knew, he was just in denial. He stumbled upon his father's murder armory and found out he was one of the most nortorious mass murderer's in NYC, and still chose to defend him. The scene was more about giving Harry that push.

Still, if you choose to see it as making no sense, there are things about that movie that make far less sense than that...
