We've known for a good long time, since the Fury fig was shown at SDCC last year, that this is not planned to be the *only* Fury fig offered. This one's head is modeled after Jesse Falcon, and they've long said there was going to be a comic version coming down the pipe. If ya don't wanna get with this program, don't worry and just wait a while longer.

There is a better pic in my link to the Singapore Collector forums.
I believe he has a jetpack too.

Hey, it's 6-1-09, and the site is still not up! Ok, it is only 1:47 AM, and I suppose they are not in the office yet. LOL.

Edit: It is 5:42 AM EST, and the sleepy heads at Marvel still haven't opened up the webpage. Oh, well, hopefully they will get in the office soon. LOL

Nick Fury page is live.

Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited | Subscribe to Read Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, Wolverine, Thor and more Marvel Comics Online

you also have to send a check for 4.99. I don't understand why you can't just fill that out online and such, instead of using a check... grrr.

Also, think this may be my first post here at TA, but I post at Hiss Tank a lot. Usually just roam these forums.

Autobot_Goldbug, what do you mean?

Can't you read? All you have to do is buy all of the first three waves of Marvel Universe figures, cause you never know if you might need any of the codes or UPCs. Then, you only have to buy a subscription to Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. Finally, you pay just $4.99 for shipping and handling. It's practically free!

Still though, I'm getting mine for sure. I really do like that he comes with that gun he used in Secret Invasion.

Snowflakian 06-02-2009 08:27 AM

After looking over the comic selection, I love the idea.

But I still wish they'd use the code part of the site for something, so it has more meaning and use for agents. It'd been kinda awesome if you entered so and so many figures, paid shipping and got Fury (with a random variant skrull headed one, nodding secret invasion's infiltration into teams). Well, they still could I guess with other characters similiar to fury, like Professor X. Or the Skrulled out Blackbolt.

The code isn't meant for anything more than for fun. I'm sure it helps them gauge sales somehow too.
If they were going to use it for something more then they would have you enter your name & address besides just your email address.

It'd be nice if it was more than just a checklist tbh. But they keep saying they are going to do something with it, so it will have purpose. They just haven't told us what yet.

As for the address stuff, that could always come when you order something. I don't know though, just with all the effort it looks like they put into that, you'd think it'd be used for something.

I agree. I whole code thing has a lot of potential that is being wasted right now. There are lots of cool things that they could incorporate. It's pretty cool to read the file cards and then read the info online but it could be so much more than that.

Well and the fact that each comes with a special serial number like code for online entry, they gave that some forethought, and tracking. Must have cost somethin extra to not use in more direct promotional manners.

Not really they did the same thing with Transformers once before I believe.
Plus in the beginning the codes worked more than once.

That's kinda my point. They fixed it. They apparently are investing time and money in it, outside of just bios.

Transformers had Cyber Keys that came with Cybertron series figures, but there was only one code per toy release.

Near as I can tell, the FF codes are different every time, even with the same figure.

Yup all keys are different in MU. You can test this yourself by trying the CTR codes they have pictures up of. Or at least comparing their figure codes to yours. They are all different. The cyberkeys were the same code universally. And were less than 50 codes in all. MU has already broken the 50 code mark (by 1000s) and looks to have over 4 times the data handling cyberkeys had. Essentially it's a mix of cyberkeys to Profiles on site, with a 'serial' code type authorization. That takes time and money to do. Whereas universal one codes, can just be factory pressed on and just updated once. Where as Furyfiles.com needs more maintenance and thoroughness than that.

It's like looking at the RS part number vs the serial number. Every Radioshack has the same number for the part number. As that's what that item is. But every item under that part number has a different serial number unique to just that object itself. so sure it may be R153, but it's also S/N: 555-5ABC, with the next R153 being 555-5ABD etc.

Easier for them to just track the R153, now in this example, Hasbro is tracking the serial number instead, which is unique to every figure, instead of being unique to every mold. Literally, they could potentially track from factory it was built and assigned in, to whereever you entered the code by IP. And see how far that particular item traveled. Now granted they don't use it like that. But the individuality created by serials over mold/part number means you open a wider door of possibilities for use including online point tracking.

Or tracking how many get sold to gauge how well their line is doing. ;)

ludovicotek 06-04-2009 08:46 PM

Snowflakian, all the info you provided just reinforces the idea that Hasbro went through a lot more trouble than they had to for these Fury File codes. It would be a shame if they never capitalized on the whole concept more than they are currently doing.

The codes must serve a greater purpose than to track how many figures have been sold or how far they have traveled from the factory.

What has me curious besides tracking how many are sold, what about tracking from warehouse to home? Or are the cases blind packed per store on the serials? Like all computerized and such. But even so can it still keep track of what's going where?

That'd be interesting. From china to store warehouse, to your home.
Just think of the graph on that from also online orders like bbts to florida, etc.

joebiscruml 06-05-2009 07:04 AM

I sent my check and order form in the mail yesterday. Now I just have to sit back and wiat to get me a Nick Fury.

ludovicotek 06-15-2009 11:19 PM

Any of the people who have ordered the Nick Fury figure, how long is the ETA once he is ordered? I'm sure it's probably about a 6-8 week wait. Can someone please post some pics once they get him?

scarecrow 06-15-2009 11:56 PM

It is 6-8 weeks. I'm still debating on subscribing. I like physical comics though.. And Marvel mainly focuses on big events and less on solo story-telling anymore.. So it's tough. I probably will pass in hopes of scoring one on ebay for relatively cheap. Will that happen though? No, because the people who bought the $25 dollar package will still sell Fury for $60.

Snowflakian 06-16-2009 12:55 PM

I'm subsrcibing tomorrow, cash flow got interrupted, but yeah it's a 6-8 week wait.

miketime 06-17-2009 04:11 PM

I subscribed the other day. I read the first few Spidermans, FF, X-men, Marvel Zombies, Marvel 1602, Good Stuff. I did notice however, when I was acquiring the subscription, that you have to check off a box that says that after the three months I have to cancel the script/acct my self or they will continue to charge me every three months. I think that's bogus. As soon as I get Fury that account will be dead. How many people are they going to screw out of there money by doing this? I wanted this version of Fury, they will probably give us a similar one with a different head and w/o a rocket pack. As long as my script does not auto renu, this will be the cheapest way to get this Fury. Buyer beware.
