I'm on board as well that for this to go retail it would need a new movie or tv series. I loved the 02 series and figures, and I would have seriously considered collecting them if their case assortment wasn't so bad. The bad thing is what SMEGS said, kids don't know He-Man. If I showed my 5 year old nephew He-Man he wouldn't know who or what he is. This franchise is definitely something that needs a reboot to get a bigger market and become more popular amongst kids.

Hey, they bought Kenner once upon a time.

Hasbro would be a huge toy giant if it aquired all the Matty lines as well, they would rule the toy isles.

I would love a Battle cat I could put on my desk, or whatever the robot horses name was from the old He-man, I still have him I think he was Fisto's horse?

The 2002/200X MotU series encompasses the best and the worst of trying to revitalize the 80's nostalgia brands. In my opinion, it was probably the best "reboot" of an 80's property that we've seen. It took the original, remained more-than-reasonably faithful to the designs and themes...and then improved on the original in virtually every way. Deeper, more clearly laid out mythology, excellent character designs still readily recognizable as "who they were supposed to be", better action, better animation, etc...

But sadly, it didn't gain much traction with kids, and because of that Cartoon Network started screwing with the scheduling until they basically scheduled it out of existence (they did the same thing with JLU). Why didn't it catch on? Well, possibly because kids had no attachment to begin with, so a large part of what made the 200X series so "cool" to us was utterly lost on the kids.

Never gonna happen. Besides, Mattel is a bigger company than Hasbro, believe it or not.

Yup. Mattel is the #1 toy company in the US and Hasbro is #2. Of course, there are two reasons why Mattel is still number one: Hot Wheels and Barbie.

From what I understand, that gap has been narrowing quite a bit in the last several years.

Yes, I believe it has something to do with a couple movies that came out recently....;)

Personally I would be for the Masters of the Universe toy line returning to Retail stores, and I agree that they would need a TV series or movie to get this line back into retail.

I loved the 2002 series, and I would be up for another take on a new cartoon, and hopefully it would be on another channel besides Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network has a habit of canceling the good shows like He-Man, Megas XLR, Transformers Animated, etc. for the lowbrow shows like ed, edd n eddy, flapjack, etc.

And if they were to get Masters of the Universe back into the Retail stores hopefully they won't make the mistake they did with the 2002 toy line and flood the shelves with only two characters. I remember going to the toy aisles and finding nothing on the pegs except for He-Man and Skeletor.

I 100% agree...
